Is this guy still talking?
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) I was sitting next to 2 couples last night. One was a married couple and the other the married couple set up on a blind date. It was hysterical. The guy who was set up, was singing at the top of his lungs every canned song played last night. The girl who he was set up with, who was pretty damn hot, would just kind of laugh. Then the wave started. He was doing it, throwing his hands above his head, screaming. After that the guy and the husband went to the bathroom or something. The 2 women where there and started talking, the wife apologized to her friend. Her friend said "It wasn't that bad until he started doing the wave", This is a true story. Doing the wave is not cool. LMAO. This, I believe, says it all.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) The September 17th game at Minnesota is scheduled for 11am and there is NO television for that game. What if it a potential clinching game? Will anything be done to put that game on TV? Damn good question.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) I just wonder if Minutemen and the Reverend Phelps have files on em. If they do, I can live with Greenpeace. Why they need files on the ACLU is beyond me. I don't recall the Minutemen being involved in any violence.

I thought this thread was about a movie.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) What? But a woman's place is in the kitchen! /yes, 2 please Especially when, a man's home is his castle.

QUOTE(twins suck @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Jonathon Quinn It took 42 posts before someone came up with this guy. Amazing.

QUOTE(fry the twinkies @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) Celebrities always get off scot-free. He probably won't have to do any jail time, but the evidence is pretty much irrefutable. He won't get off scot-free.

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) Gman? other board? wtf are we talking about? Nothing worth worrying about He_Gawn. He Gawn!

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) he said the phillies wearnt going to move wagner A rough week for the Phillies could change that.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) Right now, this far in front of the trade deadline, why not be greedy? The Reds are under no pressure to make any moves for another week at least. Someone may very well come around and decide to meet their asking price. It worked for the Devil Rays last year in trading Victor Zambrano. I bet you Randa will still move, and probably Dunn as well...but they won't move until July 30th. Teams that are genuinely out of the race are in no rush to make deals, but a team like the Twins, Orioles, or Nationals, who should be genuinely concerned that they're starting to fall out of the race, is in a hurry, and might pay extra to not have to wait that week. Not having to wait that week is important to teams like that. They want to take a shot, but if the trade doesn't light a fire under their team, then they can put the newly acquired player back on the market near they deadline and cut their losses.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) It just doesn't sound like Billy is going anywhere. Ed Wade can't punt the season with his job in the balance. He may be ordered to punt.
-
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:20 AM) I wouldn't mind Weaver, but I'm not gaga over him either. I just don't know if he could pitch under pressure. His stuff is good enough to pitch anywhere, Cell included, but I think there are real makeup concerns. I'd be game if it didn't take much but not if it meant giving up a prized prospect. He sure didn't handle pitching in NY very well.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) Everyone hates it because you're trying to watch the game and people are jumping up in front of you. That's a good time to take a drink of your beer.
-
QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) He went to full counts entirely too often for a guy who wears down easily. Seemed like he did a nice job for the most part getting ahead of the hitters but then would refuse to throw them a strike. I just don't have any faith in him, 5th starter or not. Not having faith in a 5th starter is the concern of fans of any ML team.

I agree with the Sox thinking on this move. Shingo, as popular as he was, was a 36 year old free agent to be that was going be used as the last man in the bullpen. There is NO potential there of any kind. Jenks, while young and raw, just might develop into an All Star reliever someday. He does have that kind of potential.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) He makes very tough plays look routine all the time. He's an awesome 3rd baseman, period. Glad everybody is recognizing Joe's defense. He's damn good defensively and I'd keep him for that reason. If we must acquire Randa or some insurance, do so, but trade some prospects (I'm not so antsy about trading prospects anymore since the performances of Olivo, Reed, Wells, Fogg on other teams). Keep Joe. His defense will save us some World Series games a la Brooksie Robinson in the 60s. Ok, now Joe Crede is damn good at 3B, but Brooks Robinson he's not.

We have been able to reduce the magic number by 9 since the All Star break!
-
QUOTE(KJean @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) I obviously think he's VERY valuable. He's only made 4 errors this entire season, the last one being on May 15th. And he makes tough defensive plays, like the two during the 2nd inning tonight, look easy. A lot of people point to his offensive as being a sore spot. It would definitely help if he could bring his average up. But it seems to me that when the Sox get themselves in a tough position, you can count on Crede to help em out in one way or another. I think it would be quite foolish if they traded Joe. Welcome to Soxtalk and I agree with your assessment of Joe Crede 100%.

Here's the deal, folks. With 30K fans in attendance, you are going to get more and more that come to the game for the sake of entertainment than die-hard Sox fans. No, I don't do the wave, as a rule. There are exceptions to the rule, like if I was with a bunch of kids and it was all about them having fun. If they wanted to do the wave, then I'd participate for their sake.

Another great win to spoil Ordonez's return to the Cell.

QUOTE(fry the twinkies @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) You have no faith then if you don't believe your team can come back. I still think the Cubs can catch the Cards. They have 14 head-to-head left w/ them. Typical of Cub fans. :headshake
