  1. They did all that after you shot at them? How neanderthal! :headshake
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 04:58 AM) On threads being closed and say merged with other threads, we do try to make a post saying that we are going to close something if its inappropriate or the quality of it has just gone downhill. Of course if most of you wanted to, we could always PM that person who started the thread to let them know that we had to close or merge their thread, but that would happen quite a lot. Of course any feedback we get on this is good. I would think that the reasons for a closed or merged thread would be fairly obvious. Also, I do not understand this concept of "ownership" of a thread by the person that started it, as in ... "my thread was locked" .... once it's posted, it's everybody's thread.
  3. I hope this thread serves the purpose of educating some of the people that making these posts and threads as to what is considered quality and what is considered garbage. If you want to be a valued member of a quality Sox fan message board, then you'll heed the general advice within this thread, and in Heads' announcement, and you'll be welcomed with open arms. If you decide to ignore all of this and keep posting trash, you'll soon be as forgotten around around here as last summer's mosquito bites. qwerty, I agree with you. I'd guess "troll" as well. An occasional meaningful bump is one thing, but that was freakin' ridiculous.
  4. QUOTE(robin_ventura_eternal @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) again i have to say, damn, you all are uptight. how are non regulars ruining this web site?? its just a forum, remember. i dont go around insulting peoples posts at other sites that i dont agree with or dont like. you all are just not nice sometimes! we all like the sox, dont we? cant we all just get along? You are right. People are uptight lately. There is certainly justification for that with what's been going on around here. However, I personally didn't see anything wrong with your post. If I met Carlton Fisk, I'd damn sure say something about it somewhere on Soxtalk. Hopefully, when we get this tendency of people to trash Soxtalk taken care of, people will lighten up a bit. Hang in there.
  5. Those big late season series we have against the Twins will determine who our playoff starters will be, if we do make the playoffs. If these guys choke against Minnesota, it will become a moot point.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) well i figured the obvious answer, thought maybe there was something else to it. does a jacket make that big of a difference? I don't know. I've never been a pitcher. But it must keep that arm warm or they wouldn't bother.
  7. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) one game and everyones opinion is changed, he played great but lets see if he can do this again Carl's been struggling but he's a proven quality major league hitter. My opinion hasn't changed when he was slumping and it it hasn't now that he appears to be getting back on track.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) Don't worry YAS.. you can not be here, hell.. you can have never even met me, and "someone" will say you're indulging. We can't have that happening, now can we?
  9. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 07:10 AM) Modesi and Jordan arn't the answers, the kids they brought up arn't the answer. Chipper Jones could be on the DL for awhile. I am sure they would love him. I cannot see getting anyone who could help us this year though, as they have two starting pitchers hurt, a terrible bullpen (interest in Vizcaino or Takatsu in addition? haha), their 3B is hurt, the SS and 2B are struggling, their catcher isn't having the same year...so I could see it not even being for AAA kids if we dealt with them. Which is exactly why I threw the 3rd team suggestion into my post.
  10. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Congrats! And hopefully you can find out the baby's sex and it cooperates -- unlike me when I was in the womb who just kept mooning the ultrasound thingy. Why did the phrase "That figures!" run through my head when I read that post?
  11. To a certain extent, yes they are. All options should be left open for acquiring the best talent available. Having said that, I cannot blame the White Sox for not negotiating with Boras after the way he used them in the ARod fiasco. If I was in the Sox' situation, I wouldn't completely slam the door on Boras free agents and draftees, but I'd be very cautious with my approach. On the other hand, teams that are willing to deal with Boras, and have the cash to do so, are at an advantage to the rest of the teams. The NYY, BoSox, LAD, CHC can draft the good Boras clients that KC and Pitts pass by and get some real quality talent at the bottom of the 1st round. It's not a good scenario for competeive balance in baseball, but it is reality as we know it.
  12. It's gotta be booze, drugs or something.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Don't forget... I am having sex with all of you as well. :rolly I always pick the wrong damn weekends.
  14. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) I hope Kenny spends a lot of time thinking about this though. Kenny's never been one to think about dismissing an idea without at least checking it out, if it's one that he thinks will be of help.
  15. I seriously think this is an extreme longshot at best, and reallistically damn near impossible. I wouldn't put too much effort into supporting one point of view or the other on this issue.
  16. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) I would live with that too frankly. You know if the Yanks decide to sell anyone, they will not trade the player to any AL East team (maybe to the Os just to screw the Bo Sox) so there is a chance they do what you suggest with the Twinkies. Just remember that going out and getting the superstar player doesn't always work. That's what got NY into this mess.
  17. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:09 AM) Crede + Bmac is a no brainer, but I doubt Steinny goes for that. If he got two stud prospects, something they have none of, he could at least think about it. You know Steinbrenner though. He'd panic and ship BMac and Anderson to the Twins for Radke, or some such s***, and we'd regret it for years.
  18. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) YASNY What would you be willing to give up for a ARod? Would you be willing to give up Anderson, Crede and BMac? I would, in a heart beat. Prospects are just that....prospects. I'd have to give that some serious thought. Crede and BMac, I'd say go for it. I guess a lot depends on much $$$$ the Yankees throw in to the deal.
  19. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) Thanks YASNY. I have been really thinking about this the past 3 days seeing the Yanks implode against the Brewers. Yes, Kenny should pick up the phone and ask. It cannot hurt can it? The one thing folks may not realize is that the Yankees plight is not just restricted ot this year. They are screwed even for next year and maybe even the year after. They have ridiculous $ invested in Giambi who no team will take. Same thing for Kevin Brown and Randy Johnson, both of who will only get worse and more injury prone after this year. They have absolutely no bull pen for next year, and they just cannot buy their way in anymore. They need young, cheap pitching badly and there is no way they get it except trading some stud this year. Mariano Rivera is the other chip they have and I have even thought about maybe the Sox calling for him. But if one out of Shingo or Viz settles in, with Hermy doing great, I rather have Alex than Rivera any day for this year and for years to come. Also, considering Toronto and Os have really good young pitching, they will be good next year and year after too. The Yanks have a battle on their hand despite this huge payroll. Yep. The Yanks have dug themselves a deep hole they just can't fill with money to climb out of. It'll be interesting to see what MLB does to help them get back on top, as everyone knows the Yankees winning is good for baseball. :rolly
  20. I have had this thought run through my mind recently, but because there woiuld be so many obstacles to overcome, I just dismissed it. However, it certainly wouldn't hurt to pick up the phone and see what the Boss and Cashman are thinking.
  21. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) What credibility The credibility that allows him to stay employeed by the SunTimes and ESPN.

QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) Players would be considered a puss if they wore a jacket, but the pitchers do and no one messes with them and the jackets are so f***in sweet to. The pitchers wore jackets on the bases and between innings even back in those days.
  23. QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) He shocked me with how well he is doing. and go Jose . Yes, Jose has been a pleasant shock. Still, he's always had the talent. Having his family with him and El Duque around has apparently helped him get his brain functioning.
  24. When I read mariotti's column yesterday morning, I almost laughed. He is so transparent is ridiculous. Everyone knows he has a bone to pick with Reinsdorf, and yet his column not only presented "facts" that were contrary to what every other writer in Chicago had to say about the Skiles signing, but the perspective that JR blinked was also way off base from every other writer. I'd love to see mariotti take JR to court, and have his wimpy ass owned and his credibility shot to hell in the courtroom.
