YASNY replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) I'm lost. Stay that way. In this case, you're better off. Trust me. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Go straight to G then call me. You'll be fine. ok ... where's G? and IM me your number.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Not if you go straight to G. What time are you getting here anyway..? Planning on leaving here about 7 ... should put me there about 1 o'clock

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) This is the first time they've sold the tickets this way though.. if you bought tickets from the Sox, most also bought a pass. Are you saying I'm going to have problems parking?

Well, I was cetrainly misled.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) I heard this on the post-game show last night: The 1984 Detroit Tigers came out of the gates in a very similar fashion, only to go on and win the World Series. I'm not saying...I'm just saying. They were 30 games over after 40 games. Nothing similar about it.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) But doesn't it make more sense for a profitable team to eat some of the $ in the contracts for the older players & deal them? Oswalt is one of the best young starters in MLB. I just don't see the logic for a team playing in the 4th/5th biggest market that is drawing 32K+/gm to deal him. I would imagine Pettite or Clemens would go first. I'd say it depends on what they can get for those guys and what the direction the team wants to go. Sure trdaing Clemens and/or Pettitte makes more sense, but the trade market will make those decisions. Most people thought it made more sense for Beane to trade Zito before either of the other two. Didn't work out that way though.

I'll be there for Friday and Sunday games. I would love to tip a few with some of you wonderful people. And if you don't qualify as wonderful, I'm not picky.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) yes we have, we went 2/3 against them. The only proven thing about the playoffs over the last few years is that there are MANY ways to win games and to lose them: pitching, offense, defense, baserunning, stupidity, fan interference, bad/good luck... .... umpires.
-
I think Randa would love the chance to play for a contender in whatever role ... A career of KC, and now last place Cinci?
-
I'm more concerned with Boston than Texas. The Rangers were extremely hot when we went to Arlington. A summer in the Texas heat will wear those guys down.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) That's probably what they want to do. That team is going nowhere fast. All their stars are old for the most part. Clemens won't be around long and that contract of his will make it pretty hard to get rid of him. A guy like Oswalt or Lidge would bring in a lot of good, young talent to rebuild with. Bingo. If they are moving those two, they are throwing in the towel on the immediate future and building a solid base of good young players. With Biggio, Bagwell and Clemens reaching the end of the line and Pettitte probably as valuable as he will ever be, it makes sense.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) Is this the one you're talking about? Nope. The one I'm talking about is from si-dot-com

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Just spoke to my Cincy 'source', he says NO WAY Randa for Crede goes down. They have this Edwin Encarnacion kid they are in love with and grooming as their 3B of the future. He suspects Randa will be dealt by the deadline, but for starting pitching. FWIW. I think Cincy would JUMP at a Randa for Crede deal. Even if they have this kid waiting in the wings, Crede will have significant value this off season, and Randa walks.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Why are you convinced they want to trade Oswalt? Guardado is my first choice but Lidge would make a fine addition as well. It's expected around the league for the bullpen to change for contenders. It's like a revolving door. It won't upset chemistry too much if at all. Dealing Viz away & picking up Lidge/Guardado is a smart move. I sure can't say why they'd trade Oswalt, but I'd like to see what that damn article says. The only scenario I can think of is that Houston might want to do an Indians type purge .. start over from scratch type thing.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Ahhhh I didn't know that. Yeah I would NEVER expect them to pick the sox over the cubs at the start of the season. I thought this was just set up recently.... Can I still hate them??? I'd say, Feel free.
-
Of course it has nothing to do with our chances this year. The Cubs won a playoff series, then followed it up with one of the biggest choke jobs in the history of sports.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) I've said it once, I will say it again, I would rather have 10,000 honest to go sox fans, than 40,000 yahoo's taking up space. I like it better when there is almost nobody there so I can move seats if I want to, get in line for food faster, bathroom breaks take 2 min and I dont have to put up with ignorant people who walk down the aisle during a pitch. I honestly couldnt give 2 s***s about our attendance, at all. Then you want the Sox to be like the Royals. Helluva fan.

QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Looks like the Twins will make a trade for Burroghs of SD.. I want Oswalt&Lidge... I dont care if we have to give up 5 top prospects I want to win it now I heard that there is an article on si.com that links Oswalt with the Sox. I don't know for sure as I couldn't find it, or couldn't access it because I'm not a premium member or whatever. If someone has access and can find it, I"d sure like to know what that article says.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) PLEASE NOTE: This instant poll is in no way a scientific measurement. It is provided purely as an interactive feature. A Web-savvy person could easily figure out a way to vote as often as he or she likes and skew the results. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to prevent such disreputable behavior. :lol I see our reputation precedes us.

I tried this once but used post-it note glue. I don't know what went wrong.
-
Apparently, this is an unusual situation for you. I'm sympathetic.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Even though Miguel Cabrera is more worthy right. People want to see Griffey because he used to be one of the best in the game and is just now showing some of that great offense he had in the 90's. The guy can't play defense anymore and doesn't compare to Cabrera numbers wise. HR: Tie RBI: Griffey by 1 Runs: Cabrera by 9 AVG: Cabrera by 60 points OBP: Cabrera by 44 points OPS: Cabrera by 112 points The All-Star game has become a farce. Griffey's lost a step, but he's not a defensive liability by any means. He'd be better off as a corner OF'er than in CF though.

QUOTE(trexer @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Miley was a pretty good manager who became the scapegoat for the incompetent Reds GM O'Brien who opted to pick up losers like Eric Milton, Ben Weber & David Weathers instead of trying to rejuvenate the Reds minor league system that has ranked among the worst farm systems for years now. I've heard a few "whispers" that Miley was becoming a tyrant and the Reds players were not happy campers. I don't claim this to have any real validity, just something I heard.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) Just can't trust them for anything It's anti-Sox conspiracy, I'm telling ya.
