    Soxtalk Rides

A white 1998 Ford F-150 pickup that I bought new and it now has 145,000 miles on it. Still running well. *knock on wood*
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Everytime you show these stats how come you leave out runs scored???????? THE single most important stat in this area.
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) No one is whining. I think some people just recognize that our offense isn't hitting as well as they should be and think it is a valid concern... Sortable Team Stats: .260 team AVG (ranked 24th in MLB) .323 team OBP (ranked 26th in MLB) *waits for the obligatory, "look at our record!" response* How do they rank in runs scored. That's what offense is measured by, when it comes down to it.
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) My first reaction was OMG, YAS and I agree on something. Then I realized this wasn't SL&P s*** happens.
  5. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) I'm amazed that anyone can find something to whine and complain about after a road divisional sweep for the best team in baseball, when tonight's game is still over 10 hours from beginning. Some people around here are truly talented in that respect. "Talented" is not the adjective I would use.
  6. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) They are hitting a lot of homers and striking out a lot. Wouldn't that indicate that they are in fact swinging for the fences? I know Crede said he was just trying for a base hit when he went deep last night.
  7. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) Steve Stone should do baseball tonight, he the smartest one out there and would provide the best insight. He still could do some analysis for ESPN as well. Stone for Brantley sounds like a winner to me.
  8. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) Who needs a label or definition of what it is...you want to call it something...Call it Winning Ball. Cause that's what we're doing...We win games any way we have to. We have 20 wins by 3 or more runs...10 wins by 2 and 22 by 1. That adds up to 52 wins any way you cut it and with any label you want to put on it. Winning Ball sounds good to me!!
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) What is wrong with what I said? If these guys makes the playoffs and continue to swing for the fences every AB against stud playoff pitchers, they will get owned. You only said it 65000 times. That's all that's wrong with it.
  10. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Getting no hit by average pitchers for inning after inning is pretty frustrating. If it happens tonight, it won't be that bad because Harden is a stud. Eh ... They put up a 6 spot last night to complete a three game sweep.
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) We lost the A's series earlier in the season. No matter how hot we are, we always suck at Oakland and tonight is possibly the worst pitching matchup we could have. Contreras against a team that takes walks. Ouch. I hope Contreras nuts up and throws strikes but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Well, since you expect them to lose this one, don't beat up on them so much in the game thread.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) You think Congress hates each other now? Wait until after these confirmation hearings... Yep. The s***'s gonna hit the fan now.
  13. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 06:00 AM) I know how you know. Pete Ward to Robin Ventura. In between the two, yes, that was a black hole. We had a guy named Bill Melton in there. He wasn't too bad. No, I was thinking from Ventura to Crede.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Something to watch for... CNNSI is doing one of their photo montages of the top-earning athletes in American sports. I found this little nugget to be quite amusing. It's true. There is photo of that posted somewhere here on Soxtalk. I've also seen the actual commercial, so the photo hasn't been altered.

    6/30 games

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 04:17 AM) That's what happens when you go from A pitching to AAA pitching. And some people thought he was a stud because he could hit A pitching at the age of 25. :headshake Let's wait and see if the guy can make the adjustment. He may never amount to anything, then again, he just might.
  16. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) Sox are dominating weaker teams and I love it. They are ALL weaker teams.
  17. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) Just look at the Cubs pre-Ramirez Hell, the Mets played rotating 3b's for 40 plus years.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) Any Arbitor that would give Crede s***. Should stricken of his title and thrown onto the streets to live like a bum for the rest of his days. Whatever. I see our opinions on Crede's value differ. I know that 3B can be a black hole for a franchise for many years.
  19. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) Well anyways, the speculation was fun for me while it lasted. In any event I don't think the Sox have all the pieces that would allow us to trade for Chavez. I think we'd have to have a 3rd team involved. Pipedream it may be, but the media keeps bringing it up so it will continue to be the hot topic on my mind. Wouldn't mind the talk of a SP coming true either... I like Joe Crede. I don't think he'll ever be a superstar, but I think he lock down that 3B position for years to come. However, if we can get someone the caliber of Chavez, then by all means you have to do it. I don't see that happening, and when the rumor first broke a month or so ago, I said Beane would not trade Chavez.
  20. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) Thanks. I guess I just keep hearing how Boras will try to get more $$ for Crede and am connecting that with free agency instead of arbitration. Well, all the cheaper Crede should be next year, right? I expect the Sox to try and lock Crede up past his 1st year of FA eligibility. I also look for Boras to try and not let that happen. This is one that may actually make it to arbitration.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) Arbitration rocks! I don't know how many times I have seen someone state that Crede was going to be a FA. I got tired of explaining it, so I now I just state the fact that he won't be one.
  22. Joe Crede is not a free agent after this year.
  23. There are only two AL teams to worry about if we make the playoffs. 1. The team we play in the ALDS 2. The team we play in the ALCS I don't care who they are, I'll worry about them till they are in our rear view mirror.
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Since that just so happens to be both team's exact batting orders. :rolly If you want to compare teams offensively, you compare lineups. That simple. Detroit is a better run scoring team than the Sox, and that is very simple to see. The Sox have a better overall defense along with a better pitching staff, while being older and a little more patient at the plate(and that is scary, because the Sox, in general, have very little patience at the plate) 2005 Runs scored Sox = 370 Det = 334 Ya. I see your point.
