QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) He insulted our fanbase on ESPN News. Labeled us "the worse in baseball," among other comments which insinuated our rowdiness and criminal behavior. f*** him. If I ever saw him skateboarding down the street I'd kick his board. He runs like a pansy, so I doubt he would catch me. Rowdiness and criminal behavior. I wonder what gives him that impression of us?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) Its not that really I think moreso people were emotionally attached to Olivo and he also just hit a HR that day vs the cubbies... he was a fun player to watch and loved seeing him on the southside. The player that we could miss the most from the trade is Morse although he has had problems with that steroid policy I think he also got screwed somehow by it too cant remember. He tested positive in the minors, and served his suspension. Then he was called up, tested again and was still positive because there wasn't time for them to get out of his system.

I played in a couple of leagues like this a few years ago (won some titles too) and at least one of them was OOTP. This is a lot of fun to do, so you guys who are considering it, go for it. BTW, I eventually got burned out on it and am not wanting to jump back into it.

QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Talk seems to have shifted from Chicago to Boston. I saw it a while ago on ESPNNEWS, Boston had offered Manny for Tejada straight up but now they have included Clement in the offer. The contracts of Manny and Clement are 20 mil apart from Tejada. I don't see that happening and if it did Boston would have to eat alot of the money. Plus, they are in the same division. Just figured I'd post that. ESPN shifted the talk from Chicago to Boston ... Wow. I'm shocked.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) O' no! VA put some thought into his post! NO!!! WE CANT HAVE THAT ON SOXTALK VAfan can beat a dead horse, but I dont think what he said in that last post was that off base. I agree. He stepped totally out of character with that one.

QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) But, but... Gload can play the OF! If you want to call it that.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) Everybody keeps trying to down play this teams lack of depth because Mack can play so many positions. But he can't play them all at once. Your only IF subs are Mackowiak and Ozuna (and one or both could be in the OF that day). If one is in the game you need to either hold the other on the bench in case some thing happens or play the starter on his off day. You could play Thome at 1B and DH Konerko but what other options are there? Think about the 'Sunday' lineup, you need one more Major League IF. Maybe so, but that IF does not need to be a 1B.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) s***, it's in the genes. I'm not looking forward to the time when I get them. And all this time I thought they were located ... elsewhere.

QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Ahhh, try this: Right click the desktop, pick Properties, and go to the desktop tab. The background image selections are available and your image will be highlighted and probably called "Internet Explorer Wallpaper". Just pick the browse button and it will take you where that picture is stored. Then copy and rename it and there you go. SFF Thank you! That did the trick.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) The USS Cole. Thank you.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) Sorry did I forget the green? For the record, I think the Iraq election was viable. You are like the New York Times. State some liberal bias and then claim it was a mistake.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) And yet both of them somehow came to agreement that Clinton would have invaded Iraq as well. Just like he reacted when the WTC was bombed in 1993. Or the ... s***, I can't remember the name of the US Navy boat that was suicide bombed ... but you know which one I mean. Sure ... Clinton would have invaded. But he would have been invading Monica Lewinsky instead of Iraq.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Rush, O'Reilly, and Hannity all draw in enough advertising revenue to exist in just about all major (and most small) markets. They don't need additional revenue from newletters, e-mail updates, etc. And all of O'Reilly's profits from "Factor Gear" go towards Habitat For Humanity. So, why does Air America need to beg its listeners for money? The aforementioned talk-show hosts simply have items for sale... that's a hell of a lot different than begging. Why can't they simply offer to sell something to their listeners? Is it because they're so broke that they can't afford the manufacturing/printing costs? Oh, and Kudos to Al Franken and Randi Rhodes for out-drawing O'Reilly's mediocre radio show in ultra-liberal New York City. How are they doing against Rush and Hannity in more moderate parts of the country? :rolly You noticed how the fact that all profits from "Factor Gear" goes to charity was skipped over, even though the price list was verbatum? Odd isn't it?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) As long as Selig is commish, MLB will never play regular season games in Vegas, imo. Agreed

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Is this the one you were thinking of YAS? No, the one I was looking at was brighter. To be honest, I saved the pic I'm looking for as my desktop background. I just don't know how to get it from there to my imaging program.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) Found it. That's pretty cool, but not the exact one I had in mind. I know the one I want was posted here earlier ... somewhere.

Does anyone have the picture of the skyline with "SOX WIN" on the buildings? For that matter, any other good pictures will be appreciated. We can put them all in this thread for convenience sake.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 06:20 AM) Michigan never established a ground game. They didn't score after Nebraska turnovers in their own territory. Michigan turned the ball over twice in the 4th quarter with the lead. The officials were terrible, but they did NOT cost Michigan the game. That game should never have been close. Michigan should have been up at least two touchdowns in the first half and running away with it. b**** about the refs all you want Josh, but Michigan did not play well and the referees were not the reason they lost. Josh sees everything through ... well ... Josh colored glasses. -
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Well, since everyone here seems to think the UN is "worthless," I guess it isn't worth much. You defend them in one thread and dismiss them here. I guess the U. N.'s conclusion on the election didn't jive with the party line.

And people question my perception of the media being left-wing biased for the past 35 years or so. :headshake

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) Yeah, I was joking about WHH. To judge him in 30 days in ridiculous, but I'm not really familiar with anything he did. He coughed a lot. That's about it.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 04:14 AM) Munoz is probably going to be that guy, if the Sox decide to let him loose in the bullpen again. Don't forget in the brief time he was pitching in September in 2004, he had some pretty good numbers. It could be him. I believe Baj and Bull will get their shots as well.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 04:15 AM) I guess this means he's probably trade bait, unless KW decides to hang onto him; Not necessarily. Just like when KW offered Garland a 3yr/$24M contract, that was just the beginning of negotiations. Contreras will probably come down some on his demands. Whether he comes down enough for it to be acceptable is the question.
-
I don't see any reason we can't give one of the kids in the minors a shot at that last bullpen spot. If no one steps up, then KW can go out and get a solid pen guy in for the second half. or sooner.
-
QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 03:32 AM) While it may not hurt it, does anyone else think using McCarthy out of the pen unnecessarily retards his development? Not one iota.
