Abreu has surgery, out at least 2 weeks
2 weeks is very possible. Healing and stitch removal is in 10 days. No more than 3 weeks unless there is an infection or other complication.

Abreu has surgery, out at least 2 weeks
I will agree he did a great job of keeping his composure. He worked out of jams in both of his innings, that was impressive. However, I guess our definition of great is different. He was on pace to leave the game in the 4th inning. He looks to have great and exciting potential but I would nog consider the outing as a whole great.

8/21 - Sox vs Twins, 7:10, WGN (Kopech Debut)
Being at the game early, i dont think ive ever seen a starting pitcher warmup without doing long toss. He didn't go more than 100 feet. Weird,

I wouldn't call needing 50 pitches to get through 2 innings great. His stuff looked great but too many FB right down the middle that the hitters can foul off. Needs to command the zone a little better.

Nationals Fire Sale begins
Just like their last deal, it woud need to include an MLB player to offset some of the salary, and in this case would have had to clear waivers as well.

At least Charlotte is a nice town to be in.

Nationals Fire Sale begins
The team will get crucified in the media if all they get is a lottery ticket. They will hold onto him and claim "we were so close." To pacify the fan base. They were in a no win situation with the way a talented team underperformed. The Sox could trade a star like Sale because they really didn't have much to work with and everyone knew it. The Nationals really have a talented team and they spent money on Scherzer to help. It just didnt work for some reason.

Good possibility.

I agree. If he leaves the Angels, it will be for a Northeast coast team.

yeah, the tailgating part would be. On days I go by myself, it's to one of the bars to hang out instead of the tailgate.

Bad start? They will be out in force after his first walk and bad inning.

You are looking at the wrong chart. The Sox are 14th in team value. They are tied for 16, 17 and18th in team revenue according to the latest forbes article.

You can bet they have Jimenez ones as well, whether it turns out to be this year or next. They will not miss capitalizing on the excitement (profit) of his debut.

I think it does have an impact. Is it the only factor, no. But on average it does.

No. It's your same arguement and I don't expect you to understand but I'm going to say it again anyway. MLB hitters are better than minor league hitters. He needs to learn to pitch to them. Even the hitters of the lowly twins and Baltimore are better than most minor league hitters, plus with the advanced scouting in the MLB hitters are more prepared to face him. He also needs to build up his innings this year to pitch a full season next year. Also just because he may struggle doesn't mean he wasn't ready. Making the jump to the MLB is a big jump. He needs to learn how to do that at the MLB level. He can't learn that at AAA.

Official 2018-19 NFL Thread
He should be able to play with a "club." on his hand. The surgery means they had to do an internal fixation so the fracture will be stable. Week one is 3 weeks away. There should be enough of a callus built up by then for the healing to sufficiently started. How effectively he can play with the club is a different story.

If they stick to a 5 man rotation and don't skip any he will have 10 starts. He is at 126 innings. If he gets 50 innings that's 5 innings per start and gets him to 176 innings. That's not unreasonable. If they want to preserve his rookie status for next year they pitch him 45 innings. I would categorize 171 innings as "not too far short of 180 innings."

I agree he will be close to 180 this year. 200 next year.
