  1. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) I know so many people hate to compare the sox and cubs. That sentiment is justified. However, let me qualify the following comparison by stating that I am only comparing Wells to the best available OF in this off-season market: Vernon Wells > Soriano Which is why Wells will cost $140M for 7 years.
  2. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) I'm for it. Yes, I hate Bonds. But, I love winning more. And, I love taking headlines away from the flubs. Bonds wouldn't cost us any players ! If we could sign him cheaply for one year, I could tolerate it. And, let's face it, it would be pretty cool to see the all-time home run record set in a White Sox uniform. Give him $ 10 mil. plus incentives for one year. It would definitely increase our chances of winning no matter what anyone says. I'd rather let the Cubs have the headlines than us have one that says we signed Bonds.
  3. QUOTE(gar102 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) Per Ken Rosenthal - Foxsports.com The Dodgers have landed the biggest free-agent pitching prize to date, reaching a preliminary agreement on a three-year, $47 million contract with right-hander Jason Schmidt, FOXSports.com has learned. Schmidt, 33, chose the Dodgers over the Cardinals and Mariners, both of whom were seeking to add him to the top of their rotation. Link http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6242312 Rotoworld is speculating that the Schmidt signing would allow LA to ship Brad Penny in a package to Boston for ManRam.
  4. QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:07 AM) ouch. was schueler the gm? No way. Schuler wouldn't turn loose of the most suspect prospect.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 09:56 AM) I see it as .339 in 2006 .326 in 04 and 03 The .368 was in 183 AB's in the lead off spot. That was the first year he was a lead off hitter, spending most of his time in the middle of the order in 03 and 04 Ok. I was going by the quote in the first post.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) He was a great player when he was healthy. He would fill the lead off hole nicely as well as bring a good defensive presence. But everyone has to realize that he isnt this OBP monster that everyone has been clamoring for. You could expect something like .330 OBP for Baldelli. He had an OBP of .368 last season.
  7. I don't want Bonds on the Sox, but when it comes down to it, I root for the laundry.
  8. QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 08:23 AM) who were the three promising players? And what year did the trade occur?
  9. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 04:47 AM) They never said how many. More than one would equate to prospects. I didn't realize we had any prospects.
  10. This was in yesterday's Toronto Sun: Prospects?
  11. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) Good news. If I remember correctly, Joe is now the only player not signed for next year. Cintron and MacDougal also.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) I've concluded that people who still like him just don't watch the games, it's the most logical thing I can come up with. But now i'm getting off topic, so yeah, TRADE FOR ROCCO!!! I'll tell you what. I'm just going to walk away from this. It's not worth it.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) Well of course that's true, just the brief glimmer of hope is nice though. I know by May, we'll be back to appendage-ball, Podsednik being hit leadoff everyday against lefties, and people here defending Ozzie as the greatest since he rode the back of one of the best pitching staffs ever (in terms of how they pitched that year) to a title in 2005. I can't wait...... That's ironic. Those of us that do like Ozzie don't have to wait till May to hear all the anti-Ozzie Bulls***. It never ends.
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) LOL, of course you are correct, but we have a long tradition of allowing females this freedom of expression. Think about Mardi Gras and if guys received beads for flashing or do they get arrested. Mardi Gras is different! ... It wouldn't be Mardi Gras without the ladies flashing. There are exceptions to every rule!
  15. QUOTE(juddling @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) In a related note..the Cubs have announced every home game will now be known as "Magic Cone " Day. In the shadow of Soriano's deal, the Cubs are now cutting the woman's bathroom budget and women will have to pee in the troughs like everyone else. We now have true gender equality!
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 10:27 AM) An accidental flash is not illegal. An accidental flash is not illegal. Plus, she's a victim Didn't she have about 5 'accidental' flashes in about a week? Regardless, one 'accidental' photographed flash from a man would get him busted. You don't believe me? Try it! LOL
  17. QUOTE(Damen @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 08:48 AM) Interestingly enough, we are not the only country in this world. So you have plenty of basis of comparison for what happens when government "gets its hands on it". Typically, it becomes more cost effective and efficient. And what fantasy land do you live in? Besides, whatever example you throw out there is not the US government, so it's moot.
  18. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) I agree. Garcia for Santana is a wash, and Crede for Figgins straight up would be ridiculous. I don't think this deal will happen unless there is more involved. Over the short term, Garcia for Santana may be a wash. But over the long term it's probably ... not a sure thing, but probably ... advantage Santana. If the Angels make this deal ... Figgins/Santana for Crede/Garcia, straight up ... they are probably the favorites to win the AL.
  19. QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 07:49 AM) Statmandu had it right. Bobby Bonds hit 70 HR after leaving the White Sox in 1978, he went to the Rangers for Claudell Washington and Rusty Torres. Bonilla hit all but two of his 287 career HR after being traded to the Pirates for Jose DeLeon. I'll never forget the sign in RF: Washington slept here. I've always suspected that the Pirates 'loaned' us Bonilla for a year. We got him from the Pirates and traded him back to them after one season, when it obvious he was going be a big time player. I've always that the trade of Bonilla back to Pittsburg was agreed upon when he was traded to the Sox. The hell of it is, it's been so long that I can't remember what it was that made me suspect that. It may have been protection from the Rule 5 draft or something along those lines.
  20. Comning back to add .... SoxHawk, I didn't mean that like it may have come across. Don't take it personally.
