QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) How many people on this board do you think remembers that sketch? And Yas...I don't mean to be nitpicky, nor do I want to get into an argument, but it's not pro-abortion...it's pro-choice. I have a couple of friends who don't agree with abortion and would never get an abortion (unless necessary), but are for the freedom of an individual to choose if she wants one or not. Sorry, it just kind of irks me when someone says pro-abortion and that's not what it is at all. Now, back to the thread...... Then again, it could be called pro-murder-of-the-unborn. But who am I to quibble?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Well, there are still a lot of wierd and unanswered aspects about the Pentagon attack. Talk about food for conspiracies. I do entirely concur with Wedge about the apalling lack of scrutiny and investigation post 9-11, compared to the level of investigation that Columbia got. "They" investigate what "they" want to investigate, and ignore the rest. The Kennedy assasination and 9/11 come to mind immediately.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) Math is hard... Let's go SHOPPING!![/i] OK, with that out of the way, I'm going to try to support the official, non-conspircy version as to what brought the towers down (whether anybody knew the attack was coming is a separate conspiracy issue). I don't know if the PhD guy's assertion that a jet fuel fire can't burn hot enough to melt steel is valid or not. If it's valid, why were the initial official explanations of the collapses not immediately brought under scrutiny? If the fuel fires did burn hot enough to slag the steel beam supports, then what you have to factor into all that physics is the instantaneous disappearance of the weight-bearing structural integrity of the buildings at the point that a critical threshold temperature was reached. At that point, all of the concrete and non-supportive steel is nothing but weight to be pulled fown by gravity in the 9-10 seconds you would expect it to take. Then again, if jet fuel can burn hot enough to melt steel girders then why wasn't it hot enough to melt a computer moniter sitting upon a filing cabinet at the edge of the hole in the Pentagon?

Thanks wedge. I'm no scientist, engineer or math major, but that sounded rather convincing to me.

Thankfully we didn't resign this maggot.

QUOTE(mwolfson @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) I know in the limited time back, we've all seen what the Big Hurt can do but has anyone noticed some of his projected numbers, especially for home runs if he continues at this pace... Currently he has 4 HR's in his limited time playing with the Sox but if he continues to see limited time like he has he still PROJECTED to HIT 47 HOME RUNS.... WOW. I know it's early in "his" season but DAMN! This is a classic example of numbers skewed by too small of a sample size.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) Admins actually have the ability to do more things than mods do. For example an admin can ban people, while mods can't. Lucky for you!

The U.S. may be the favorite, but they certainly won't be prohibitive favorites. There will be some very good teams in that tourney. If you remember correctly, the U.S. failed to qualify for the last olympics because they lost one game to Mexico.

The kid who was hospitalized after being hit in the head by the line drive was released from the hospital. According to the article, he was visited by Aaron Rowand on June 1. http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/yr...uth/161syt1.htm

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 06:12 AM) Ditto for the gay marriage amendment we were previously threatened with. The constitution is much more the living embodiment of America than the flag. Letting lawmakers wipe their ass with the constitution to make flags safe from protesters is :headshake Politically, we don't often see eye to eye. Here's one instance where I'm glad to say that we do.

I don't know if DH has had a bit of a tired arm recently or he's been hurting in anyway, but we all know he he hasn't been nearly as sharp recently as he had been. His last appearance was the blown save vs. the Padres on Saturday. With today's off day, he will have had 5 consecutive days without making an appearance. Hopefully, this break will go a long way to getting him back to being sharp on the mound.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 04:34 AM) We've won 6 of our last 9. They've lost 3 of their last 4 by scores of 8-1, 9-1, 15-5. I really don't care what they've done ... we've played below par recently.

Am I missing something here? They removed a TC monument to pacify this idiot?
-
I have always believed that the WTC was taken down by a controlled demolition, or implosion. The way those towers went down, straight down, put that thought in my head shortly after the initial shock had worn off. Watching those buildings collapse reminded me of many newsclips of planned demolitions that I had seen over the years. Those planes came into those buildings at different angles and at different elevations, yet both buildings collapsed in the same manner. That's just too much of a coincidence for me to accept.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) Hence the need for a constitutional amendment to prohibit such activity. No way, Nuke. This proposed amendment means nothing. Flags can easily be replaced. This is not worth opening a constitutional convention. Once the convention is opened, to prevent this piece of symbolic protest, then those bastards can .... now, pay attention here .... add, change, delete anything they want to the constitution. The right to bear arms can be repealed, and there won't be a damn thing you or anyone else can do about it, for example. They'll just come and take your guns. You pro-abortion people out there, they can tack on an admendment making abortion unconstitutional. That would supercede Roe v Wade. Would you get to vote on it? Nope. It's a done deal at that point. Do not let those crooked bastards have access to the constitution unless it is something very f***ing important. An anti-flag burning amendment does not qualify. Not even close.

Considering that the first half of this year was already shot for him, I'm glad he had it checked out and will be able to start healthy next spring.

The only time I'm happy about a Yankee win, is if the Sox need the Yankees to win.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) 8-4 Giants, and the Twinkies STILL SUCK! I heard a quick run down of the scores on the radio, and if I'm not mistaken, the Twins were the only AL team to lose tonight.

We haven't looked too good lately. I wouldn't gloat too much.

I do not regret this trade at all. Now, if Freddie blows out his arm and Reed makes the HOF, I may have to reconsider.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) That's the whole point. Its the minors and they need to learn these things now. Especially since a guy like Josh Fields has proven and earned nothing. I would have done the exact samething. There is no excuse for being lazy. But Fields is a first round draft pick. Shines shouldn't show him up like that. :rolly
