  1. For some reason, I found it quite enjoyable to read about the despair of a huge Twins fan that is brought on by the dominance of the White Sox. Entertaining indeed.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) Well, at least they're not saying we'll be clearing roster spots by dumping half of our team on Florida. That's something of a relief. In that supposedly done deal, we'd be trading away two major leaguers and getting back three. Which is another reason I doubt the credibility of that deal as reported. We don't have the roster flexibility at this point as we can't seem to make room for Gload.
  3. I have come to realize that when it comes to Ordonez, I really don't care any more. I used to love the guy. Then when the s*** hit the fan in the offseason, I was pissed. Now, Magglio Ordonez is a Detroit Tiger and that's exactly the outlook I have about him. Just another decent ballplayer on an opposing team.
  4. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) Is it obvious now that this guy is pulling bulls*** out of his ass. I don't think that KW will trade Shingo after 1 bad outing especially since he has been better as of late. I don't think that one outing plays into the decision at all.
  5. I'm with you, chisoxfn. That Marlins deal just doesn't compute.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) I f***ing hate trade rumors Just call it a hunch, but you might be hanging around the wrong forum.
  7. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) i thought jenks was gone for marte That was Walker.
  8. While I believe that any talk of Rowand being bumped from CF by anyone in the Sox organization is nuts, at this point, I can see Rowand being traded. You have to trade value to get value and this off season a Rowand trade wouldn't shock me.
  9. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) No thank you. I pray that we don't have to face the Cards! You can't back into a world championship. If we win it, will beat whoever steps on the field to play us. If it's the Cardinals, fine. If it's someone else from the NL, then they've probably gotten there by beating the Cards.
  10. The White Sox made a statement with this series. People keep waiting for them to falter, and they keep making people STFU!!!!!
  11. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) I thought Buster was crazy when he said that night. Not to sure how the sox would use J Encarnacion If a team won't take Lowell in a deal, then Encarnacion is the excess baggage a team would have to take instead.
  12. Gammons says Boston is not close on a Burnett deal. He also said the Sox would have to send Contreras, Marte and either BMac or Anderson. To put it succinctly .... f*** that.
  13. QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Dammit! I miss the 60, 1 page threads. Ya, those too!
  14. Dammit! I miss the 60 page threads.
  15. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) I caught the last bit of Buster Olney on baseball tonight last night but I swore he said something about that Sox are talking to the Marlins about Juan Encarnacion. Did anyone else catch this or am I mistaken I know Encarnacion was mentioned with Burnett to the O's rumors, but I haven't heard him mentioned with the Sox.
  16. QUOTE(toasty @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) is there not anyone else not ready to give up on the count just yet? I think chemistry would slip a bit, starting with duque. I'd at least wait another start to see if he continues his upswing. get whoever for shingo, get guardado/wagner or whoever and be done with pitchin oh... and I dont think the reliever that comes in will take the closer's role from hermmy, at least not straight on.... that would kill some of the chemistry too, right quick, but I think ozzie is smarter than that If it's Wagner, Hermy's a setup man. No doubt. Hermy has also said he'll do whatever the Sox ask. It's all about team with him.
  17. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Kinda funny how f***ed that team is that they were backed into getting that slug though. Oh, I agree. It's fun to watch them squirm. I just hope they don't find some magic somehow. It would be nice to have a non-New York postseason for a change.
  18. They couldn't just do nothing. Somebody has to pitch those innings. This was a no brainer to me. They HAD to pick Lieter up.
  19. Until a deal is made, there is no reason to hold a player out of a game. I've seen them pull players off the field in the middle of a game because they had just been traded. There's no baseball ettiquete involved. If he's traded, you can't play him. Until then, you can and in most cases do so the scouts can watch him.
  20. Kind of uneasy about Milton? Talk about your classic understatement.
  21. QUOTE(tony72 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) I agree... To me (although I was ten and not there)..the 1983 Clincher had to be the most exciting becuase it was the first time a Chicago team had won anything in 28 years)... Same here. That was the first time in my memory that the Sox had finished in 1st place. It was an unbelievable feeling. I mean, s***, I was 25 years old and had been a Sox fan all my life and had never experienced that.
  22. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Cardinals Ditto
  23. Took the first 3. That's 3 more nails in the Tribe's coffin. Let's go Angels!
  24. Off topic, but it's pretty good, The Red Sox put a shift on against Giambi, with the 3B playing basically in the SS area. Giambi just laid down a hard bunt down the 3B line. It was funny to watch.
