QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) I would too. His 91 MPH straight fastball doesn't impress me much. I think we've all got the point that you aren't impressed. -

Now that Yankees are playing someone besides the Cubs, they're getting their asses beat. 5-0 Tampa Bay. -

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Finally a player slides around the tag correctly! Woohoo! That's a lost art. -

BMac's got a nice little cushion to work with. Ozzie will try and get him the win, then pull him. -

FYI ... Veritek just hit a 3 run jack 9-4 BoSox over the Tribe -
Timo for Patterson? That sounds more reasonable.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) No, because most of the time, his speed can make up for an initial mis-judged ball. And his speed also allows him to get to a lot of balls that Everett wouldn't even smell Scott needs to take about a million fly balls this offseason.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) Willie had two great nights. Saturday night and last night. Stole a huge base on Saturday and had a nice sacrifice bunt on Sunday. He's shown significant improvement over last year in both deparments. That being said, he's probably the odd man out. No purpose Perez stays. He also had a pretty nice hit last night. Should have been ruled a 2b but was ruled a 1b and a n error.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) If its good natured and no malice, then by all means, let him have it. I read the original post and thought that taunting was the idea. Likewise.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Personally, i'm just amazed at how rapidly Joe went from having an amazing and functional swing in the first few weeks of the season back to flying open and swinging for the fences every time he's up. I've been able to watch the last two games and I can think of quite a few time Joe's went to right or center in those games.

QUOTE(Adam G @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) It's good natured. He gives me s*** about the Sox when they're not doing well. His son plays with my dog. That's cool. If the guy won't be insulted by it, go for it and some fun.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) What? Perhaps I misinterpretted. My apologies.

QUOTE(Adam G @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) Joe Borowski lives in my building and I've gotta think of something snappy to say to him about Jeter hitting his first career grand slam off him in New York. Any suggestions? Show some class and don't say anything.

"You could make a deal for Crede right now." Interesting. If he's so atrocious, I wonder why all these GM's would want him.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Haven't you all heard? The Indians will pass us in just under 2 weeks. Changing threads to take your subtle pot shots?

QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Pardon my ignorance. If the rule isn't 'a tie goes to the runner', what is it? I thought that was a pretty basic rule. No, that's a pretty basic myth. There is no such thing as a tie. He's either safe or out.

I wonder how much concern the 2000 Cleveland Indians had with the White Sox. I've been a baseball fan too long to just dismiss somebody because they are not expected to contend. The 1969 Cubs had an 8 game lead in August, and were playing great. Were they concerned with the Mets? Crunch all the numbers you want about win totals if we do this or that. Calculate how easy it should be. Then go look at the last two weeks of the 1964 NL season, or the Yankees run at the end of 1978.

I can't see how Timo could have a continued role on this club.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) The Twins still have a chance. Cleveland has been on an unbelievable roll, and are going to cool off, probably this week and next when they play Boston 6 times. Minnesota hasn't played well the last week. They'll heat up again. You may be right. But Cleveland could be in second place in a few days, also.

I, at first, questioned having Frank lead-off the inning. But, like was mentioned earlier, when I saw they were pitching around him, I saw the logic of the move. After Frank, we had the top of the order with a runner on and no outs. Ozuna has fairly decent speed as well, though he almost got his ass picked off of second. WE had a little luck that inning. First, Kent did have the bag on the Pods bunt and he should have been out, then a good throw from the catcher would have nailed Ozuna on the pick off attempt.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 07:48 AM) People were getting all excited about the Cubs a week ago as they were chasing a team with a comparable record to the White Sox. They are quiet now. I suspect all the Cleveland buzz will simmer down by the end of the week. 9 wins in a row, but still 8 1/2 out doesn't seem too promising to me. Are you worried about the Twins or do we have this division all wrapped up?
-
If you consider Minnesota a threat, you have to consider Cleveland one as well. They could be one of those young teams that is beginning to believe in themselves and getting on one of those magical rolls, like the 2000 Sox. At this point, I'd consider them a potential threat worthy of keeping an eye on.

Last year, Podsednik hit about 10 homers. This year, ZERO so far. That's the key to Scotty's OBP rebound. He just tries to put the ball in play and run like hell.

Lima has been lousy, but he can occasionally throw a gem. I hope we get the head case version of him tonight. -
QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Welcome to soxtalk Mark Buehrle? Mark wasn't exactly labelled as a phenom. He was labeled more like Mark who?
