Well considering Zito is making 5.6 million now, what is to say he wouldnt accept a 3 year 24-27 million dollar offer?
-
After hearing that Garland turned down a three year deal from the Sox on ESPN Radio last week, it got The Rock thinking. From the lists of players to be traded the main pitching name that sticks out is Barry Zito. Now with Garland likely to leave in 2007, why not deal him now while his stock is the highest its ever been. Adding another lefty to the staff would be a great addition and from what I can tell Billy Beane loves good looking white pitchers (Zito, Mulder, Harden, etc). So I suggest trading Garland for Zito and securing Zito to one of those patented 3 year 20-some million contract, what do you guys think?

Per Rotoworld: WSCR 670 in Chicago is reporting that the Cubs are close to acquiring Juan Pierre from the Marlins for three prospects. One would be left-hander Renyel Pinto. According to the report, center fielder Felix Pie wouldn't be involved. Another expendable reliever probably would be. Roberto Novoa or Jermaine Van Buren could help the Marlins. I dont know if anyone else posted this but what the hell I'll do it anyways. Rotoworld seems to jump the gun a bit (ie Beckett and Lowell for Blalock was official) but this is interesting considering the Sox are now depending on a somewhat rookie in center. Personally I would welcome a guy like pierre to add to pods at the top, thats a lethal 1-2.
-
Well Beckett and Lowell went to Boston, so Blalock is still available.
-
Besides the fact that I am a huge Blalock fan, why arent the sox pursuing this guy? The could lose Paulie, trade for Blalock and move him to first. Hes the big left handed bat that could really help the lineup. Forget Thome and Delgado who may be better hitters but are way older and are way more expensive. He's 24 years old, career .274 power hitter, has hit 25+ homers each year since hes gotten in the league, and is only making 850,000 bucks. Seems like quite the fit if hes willing to move to first or if crede is shipped off. And apparently Texas is willing to trade him for pitching (ie Beckett and Lowell), so with Garland becoming a free agent next year (barring a contract which is unlikely) why not deal him for Blalock. Its just a thought but it makes sense to me, what do you guys think?

On Rotoworld there is an article about possible trades and here were the ones involving the White Sox: Lyle Overbay - Brewers - Overbay is more likely to be traded than either Geoff Jenkins or Carlos Lee, but it looks like the Brewers are leaning towards keeping all three, at least until midseason. If they change their mind and deal Overbay, it’s not like they’d be risking everything on Prince Fielder being ready. They also have Corey Hart available to step in if Fielder falters. If they keep him now, the Brewers risk Overbay’s trade value declining as he gets more expensive. Trade possibility: To White Sox for OF Chris Young and RHP Sean Tracey Prediction: Stays Jon Garland - White Sox - It’s the same deal with Garland. Assuming no extension with the White Sox is reached, he will have just turned 27 when he becomes eligible for free agency next winter. If the White Sox lose Paul Konerko to the Angels or another team, using Garland as bait would be the best way to replace him. The Diamondbacks have talent to spare and would probably be the top candidates to land him should something happen. Trade possibility: To Phillies with C Francisco Hernandez for OF Bobby Abreu Prediction: Stays Hypothetically if these happened, which chances are they wont, this would majorly upgrade the White Sox offense. Goodbye Paulie but hello 2 stud players one of which is a perennial All-star and one has a cool name. But losing Jon seems out of the picture because we all know KW would not sacrifice pitching for hitting. So unless the phillies would accept Aaron instead of Jon this will never happen. But a guy can dream right.

QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) I dont know about you but I want Paulie AND Abreu I'd give my first born child for that but the Sox arent the Yank$

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) Lets see, he's a 25 homer/100 rbi/.400 obp/30 steal guy, he's that left handed bat all of us have wanted for a while and he plays a solid right field. He would be such a perfect 3 hitter....I would absolutely love to have Bobby on this team. I agree Abreu >>> Konerko, hes a better all around player. He's also a class act like Paulie, so it wont hurt the chemistry. But I can't help but think this is an enormous pipe dream.

I say the more venezualians the better. I think that Cabrera kid is from Venezuala too, bring him aboard.
-
That all sounds fine and dandy but the Phils still have to be willing to give up Abreu. The initial Wells for Abreu trade was proposed by the Jays and was quickly denied. So unless the Phils definetly want to dump his salary, its doubtful Abreu will be moved.

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) I ony said it because it goes against Soxtalk's personal attacks rule. We're not allowed to "bust on" players or board members in a personal manner. Oops, I'll remove it. But I still don't like him.
-
What can I say, I'm not a fan. I would like him and his 2.25 million dollar 2005 salary gone. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) Not cool dude.

Abreu would be a great fit for this team yes but they are going to have to give up more than just Rowand. The best thing that could happen is they lose Wagner and they need some left relief pitching ie. Damaso Marte. Abreu is set to get around 14-15 mil next year which is a huge salary and we all know the sox shy away from these sorts of deals. HOWEVER Abreu is a quality outfielder, Venezualian (sp?), homerun hitter (25-30 a year), steals 20+ a year, and is a LEFTY. Perfect match but only under the perfect situation will this deal ever happen. But a guy can dream right...

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Why would the Phillies trade Bobby Abreu? They want to dump his salary, Rotoworld is reporting of a Abreu for Wells swap, but they know it wont happen.
-
I can't believe the sox would take a shot at acquiring a slow semi-washed up 1st baseman who isnt even close to the all around talent level of konerko. However there is another Phillie that is floating around the rumor mill already, Bobby Abreu. This guy is an absolute star, he can hit 30+ homers, 100+ RBI's and will steal 20-25 bases a year AND HES LEFTY. I'm not going to lie, I'm a huge Abreu fan and nothing would make me happier than to see him in a White Sox uniform next year. So heres the real question, would you trade Rowand or Anderson and Garland for Abreu? Also Abreu's salary must me taken into consideration here, hes owed 29 million for 2006 and 2007 then 16 million in 2008 with a 2 million buyout. Granted thats a big salary but Garland is going to arbitration after a 18 win Cy Young caliber year so who knows how much hes will be getting. I just thought I would throw this out there.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:08 AM) It's GA in terms of the cost. Where are you sitting and did you get to request location? I got row one setion 232 for wednesday and row one section 233 for thursday (if necessary ). I didnt get to request location, I just kept trying until I got row one somewhere, which migh end of being a mistake.
-
Oh I'm still going because I want to be with a giant group of diehard sox fans to see these games. I was just saying that 15 bucks is alittle much for not too much effort on the White Sox/United Center's behalf.
-
It's not first come first serve, as said in the other thread, its general admission because all the tickets are the same price whether you sit in the upper deck of lower deck. So from what you guys are saying, its just going to be televised on the big screen on the scoreboard? Thats pretty crappy for paying 15 bucks for a seat. Also the tickets are being sold on the united center website.
-
I've been trying to get lower deck seats for the last week and all I can get is club level. I dont know if that means the club level is better to see the screens or it means that the lower deck is sold out. I'm leaning towards the club level being better.
-
I'm planning on attending both games but I dont know where the best spot would be to see the screen. So I was wondering if anyone knew how this is going to be set up.

I made this for a class im taking at DePaul. I hope you guys like it.
