  1. Doesn't matter. He will have the surgery to remove the hook of the hamate and then it will heal up. The latest stats are that about 20% of all professio0nal players fracture it. There will not be any lasting effects. He'll be playing in April.
  2. Yeah, that was bad. The Seattle series in 2000 was there too.
  3. We can take solace in the fact that the Machado killed his previous HOF career. SD is where flyballs go to die. His HR total will plummet. (ok, I'm reaching but anything to feel better today)
  4. I agree. That's why I said the Sox should have stepped up and I don't blame Machado for taking the guaranteed deal. The Sox wanted a more team friendly deal, SD offered a player friendly deal. Take the guaranteed money.
  5. No doubt. They would need to go well above that to get Harper.
  6. He specifically said they weren't going to 300. This agrees with all of the reports coming out that they weren't going to guarantee that much money for the total contract. The team wanted a more friendly deal, Agent and Machado wanted the highest guaranteed deal. The Sox should have stepped up and gave him the guaranteed deal.
  7. No I don't. I don't blame Machado for taking the SD offer. But at least get that facts straight about the Sox not willing to offer 30 mil. per year. They did.
  8. No doubt. He wanted a contract that would protect the team if Machado sucked or got lazy or injured. Padres offered guaranteed money. The agent and Machado wanted the "prestige" of having the highest guaranteed money. I don't blame them.
  9. But they did approve 8 for 250 which is more than 30 mil per year. You can rip the team apart, deservedly so but at least get the complaint correct.
  10. He didn't say they can't afford 30 mil per year. If you believe their offer it was more than 30 mil per year. What he said was they weren't going to 300 million total.
  11. Who set the budget that won't allow them to afford this contract? Personally, I don't fault Hahn or the fall guy KW. It's the person who won't approve the expenditure.
  12. No kidding. Imagine the treatment they will get from some fans, through no fault if their own.
  13. Agreed. My guess it would be the 10 years that was the deciding factor, if the opt outs are involved.
  14. I'm in the shot when they show Podsednik's HR. I was about 5 people away from where the ball landed after the bounce.
  15. Bumped into her in 2006 in the stadium leaving the training room while she was waiting for him once. I still haven't washed that shoulder. Goddess.
  16. You should check out the gameday threads. They should be mandatory reading in any abnormal psych course.
  17. Probably the most accurate statement in the entire thread, myself included.
  18. Edible arrangement please. They send a better message if it's coming from all of us.
  19. That's fine. It's one approach. Again it's all depends on the deal. They are rebuilding so the team will be pretty cheap for the next 5 years. They just might not be able to add much outside help if they have to pay Machado more than 35 mil per year.
  20. This could be true. There us nothing we can do to convince JR that this team should operate with a 200 million budget. Of they can fit Machado into that budget, so be it. This is why the total rebuild needed to happen. Trying to get by with 2/3 their FA will only work if they get the stars from their own system. Guys like kopech, Jimenez and Robert have that potential.
