  1. I'm sure his contract will be less than Harper. On MLB they were saying his contract could be a 1 year deal with a 9 year mutual option with the Yankees. A one year testing period. Really weird.
  2. I believe the question was about the current farm system and the future players not the farm system in the past 15 years. This current rebuild is a big difference in philosophy than the past 15 years.
  3. It's not biased too much. All of your points are ignoring point #1. Largest contract. You are assuming money being equal. If you truly pick LA over Chicago in the summer I can't help you. There are a multitude of reasons Chicago is better. But it's mostly personal preference. The number of fans will change with star power and winning. The Sox have a good plan. They aren't relying on a Sano/Buxton scenario. They have multiple high level prospects and have the ability to allow some to fail. April.and May can be brutal to say but many of the games will be on the road. I was referring more to family life. His wife and family, once it starts, will enjoy summer weather and lifestyle in Chicago much more than LA. Hands down my Choice would be Chicago. There are few places that can match it for summer life style for.MLB cities.
  4. Yes. 1. Largest contract 2. Good look for the future with farm system 3. Would be THE man for the team. 4. Good place to live in the summer 5. Can spend winter anywhere for 35 million per year I would pick Chicago provided number 1 is satisfied.
  5. It's all about perspective. It's just a game. You can enjoy it and have it drive you nuts at the same time.
  6. This is the limitation. In the MLB the deals are just too long and expensive when they need to have a roster of 25 and pay for a minor league system with at least 5 teams. The NBA doesn't have all that overhead.
  7. True but they can't control that now. If the signing s were completed already there is no news until Spring Training. This leaves a long absence of news until February. The current system at least allows news throughout the off season. Right now would you be looking at MLB if there weren't at least the possibility of deals happening?
  8. Yes. He's on the same path as Kopech but has fewer innings each year, so he will hit his innings limit earlier than September.
  9. That's weird. Last week he said he couldn't see Harper signing with anyone but the Cubs.
  10. In 4 years Trout will have signed his new deal and it will probably reset the market.
  11. 4 years isn't out of the possibility. He would probably get opt outs in a contract around that time. He would still be a free agent again at 30.
  12. 2 years to make the team competitive. That's 4 years of a total rebuild. That's reasonable.
  13. Not necessarily. The spin rate and direction of the seams dictate movement more than velocity.
  14. Are you saying that a sinker and something like a knuckleball don't spin less than a 4 seam fast ball? The physics behind it is the airflow which does change with the DIRECTION of the seams, this is the difference in all pitches including the 2 seam and 4 seam fastballs. I thought I read that the 2 seam does spin less as well.
  15. They have never been given the chance to do a full rebuild, only piecemeal in the past. So I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt at this stage. If within 2 years (that about 4 years for the rebuild which I consider reasonable) they aren't competitive, then it's time to go.
  16. You are just doubtful they will ever be good with this front office, I take it then.
  17. Move to Iceland. Seriously, I would wait on prospects. While looking for a couple of FA that fill a need that the minors don't look like they will provide.
  18. It's not an unfair position. It's a fair position. I just don't understand why you like the currently plan if you are doubtful that it will work. That's why I originally said that if you are doubtful it will work, why aren't you pushing more for them to sign more Free agents.
