QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Is there a source for that quote? Some people are all-knowing, all-seeing.

That was a damn good write up, even if it is about the Giants.

ATO: Jenks to Chicago, McCarthy Back to Charlotte
YASNY replied to danman31's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Here is one thing Bajenaru and Jenks have in common: They both walk guys at a rate of one every other inning. Do you guys think maybe, just maybe, KW wants guys who provide a totally different look (stuff wise) on the pitching staff? All the starters have totally different styles. Bajenaru has the power slider, much like Vizcaino and Hermanson. Jenks is a 100% totally different look, he has the monster fastball and the huge big breaker curve. No one on the Sox staff has that, particularly in the pen. That makes it tougher for opposition hitters to adjust. This is exactly why I believe Jenks got the call vs. Bajenaru, but call me crazy ... after you think about it for a few minutes. Crazy like a fox. I don't know what the reasoning was to bring up Jenks over Baj, but I'm sure they did have their reasons for it. I also don't believe the Sox feel Baj has no future. -
I don't know what's up or who KW is looking at, but I have strong feeling that somjething is in the works and they believe it will go down soon. I also believe that at least 2 current members of the Sox will be shipped. My reasoning for this is Ross Gload. The Sox, we all know, are in need of a solid backup at 1B, yet Gload is still in Charlotte "rehabbing". Well, he's rehabbing the cover off the ball. Why is he not up with the Sox? Because one of the position players will have to go down to make room for him. I think they are leaving Gload in AAA until a deal is made. A 'two for one' as far as major leaguers are concerned, with the new guy and Gload getting the roster spots of the departed players.

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 06:41 AM) This is from Tuesday's Southtown. "While Schmidt would be a nice addition to the starting staff, he is not the whale Williams has on his telescope. Much like Williams had visions of Randy Johnson dancing in his head last season and last offseason, a source has said that Williams will first try to see if prying Roger Clemens from Houston is nothing more than a pipe dream. Williams cannot discuss players on other teams because of tampering rules, but Clemens would be one pitcher the Sox GM would put together almost any package to try to acquire. Such a move would help the Sox and would also keep Clemens from the Yankees and Red Sox, two teams that could make a run at Clemens because of their resources. The problem is that Clemens would have to approve a deal to Chicago, which is unlikely. Second, the Astros don't believe they're out of the NL wild card race." If the Sox got Clemens, the weather report in Hell would be "Record lows - freeze warning today!" I also would prefer that KW not waste time chasing the impossible. But I could fit Roger into the rotation, I suppose. I don't think Kenny believes in the word "impossible".

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 06:19 AM) Just wish all this Schmidt crap would blow over already. If theres something we need for this team to succeed, it is NOT a starting pitcher struggling with his WHIP and ERA. And doing so in a much better pitchers park than the Cell is. The thing about Schmidt is that he's a high risk - high reward type of guy. Where's John Montefusco when we need him?

When you are under oath, there is no such thing as a little white lie. Perjury is perjury.

QUOTE(My Left White Sock @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) Does anyone actually like that the ASG determines home field advantage for the World Series? Maybe I'm just projecting my opinion onto other people but it seems like everyone agrees it is a terrible idea. It all depends on whether the AL wins the ASG the year we finally make it to the series.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) at that point we've given up two top prospects or more for half a season of a pitcher that's potentially worse than the one we've got. ... Or ... potentially the difference between a world series win or an early playoff exit. Potential can go both ways.

To keep 17 threads from popping up about who did and who didn't make the All Stars, this should be the place to discuss the upcoming game. Should be an interesting thread by the time all is said and done.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) YAS, that's great, the problem is if you're going to do that you can't have the game mean something. It can't be meaningful and be an exhibition at the same time. This year for me I'm going to have a big interest in the game because home field in the world series can be a difference maker, do you want to see Emil Brown out there as a deciding factor in something like that??? I don't know maybe it's just me but I just don't think you can have it both ways. I'll agree with that 100%. Personally, I think the overall AL vs. NL record in interleague play should determine the home field advantage. In the event they finish at 50-50, let the All Star game be the tie breaker.

Of course, we all know that if the president lies under oath, it's no big deal. The precedent has already been set.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) DLee +Pods+Gooch=150 RBIs for DLee. Kevin Walker, Roosevelt Brown and Greg Norton for DLee in the offseason? They need need bullpen help (Walker), they need a leftfielder (Brown) and they'll need someone to fill in at 1B (Norton). Just a thought. Yeah. That's really gonna happen.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Today my son Brendan turned 1. I get done with his party and the cleanup to turn on the TV to see the whitesox getting a final out in a game in the 7th level of hell for a WhiteSox winner. I can sit back now and say the day is perfect. Nice win for the whitesox, and a nice day for my family. Its all good. Happy birthday to your son. These are the best of times. Enjoy them to the fullest extent.
