  1. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Looks like the Red Sox box set has 1 game per dvd. Their boxset is 12 dvds, has every game of the ALCS (7) and World Series (4) the 12th dvd is a bonus dvd with locker room and parade footage. With the White Sox box set at 7 dvds, it looks like we'll get every World Series game (4), they'll probably use 1 of the remaining dvds for bonus features with locker room and parade footage, that leaves us with 2 left. Clinching game against Boston and Anahiem?? That would be my bet..... Sounds like a winner to me.

    Christmas Songs

QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) Cartman sang it. How about if I add a word to my last sentence ..... "well".
  3. I was aware of the DC and Alaska exceptions to my statement. I was speaking in generally terms, or taking the each list collectively.

    Christmas Songs

QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) By far my favorite! I like O Holy Night as well. Didn't we do this last year? O Holy Night is the most beautiful Christmas songs ever written. It's also one of the most difficult to sing.
  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) How do you know? I can't find anything on that ad that says this. What about the postgame stuff? 6 or 7 disk set? I don't see how it can have ALL the games. My guess is Game 5 ALCS and 4 WS games.
  6. I had to bail out before reading all of this thread. But, I just want to say one thing to all you people bashing our President.... I'm in complete agreement with you.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) Since when was Josh Stewart a top pitching prospect? I have nothing against the guy, but a lot of you saw something that no one else really saw. Could he have been a serviceable 5th starter, maybe, but he would never be anything more than that. He had lousy stuff and to top it off he didn't have pin-point control. Thats just not a good combination. Nothing wrong with his work ethic though and it stunk he had to take that ball off his chest. But man, where some of you guys got this idea that Stewart was going to be this great pitcher, well I'm miffed. Felix Diaz was a better prospect than Stewart (much better) and we know he'll never be a good 5th starter. I don't think anybody suggested he could be anything more than a serviceable fifth starter. I know I didn't. It's been said around here countless times that with a serviceavle fifth starter we could have won the division in '03, so even that Stewart/WS remark wasn't a total stretch.
  8. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) I got mine but wasn't there suppose to be like collector baseballs that came with it? I've received the entire package, but it came in 4 different shipments over the course of about a week.
  9. QUOTE(GreenSox @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) Crede's not a free agent for 3 more seasons. Who cares who is agent is at this point? His contract is dirt-cheap. What better 3B is available? No use giving up talent for a non-upgrade. The main issue with Crede, apparently, is his back. The Sox seem to have some real concerns about it.
  10. I believe there's a rule that a player can't be traded while on the DL. Can an injured player be traded in the offseason?
  11. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) Imagine the ribbing Dick Butkus took. Imagine how many asses he kicked.
  12. Anderson and Mackowiac can both play all 3 OF positions. That provides plenty of flexibility for Ozzie. Harris would be a good candidate for the last spot on the bench. He's a great glove at 2B, can handle CF, offers great speed for pinch running situations. If Iguchi gets hurt, I'd rather have Harris play everyday and keep Ozuna as a utility backup.
  13. I don't believe Garland had what will be called a "career year". I think he just had the first of many stellar seasons. Still, I don't think he'll be with the Sox. Since he has expressed a desire to go on the free agent market, it's in the best interests of the Sox to trade him.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) xm over sirius? in what way? i would love to hear why. XM carries Major League Baseball.
  15. Fielding popups pays off for catcher. I saw the video of this. It was pretty amazing.
  16. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 06:21 AM) But then you have to look at Vazquez playoffs vs Garlands in the playoffs statistics. Vazquez got bombed when he was in NY. Garland was awesome in the playoffs. And if Vazquez will be the guy left out come playoff time for the rotation is McCarthy ready to step his game up in the playoffs? I'm sure Kenny is considering all this- not just the regular season. I like the fact that he's thinking further than 2006, but is trading Garland for pitching prospects help us anytime soon? Probably not. If KW trades Garland i hope it will be for an excellent reliever or a center fielder and some pitching prospects. So far Houston, Texas, and Baltamore have called KW that we know of in regards to Jon G. I hope he waits until the complete best offer is on table. I also hope he waits until Contreras and AJ P are signed to deals. Last year, we got El Duque for the express purpose of having him available to start those big playoff games. It didn't quite work out that way. The top four starters will be decided in late September when it comes time to set a playoff rotation. Again.
  17. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 06:20 AM) My problem with doing this is that Garland's stock is at an all-time high right now. If he has a bad first half, we might not be able to get nearly as much as we can if we just trade him now. I'm not worried about stamina with the WBC.. I think its a silly thing to worry about. That's an unknown at this point, but I tend to agree with you. Every year, there are dozens that play winter ball, then come to ST and perform throught the season without any problems.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 06:16 AM) I had the same conversation with the school. When their response was about the same, I asked why it was ok for them to hit my kid, but it wasn't ok for me to hit them? No one is hitting my kids, taping their mouth shut, etc. As far as respectng authority, it teached the kids when you have the power, get physical, that the only way to maintain respect is by force. There are better ways. There are times in life when you absolutely have to make a stand. This was one of those.

  20. QUOTE(POTUSChris @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) So sad. I just loved him as an actor. And he was one of my favorite characters on the West Wing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I'm in agreement on each remark.
  21. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) what if they were a total badass and in your attempt to get retribution you were the one who got the 'hell beat out of'? oh what a sad scenerio. As I said, whatever happens to me, happens.
  22. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) agreed. and that biggest douche in Alaska, Ted Stevens is the worst of them all. I want all Republicans here to look at who is the problem of "big government spending" The Tax Foundation has released a fascinating report showing which states benefit from federal tax and spending policies, and which states foot the bill. The report shows that of the 32 states (and the District of Columbia) that are "winners" -- receiving more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes -- 76% are Red States that voted for George Bush in 2000. Indeed, 17 of the 20 (85%) states receiving the most federal spending per dollar of federal taxes paid are Red States. Here are the Top 10 states that feed at the federal trough (with Red States highlighted in bold): States Receiving Most in Federal Spending Per Dollar of Federal Taxes Paid: 1. D.C. ($6.17)- D 2. North Dakota ($2.03)- R 3. New Mexico ($1.89)-D in 2000, R in 2004 4. Mississippi ($1.84)- R 5. Alaska ($1.82)- R 6. West Virginia ($1.74)- R 7. Montana ($1.64)- R 8. Alabama ($1.61)- R 9. South Dakota ($1.59)-R 10. Arkansas ($1.53)-R In contrast, of the 16 states that are "losers" -- receiving less in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes -- 69% are Blue States that voted for Al Gore in 2000. Indeed, 11 of the 14 (79%) of the states receiving the least federal spending per dollar of federal taxes paid are Blue States. Here are the Top 10 states that supply feed for the federal trough (with Blue States highlighted in bold States Receiving Least in Federal Spending Per Dollar of Federal Taxes Paid: 1. New Jersey ($0.62)- D 2. Connecticut ($0.64)- D 3. New Hampshire ($0.68) R in 2000, D in 2004 4. Nevada ($0.73)- R 5. Illinois ($0.77)- D 6. Minnesota ($0.77)- D 7. Colorado ($0.79)- R 8. Massachusetts ($0.79)- D 9. California ($0.81)- D 10. New York ($0.81)- D Two states -- Florida and Oregon (coincidentally, the two closest states in the 2000 Presidential election) -- received $1.00 in federal spending for each $1.00 in federal taxes paid. Just guessing here, but the per capita income of the states in the first list would probably be substantially lower than the pci of the states in list 2. Wouldn't the "poor" states be the ones that should receive the lion's share?
  23. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) The constitution is the superior document and the 4th Amendment clearly says and I quote: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. If we start allowing the government to trample the constitution then it will only be a matter of time until it is useless.

    uh-oh hillary

Yet, so many are quick to believe every thing they hear about W. Anything disparaging Queen Hillary is quickly dismissed. For example, wasn't Robert Novak the one involved in the Plame deal that the Dems jumped all over? But now, what he has to say doesn't matter.
