  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 09:19 PM) Post 5. 5 Fridays and a Thursday. It's not too bad because it's Fridays mostly. Removing Sundays does add some price to the tickets.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 09:19 PM) Post 5. 5 Fridays and a Thursday. Thanks. i only looked at the pricing one not the schedule. hopefully, i'll get a notice soon.
  3. QUOTE (champagne030 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 07:30 PM) Long time season ticket holders get the short stick. I have a full season so that stays the same, but my two other packages get the short stick. The weekday package get hosed the most....losing multiple prime games that go to the "Rivals". Weekend package now has 6 weekday games. Value package does look the best, but you lose all seniority privileges so you'll be sitting further back to change packages. Thanks Jerry Really? Where did you find this? I'm not sure if I can do that now.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 05:05 PM) 7 fewer games $15 less. 22% price increase per game for me. Yeah. My average ticket price went up 2.30 per ticket. If we got more "premium" games I guess it would even out but more likely it's an increase in season ticket prices.
  5. QUOTE (champagne030 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 04:40 PM) I don't have "Rivals Package" cost details..... Thanks.
  6. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) How does this even impact the White Sox and Bears? Because the city may use it to justify raising the tax on sporting events again. Since the sports tax is already higher, the longer it takes for the concert tax to go up, the longer it will be before the sports tax goes up again.
  7. QUOTE (champagne030 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) Just received noticed that season ticket packages are changing for 2018. I haven't see the games, but the two 27 game packages are gone. They'll still offer the weekend and weekday packages, but they'll be 20 games and they haven't released which 20 games. They are going to offer: 7 game package 2-40 game packages Full Season And the mentioned 2-20 game packages that will replace the old weekend/weekday packages. I didn't get that notice yet.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) Move on. Some people will only focus on the negative and not acknowledge the positive. The organization must be 100% on all decisions otherwise they are useless. i'm surprised people aren't still complaining about Gio being in the post-season and the screw up there.
  9. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) It's possible he got knocked out and the fall to the ground caused the fracture. Seems more likely IMO. I bet if Portis hit him hard enough to break Mirotic's face, he'd have a broken hand/fingers. It's possible if he was out cold from the punch.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 10:06 AM) They didn't go to the hospital, and Michael Jordan made the Bulls money. If he broke some bones in someone's face and they missed 6 weeks, something would have happened to him. I was watching Kaplan's show last night and Bob Nightengale was on when they started talking about this. Fights in practice and clubhouses according to Nightengale are pretty common. They just usually don't get reported. And this one wouldn't have been reported if Niko didn't get severely injured. Kermit Washington got a 60 day suspension when he almost killed Rudy Tomjanovich back when the NBA had fights pretty often. Earlier that year, in a game between the same teams, Kareem Abdul Jabbar broke Kevin Kunnert's jaw with a punch, he also broke his hand, and got no suspension. Yes, they are in all pro sports. But the key factor here was the extent of the injury. Hitting someone hard enough to fracture the upper jaw is crazy. That's a great deal of force. He either had to hit him when he wasn't looking or when he was on the floor.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 16, 2017 -> 09:38 AM) Do you really think Dowell Loggains, who has been criticized for being too pass happy with Barkley and Hoyer, is the one deciding to have an 80/20 pass ratio? I think the quality (or lack thereof) of wide receivers is dictating more than anything.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) Didn't it also come across as so tenuous? Like he could come back for spring training, it would beome worse and then he's gone for another year. With stress reactions/fractures that won't go away, the internal fixation (screws, plates, mesh) are the last resorts. See Kevin White.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) Anyone know what the recovery for the surgery mentioned would be? 8-12 weeks.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 10:35 PM) Things can change being the mantra... if we do go pitching - I sure hope it's a prep. Otherwise, give me the best available bat up the middle. The draft is such a crapshoot. They should take the player they think is going to be the best regardless of position or level.
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) Thanks for the reminder. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/desert-dogs-vs-...ab=,game=527272 Pitchers playing "Marco Polo" with the ball against Tito Polo. 3K in for ABs.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) They haven't given up a lot of yards, but the bears right now are the 8th worst scoring defense in the NFL. Interestingly, their numbers are within 1 yard of identical to Cleveland. I would also bet that the yards given up has something to do with the inept offense - you don't need to drive 80 yards against the Bears down the stretch when you're up 14 and if the Bears punt from the 10 you don't have to drive 80 yards to put points on the board, but no obvious signs in the stats of this being a "good" defense to me. Low turnovers, giving up a lot of points, opposing teams score on 40% of their drives (7th worst). Ouch. Hard to win that way. but like you said when the offense gives the ball away so often, it gives the other offense a very short field. Is there a place to find the 5 of touchdowns? Seems to me they hold pretty well against giving up touchdowns even when the other team gets the ball on the bears side of the field so often.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) It wont. Soccer has a ton of concussions as well, no one even talks about it. Not to mention most of the money is in lawsuits for players from the past. Any new lawsuit would have to show that the team/Dr let someone play while they had a concussion. Exactly. If the players are treated properly it won't be an issue. The issue with the NFL is that they neglected to treat the players properly. Which by the way still occurs. There are lawsuits against teams and team physician's from players about pushing them to play every year. The professional sports is a totally different animal than then others.
  18. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 03:47 PM) The fact that we are even talking about young men dying on the field is reason enough to, you know, entertain the thought that maybe humans shouldn't play football? Who is dying on the field? The ones I've seen were from some type of congenital anomaly (the one's I've seen were cardiac issues) that probably would have show up during another physical activity. It had nothing to do with the actual game. There were lawsuits and no consequence because there was no negligence. I could be using the wrong legal terms but you get the idea.
  19. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) Wait until High Schools and Colleges start getting sued. Then things will change really quickly. The reason why people think it will live is money, and the reason why I think it will die is money. The problem is that in all likelihood, everyone who sees the field, or practices football, suffers a concussion at some point during every game and practice. If you start having to take kids out if there is any question of whether they are ok or not, then games will no longer be playable because youth teams will run out of players before the end of a game. Too much liability going forward, especially as more knowledge and research comes out. I don't think there will be that many lawsuits. I deal with injuries at the high school and Colleges on a daily basis. Other than a few deaths on the field I have yet to be involved with a lawsuit. Why would this condition be any different?
  20. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) I generalized it, but I am using it in the context of Football because I think that the NFL's days are numbered to to the concussion/CTE stuff. If Trubisky isn't the guy, nobody has time to wait for them to figure it out, because I think that as the science gets more reliable, they will ban football at the lower levels and the pipeline of talent would be destroyed. Furthermore, I could see the game being outlawed all together due to some thinking that allowing your kid to play could be considered child abuse. If you like football, and I do (and feel guilty for liking it) the NFL may have only 10-20 years left. There is no time to waste. If you enjoy the sport, just enjoy great players being great because football may cease to exist by 2035. This was an NFL specific rant that I generalized to gauge reaction from people. This is a sport-specific thing. If you feel that the NFL's days are numbered, then just enjoy it while it still exists. This isn't even close to reality. The game may change but there is absolutely no way the NFL won't exist. Far too much money involved. While there is a decrease in participation there are still plenty of kids playing the game. I just worked games over the weekend. There were kids from ages 6-13 with all of the teams having complete rosters.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) Most importantly, what's up with this Duck, Duck, Grey Duck crap? It's Duck, Duck, Goose. I always knew the far Northerners are weirdos. That was in our end zone. I told the Minnesotans behind us that they must stop education in 3rd grade up there for them to enjoy that game.
  22. QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 12:21 PM) We have the same conversation every offseason Wins, like anything other stat, shouldn’t be used on its own. There are more important singular stats out there for sure, but when we have as much information available to us as we do in 2017, using one stat to judge a player is irresponsible. I have been fighting this battle for years on this board. Other posters are finally starting to agree a little.
  23. QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 01:17 AM) lol...seriously?!?! I think you're one of the few on the planet that doesn't see it. Not sure wtf game you were watching....but cool story Mrs. Glennon. I disagree as well. I was at the game and saw a rookie, inexperienced QB who made mistakes. However, he did not looked overwhelmed and looked poised. He looked like he knew what he wanted to do. He started very few games in college and this was his first NFL start. He is just more raw than most rookies. He is going to make in game mistakes due to the inexperience but it looked a great deal better than I feared it would. He has a long way to go with in game decisions but it will come with experience.
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) Like our president? I guess I should clarify what I meant. i wasn't speaking about the political aspect. I was referring to the bickering and arguing about everything in public and the off field stuff. the political stuff is for another thread. The work place for them is so dysfunctional it's not surprising about the up and down play of some of these teams.
  25. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 7, 2017 -> 06:10 PM) One more time around. Edit: this really gives some good insight into the kind of person Otani is. I'll be a fan wherever he signs. Seems to have an injury history. I wonder how he'll hold up during an MLB season?
