  1. I'd take Widger over Olivo for 2006 in a heartbeat. There's a reason Olivo has gone from Chicago to Seattle to San Diego to Florida in just a couple of seasons. He has a cannon hanging from shoulder, but there is something missing.
  2. Here's my thoughts on Derek Jeter. If had played his entire career with the Chicago White Sox or the Minnesota Twins, he'd be considered nothing specail. He's a good (not great) SS and a clutch hitter. He also has some damn impressive intangibles as part of his game. He knows the game and plays it using the best tool he's got ... his brain. But, if he wasn't in NY, he'd never make the HOF.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) I've heard that described two ways. One paid, and two paid and attended. It changed from "paid and attended" a few years back to just "paid".

    PC help please ...

    Problem solved guys. Your help is very much appreciated.
  5. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) I still think it's too early to dismiss his career altogether. Bron JUST turned 21. MJ took 5 or 6 seasons before he won his first championship, Bron at least deserves that much time. Dismissing his career and calling him possibly the greatest player ever is a wide range. I don't think anybody here is doing either one at this point.
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 11:40 AM) If you personally have never lived somewhere, how does it become your homeland? What does that have to do with the price of eggs in China?
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) Are Senators making over $150,000? I wonder if Senators are like other workers who live in one state and work in another and pay multiple state taxes. They may be paying Washington D.C. taxes, not state. Interesting loop hole. I'd venture to guess that Hillary is not just living off of her senators salary. Nothing to base that on, just a hunch.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) The WS afterglow will help the early Spring dates that lowered attendance in past seasons. And BTW, are we talking about attendance or ticket sales? The official "paid attendance" numbers. That's what all the figures reflect.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 10:46 AM) Garland is a winner. He is one of the best young pitchers in baseball. You cannot statistically prove "winner", in fact some winners will not have steller stats. Bart Colon is one that comes to mind. He pitches best when his team really needs him. I've watched enough baseball to know that Garland is the kind of guy you want in your rotation. I wonder how teams ever won before computers. Without all these stats to analyze, we'd have to resort to *GASP* watching ballplayers.
  10. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) And what curse are they talking about? Thats what upset me more than anything. The Sox never needed no stinkin' curse as an excuse. Curses? We don't need no stinkin' curses!
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) This is where I am always confused. The Jews and homeland issue. Would it be morally right for us to round up I4E and his brothers and send them to Israel? Have I4E or his brothers done any suicide bombing in the US? The answer to my question is congruent to the answer to yours.
  12. I resolve to vote for at least one democrat in '06.
  13. Wait. Wasn't NY a blue state? I'd say Hillary is probably majorly pissed, but then she just got a tax cut.
  14. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 09:31 AM) The question then becomes, if Willy has the skills set and upside that he seems to have, why would Houston give him up? To get Contreras.

    Delay

    Perhaps my sarcasm was too subtle.

    I love subtle sarcasm.
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 06:56 AM) Which sums up pretty much every civilian there, doesn't it? Non-Iraqi ones? Yes, I agree.

    QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) In services.msc, right click on the Print Spooler and select 'Properties'. What services are listed under the "Dependencies" tab? This service depends on the following system componants. LexBce Server Remote Procedure Call (RPC) This might be where the problem is. That LexBce Server, that wouldn't be something left over from a Lexmark printer would it? I'm trying to install an HP printer now.

  20. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) lol as of now the Left has 85 replies to our 14. Oh well. That's ok. These aren't votes.

  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) Everyone that thinks this kid was stupid, are you meaning he did something stupid, or had a low IQ? I still can't believe a really stupid kid could figure out how to get to the Iraq border without enlisting. Yes, Texsox. He did something stupid. Incredibily stupid. But, I'm impressed that he was smart enough to do it.
  23. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) Couldn't he just boot the chihuahuas? In California? Those PETA folks out there would tar and feather the guy.
  24. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 12:35 AM) experts? lol Professionals? Nah. That doesn't work either.
  25. Now that it's here, I want to wish everyone a safe, healthy and prosperous new year.
