  1. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 13, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Its like I said before. If both or even one of these guys gets it going the rest of the leauge wont be able to touch us. And they will "get going". They are too good not to.
  2. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ May 13, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) Does anyone know whats the status of Jon G's contract? I know El-Duque, Buerhle, Garcia, and Contreas are all locked down for next year but im pretty sure Garland will be the only free agent? Will it be restricted or unrestricted. And if unrestricted, what are the odds of re-signing him? He's having an awesome year and I think KW should reward him with a solid 3 year deal- similar to Buerhle's contract. Not that I want to think about next year already (with this years success) but im sure its in the back of the mind of many other Sox fans as well. Anyone with info on this matter please put your two cents in. GO SOX!!! First of all, there are no "restricted" free agents in baseball. Garland is arbitration eligible next year, so the Sox have control of him for 2006.
  3. Hmmm. People seem to forget that we played a part in freeing WESTERN Europe.

    Classic stuff, there!
  5. How's this for being in good company? Sportscenter said Garland and Willis are one of only three pairs of pitchers to win their first 7 starts in the same season. One pair, in 1913, included Walter Johnson. The other pair, in 1901, included Christy Mathewson. Wow!
  6. Regarding Robin in the booth, I believe I heard mention that he'd rejoin them for the series in Anahiem, against Los Angeles.
  7. Here's a little tidbit of information that I don't recall seeing mentioned anywhere in PHT .... With the Twins idle yesterday, the Sox lead has increased to 5 full games!!!

    National ID Cards

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 13, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) Now, how exactly does one obtain a federally approved ID Card? The government could really stick it to illegal immigrants if proof of citizenship/naturalization papers are required.. Apparently, the government is more concerned about US citizens being identifiable than illegal immigrants.

I still like the suggestion I saw a couple of days ago .... The 9th Inning Ozzies
  10. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 12, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) Wouldn't that be forfeiting the game then? You are at the feet of your schedule, you can't just say, I don't want to play today. Especially considering they don't have a game the day after Sunday and they are playing in KC Tuesday. That means they have to play. I don't think they could just play the makeup game/s at Baltimore because that would be loss of revenue and 1 more away game than they were supposed to have. If US Cellular is undergoing major weather problems, they would have to play it on a neutral site if anything. Just like FLA last year. Apparently, the CBA gives the Orioles the right to accept or decline under these circumstances.
  11. I can't believe Neyer stooped to such a childish level. I may not always agree with the guy, but I thought he was a professional. Apparently, being a professional does not currently require journalistic integrity. I will say that Neyer virtually sticking his tongue out at all that is White Sox makes the fact that we are 6-0 against his beloved Royals even sweeter. Grow up, Rob.
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 13, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) I'm putting my money on DR. That team is killer. My gut reaction .... I agree.
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:41 AM) Yeah can't he select a bench coach though (although it definitely wouldn't be Torre). He CAN select Torre. But, hell, FRancona is the RED Sox manager and Torre's a Yankee. Why the hell would he want to do something like that?
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) Knowing Joe Torre, if he's any part of the All - Star Game, he's probably going with the idea in mind to recruit Garland ALA Esteban Loaiza 2004. It won't be Torre. The Red Sox were the AL Champs last year. Francona will have the honors.
  15. Great performance by Jon Garland. He stepped up like an ace against a very good and very dangerous Oriole line up. That 3-2 change to Tejada in the 8th was the BIG pitch of the game. Garland was a star with the glove as well as his arm. He made 2 very good plays on the mound tonight, though an assist goes to AJ for yelling for the ball on that play at the plate. All in all, a very good ballgame to watch.
  16. I was emailed what I thought was a legit Letterman top 10 list. After a few responses I decided that it probably wasn't legit and it was expressed that it was pushing the bounds of good taste. So I deleted the thread. Apologies to anyone who was offended.
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 12, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) ...if they need to go to it, yes I agree, but Zam and Prior are capable of going 9 innings with no problem. Gonna be close, hard fought games. Dusty will let those guys throw 150 pitches in needed. :headshake
  18. Pitching. Pitching, and more pitching. Pitchers can be traded for whatever else we need.
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 12, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Australia will OWN your asses. That is all. Crikey! Now I'm worried.
