QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) that doesnt seem fair. Maybe its something baseball can look at in the off season That really sucks. But I have a question. If a guy is suspended due to subsance abuse, is the team able to fill his spot on the roster with another player or will they play with 24? Edited to rephrase: Would they normally play with 24?

As for Borchard, I've been one of those guys that have quietly been hoping he'd make it all come together in Charlotte. I haven't given up on the guy yet.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) You dont call up your top prospect to be your 4th OF......Anyways Anderson is a better fielder than Rowand and since Rowand's natural position is RF anyways and Anderson's is CF what makes sense to you. Just curious. How many times have you seen Anderson play CF?

I'm going to order SI to get that box they always put together when a team wins a championship. That'll be the only reason I order SI.

Sox fandom is not necessarily an "admittance by birth right only" situation. Stop being a snob and let's build this fan base.

Off the top of my head... '64 Phillies '69 Cubs '78 Red Sox All teams that lost large, late season leads. I think the Angels blew one to the M's a few years back, but I can't remember what year. Regardless, this race is a LONG way from over.

Willie did not say he should get more playing time. Willie said he like a full fledged chance to play every day. He did not indicate that he is pissed off because he isn't playing every day. Any yound ball player that has been bench depth for a couple of years should want the opportunity to play every day. That's normal, and not something he should be reamed for saying. At least not with the way Willie said it. However, I don't see him getting that opportunity with the Sox. Nor should he, with the players we have in front of him.

QUOTE(bulokis @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) I dont know but I would like to see Oliver Perez from PIT. Get another lefty on our rotation. I know they have Duke and Snell out there so they might be willing to part ways with him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Perez kicked something and broke a toe a while back. He'll be on the DL for about 6 weeks. I doubt that he can help us much from there.

It seems KW is concerned with chemistry, based on some of his quotes.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) BTW, do I get partial credit for a post of the month? It's there. That was quite good as well. You make a good straight man.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) Don;t you think Beuhrle wants a championship ring? I am 100% sure Buehrle is all for the betterment of the team in their quest for a ring. I doubt this would bother him. He will get his payday. This is the kind of s*** that plays on a man's mind. Chemistry is wonderful thing when it's good, but mix a couple ingredients that shouldn't be mixed and it blows up in your face.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) So we can only sign a pitcher for less than Mark's salary just because we don't want to hurt his feelings? Mark's payday will come. That's the way baseball works, and Mark knows that. Burnett has done squat compared to Buehrle.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) I'm reminded everytime I put on my 1917 Sox Road Cap We are more like Cub fans then we care to think about. Speak for yourself.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) You have to love the kids and their enthusiasm . . . Live and learn. Hopefully not this year.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) To be honest, I wish I would have thought of that one.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:37 AM) Man you need to stop being a worry wart. Unless we suffer serious serious injuries like losing both Buehrle and Garland as well as like AJP and Thomas and maybe politte... we have it wrapped up. I'm with Texsox on this one. I've seen way too much over the years to even entertain the thought that this thing is over.

I wouldn't be totally shocked to any of Wood, Maddux, Patterson or Burnitz wearing something other than Cubby blue by the end of the month.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Its good to hear this stuff straight from the players, but we've known about coop all year because of his high praise from hawk and Dj. A very feel good article, great job coop. Eh, this past off season people were wanting to dump Cooper.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) I haven't tried it, but supposedly triplethreatsports.com has numbers/names available. I gotta try it, I got an authentic Maggs jersey that I can't stand to wear right now, try to put a 56 on it. I saw a guy at a game with a "30" Sox jersey. Instead of "Ordonez" over the number, it said "He Gone".

QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Dude, you lost me from the beginning in that other thread when you said that Jason Schmidt was never an ace and that he somehow managed to have 4 fluke years. One year is a fluke, 4 is not. The guy was flat out dominating. You made some good points though about him after that. If he really didn't throw as hard when he was with other teams ( Pittsburgh? I think I remember him there), then started throwing faster when he got to Balcoland, that's a little suspicious. He does have a stock frame too. I think pitching is all we need at this point. Also, I don't think you need to worry as much about affecting chemistry when getting pitching. Hell, the guy can sit in a corner by himself all the time and it really doesn't matter as long as he goes out and does his thing when needed. Third base would be a different story though. I believe he was trying to subtly skirt around the possibility of Schmidt using modern chemistry to enhance his performance over those 4 years, which for some reason, he cannot do now.

QUOTE(atrain081 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) This may have been posted already, but according to Rosenthal KW is going after Burnett, and we may be a frontrunner ahead even of Baltimore. link There's an 11 page thread about it. But, this is where it should be, so all is good.
