  2. Legalized thievery. Expect, at some point, some of the victums of this kind of crap to go into the market for RPG launchers.
  3. Jay Mariotti, the epitome of professionaism. I really hope they run his ass out of Chicago.
  4. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) I went there for a Cubs-'Stros game (a friend of mine is a huuuuge Cub fan). We went for batting practice, when the roof is closed. Great place to watch BP. Then, right before game time, they open the roof...and THAT'S when I fell in love with the place. Sure, the short porch and the hill are strange, but that's what people like in stadiums...quirks and differentiators. Look at all the parks people talk about: Fenway has the Green Monster, the strange angles and the short porch in right. Yankee Stadium has the monuments. Wrigley has the ivy, baskets and the ability to hit it onto the street. Camden has the B&O Warehouse. Royals Stadium has the fountains. SBC has McCovey Cove. And many more. Granted, some of this is the surrounding area, but the Astros are on that list with Tal's Hill...still a better park than the Astrodome and Ameriquest in Arlington. I was mildly impressed with Ameriquest. It's a decent ballpark. The only thing I question is they completely enclosed the stadium. I'd hate to sit in the place on one of Texas July scorchers. No breeze can get into that place.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) Well I consider Aaron a .300 hitter, anyways I agree though if Borch could hit .280 in the majors with his power he's without a doubt a starter, however even though I wish Borch the best I just don't think he's going to be able to, I definitely hope I'm wrong though. I'm not holding my breath, either. However, if he can get in somewhat of a groove, I'd rather see JoBo than Timo.
  6. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) I've been out of town, what happened to Marte? He strained his bicep while pitching the other night. Did not get in enough warmup pitches as the Sox went down 1-2-3 on 5 pitches.
  7. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) this game hurt that is all I can imagine. Gees, Choi is an ex-Cub. That has to really suck.
  8. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 02:41 AM) That is 8 mil wasted :headshake But it's only for 5 years.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) If he gets up to .275, Kenny needs to promote the hell out of him and try to drive that trade value up. I'm sorry, but with guys like Anderson and Sweeney and Young, as well as the OF'ers we got on the big club, Borchard would need to hit .330+ to have a shot to stick... How many .300 hitters do we have in our OF? I'd say a solid .280 with his power and Borch is a starter.
  10. Baj's number are very impressive, but KW just had a lok at all these guys recently. If he thinks Jenks is the one that will help the team more, then so be it. This ain't about being fair. It's about winning a pennant.
  11. WE need a PHT mod to fix the thread title. This June, not July.
  12. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) If we are talking trades with the Giants that aren't going to happen, what about "The Fonz." Plays third, pretty good bat, pretty good defense. NOt as much power, but that's ok. I heard he hit the DL today.

    Jose Canseco

QUOTE(Jake @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) I unfortunately don't have WCIU here, so what were the Diamondbacks hitting? Were they hitting his splitter or his fastball or what? I just seem to remember his splitter being hung many a time and being hit out of the ballpark. Bad night for poor Canseco. I think Jose Canseco hasn't had a good night in quite sometime.
  14. Cory Snyder Ed Speizio Woody Held Wayne Causey Bee Bee Richards Buddy Bradford Alan Bannister This thread could go on for a long time.
  15. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) Getting owned 8-1 by Shawn f***ing Estes is a lot worse than getting owned 9-1 by D-Train. :rolly That's true, but apparently, that Cub fan wasn't quick witted enough to retort with that.
  16. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) Can anyone pull out Omar's defensive stats for this year? YASNY? I see you are lurking around ready to tear my trade idea to smithereens (just kidding) It's not a bad idea on the surface, I just think there are too many hurdles to overcome to make it doable.
  17. The Giants cannot, by rule, trade Omar until after June 30 due to the fact he's an offseason free agent signing. Then we have the problem of the contract, which KW would not go for 3 years for Omar in the off season, why would he do so now? Then you add the fact that KW thought he had a deal, and Omar bolted when a better contract came his way ... unlike Jermaine Dye.
  18. Dripping water and Christina Aguilera music? OMG! The horror of it! :headshake
  19. That lady looked real happy to have that cucumber.
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) There will be a reunion event at the Saturday game, which is the same one they are wearing the throwbacks for: Very good. Thanks for the info.
  21. Mark's definitely been a tough luck pitcher. These things go in cycles. I believe the Sox are 10-4 in games MB has started, which is really the important thing.
  22. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) I would like to see a reunion for the Sox players that are still alive from the 1959 team at the game. (Luis Aparicio , Billy Pierce ect) They should also wear throwbacks for that game. The giants honored the team this weekend from the giants-indians series of 1954. I believe they are planning on wearing throwbacks, but I haven't heard anything about a reunion.

    Bad loss

I usually stick up for Ozzie, but I questioned two decisions at the time they were made. Letting Buerhle hit and pulling Pollitte for Hermy. Yet, I can understand why he made those decisions and also the decision to pull Buehrle when he did. Letting MB hit in that situation, I believe Ozzie was trying to get him the CG shutout. With Pods and Iguchi up next, you'd have to like your odds for getting that run home. I couldn't believe Pods took the 0-2 fastball right down the middle with a runner on third and one out. WTF was he thinking? Or. more accurately, why the f*** wasn't he thinking. Pulling Politte for Hermy is just the "give it to your closer" mentality, which I disagree with. Ozzie may be trying to establish something long term with Hermy as closer, but he has been shaky lately and Cliff has been lights out. I didn't like that move when it happened.
  24. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) I would agree, I thought Konerko was at worst "average" defensively last year and he's at least the same this year. He's certainly not a liability over there and he doesn't make very many mental mistakes in the field, if at all. I do not see him in the Gold Glove class, purely an observation on my part. Paulie's no gold glover, but he's certainly not the slug many make him out to be. Even prior to this year, he's been decent.
