QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 06:12 AM) I think it is pretty ridiculous to be on one major league team and root for another major league team. Once you actually become a player on a team, THAT should become your favorite team. Mark has made it clear all along that the Cardinals are his first love. It is time for him to grow up and recognize the jersey he wears and that it should be the only jersey he wears. He's not some 25 year old fan watching games on TV in his basement. He's a major league baseball player. It is long past the time he should be putting away the rooting interests of his childhood. So, you are telling me that if the Sox meet the Cards in the Series, that Mark would root for the Cards? It's long past time people put away their inane b****ing about something that doesn't matter one iota. Get ye over it.

Anyone else saddened by the decline of Britney Spears

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 06:15 AM) A little from column A (the irrational hard on our news media has for the mundane antics of celebrities) and a little from column B (the double standard in our society that makes it much more appropriate for women to do this sort of thing, especially female celebrities looking to increase their publicity) There's always some bulls*** excuse like "She's trying to break out of her bubble gum pop kiddy friendly shell" or some bile when the reality is that we have a C list twice divorced single mother looking to pump some lifeblood into her floundering career to develop some sort of relevance in today's society. Hmmm. To be honest, I'm not sure I actually wanted someone to answer my question. -

Why has she not been charged with indecent exposure? If a man had done something similar and been photographed while doing so, you can bet he would have been arrested by now. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:47 AM) I can't find ANYTHING about his stuff, and I commend the person who can (so get cracking). You are closer than anyone else to Taiwan. You get cracking!

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 05:38 AM) I agree, but what would you be willing to give up for him? Would you trade Garcia, Anderson and Haeger for him? I know he is a one-year player (with exclusive negotiating rights to him for the season), but I doubt Toronto would be willing to trade him for less than equal value. Regardless, the chances of acquiring Wells should be explored.

Here's an Ozzie Guillen quote from Chris De Luca's column: Basically, Ozzie stated a fact. One that I have seen spoken of here as a source of pride as compared to lemming Cub fans. Now ... De Luca's spin on it? Gotta love the Chicago media.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 01:57 AM) But can't you understand his never ending you know what sucking of the Cardinals gets annoying with some parts of the fanbase, especially when he can bolt after 2007, sucked in 2006, and is STILL doing it? We'll see though, as long as we trade ONE of these guys and get something in return and get B-Mac into the rotation, I'll take it. No, I can't understand it at all. I think it's ridiculously petty. QUOTE(shipps @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 02:00 AM) Freddy Garcia showed me alot of positive from this year.He showed he can really pitch even when his stuff isnt there, something i didnt really think he had in him.Why do people always think there is something so far greater out there than what we already have on this team. How qiuckly everyone forgets about our rotations 1 through 5 in the ten years before 2005. For the record, I had my tongue firmly planted in my cheek when I called him 'Dead Arm'.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) Interestingly, if you count the VA, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Tax deduction for employer-provided health insurance, it turns out the government is already paying in some way, shape, or form, for 61% of the health care costs in this country. And another 5% is covered through government mandated hospital care for the uninsured. That's fine. The industry is still in the private sector with a hefty government contribution. Basically, in a vast majority of cases, I'm a 'the less government the better' person. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) I HOPE we trade Buehrle. He has more value, and I trust Freddy to be a solid pitcher in the long run more than I do Mark. The Buehrle love around here often leads to the Freddy hate, imo. Plus, Mark is just going to sign with his Cardinals (at long last!) after this season anyways, regardless of the rumors we are negotiating a contract with him right now. Mark had a chance at one point to not sign an extension, become a free agent and bolt to the Cardinals and he didn't do it. I get so tired of this crap. I know if I was a NL player, I'd still be a White Sox fan and I would have sat in the stands with a Sox cap on in the '05 series ... Just like every other Sox fan that could, did.

QUOTE(bmags @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 01:47 AM) sweet. I hope GM's read this stuff I'm sure they listen to their scouts.

'Dead Arm' Freddie rated number 3. Apparently, some ML scouts disagree with a lot of Soxtalkers when it comes to Garcia's value.

QUOTE(Damen @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) I don't know if you've got any empirical evidence to back you up on that. Most studies seem to show that, despite spending more than twice as much per capita than any other country in the world, the US is in the middle of the pack in terms of quality of health care for most health issues. That would mean that governments who've gotten their hands on it (more), not only provide health care to all of its citizens, they've done so at a vastly more efficient rate, while still maintianing or beating the quality we have here. How can I have 'evidence' on something that has yet to occur? I expressed an opinion. -
QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) Agreed! Him.... steroids? Never! Within 5 years you can go to a rookie that looks like a male version of Popeye's Olive Oyl, to the likings of John Coffee from "The Green Mile" by eating nothing but tacos and plenty of mashed potatoes. Add in an occasional protein bar, and voila!!!!! You have an instant extra 48 pounds of muscle. You forgot the Flintstone vitamins.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) I still think this Rowand talk is more fluff than substance. It's more of the same; our irrational White Sox beat reporters making up rumors. Has there been ONE -- even one? -- quote from Kenny Williams saying that he has any interest at all at possibly bringing him back? It's not fair... how come KC gets to have a good writer following the team and we don't? Kenny Williams cannot say anything about reacquiring Rowand. It's called tampering.

If I remember correctly, the Sox do have someone specified within the front office to negotiate with Boras. So, this "the Sox won't deal with Boras" stuff is no longer true.

I wouldn't worry so much about it, Balta. As soon as the Democrats take over congress and gain control of the nation's purse strings, everything should be alright.

Texsox ... You'll always be 'number 1' in my book.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) Id say reg. season records usually tell which teams are the best moreso than a 5 game and 7 game series. Idonno you tell me which is a bigger sample size... 2 playoff series or 162 games. They finished one game behind the Twins. A bad bounce? A bad ump's call? The Tiger were AL Champs. The Cards won the Series. That defines the best teams.

Soxy, you are right in saying that the health care system in the country sucks. But, it will suck a lot worse when the government gets its hands on it. -
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) Perhaps I should rephrase that into "forces legal responsibility" upon men. They could always move out of state.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Ummm the Tigers were the wildcard team in the AL... so how do they qualify as the best team? And the Mets were down multiple starters.... they were forced to use Oliver Perez, john maine, and Steve Traschel for the first 3 games. They were the AL champs. Does that count?

I'd be curious to know how many doubles Crede saves over the course of a season with his glove.
