  1. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) I never heard of the story until about 5 minutes ago on CNN. They showed the parents when they 1st got to the crime scene, not really showing any sorrow at all. Then they had the dad on for a interview and the same thing, just very unemotional. The whole thing was just weird, and I do believe that the parents had something to do with it. Everybody reacts differently in this type of situation. There is no correct way to act when you lose a child.

    20 questions.

I stumped it with "third base".
  3. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Apparently we should change our team motto to 'No Respect'.... We are the Rodney Dangerfields of baseball.
  4. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) I just find it funny that 1) he is rehashing something that seems to have been settled 2) tells half a story (the Maggs thing) and 3) the best thing he could find to write about a team that is 15-4 is that the manager has a big mouth. Ozzie does have a big mouth, but the writer might try writing the full story instead of bits and pieces to make a story, so to speak. Mariotti pulled the same crap when we did his obligatory Ozzie bashing column.
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) The only problem I have with that lineup is Crede batting sixth. I know this may sound like BS but why move Crede up in the lineup and put more pressure on him to produce? He is having great success batting in the lower third of the order. In other words, why mess with a good thing? I see your point, but he's one of the guys who seems to be putting the ball in play regularly. I'm thinking this setup for just one game against a HOT Harden.
  6. How about this? LF Podsednik 2B Willie DH Everett CF Rowand C Pierzynski 3B Crede 1B Gload RF Timo SS Uribe
  7. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) I think we need as many lefties in the lineup as possible against Harden... LF Podsednik 2B Willie DH Everett 1B Konerko RF Gload CF Rowand C Pierzynski 3B Crede SS Uribe However, the thought of Gload playing RF makes me want to crap my pants. We could see Timo in RF tomorrow night. That's why I said Ozzie should rest PK. Let Gload play 1B.
  8. QUOTE(Darren @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Thanks for the info, and aren't the mods always right no matter what board you're on?? -Darren A veteran, I see.
  9. Ozzie needs to sit PK and Dye for this one. Ozuna and Gload need to be in the lineup. I wouldn't mind seeing Harris in for Iguchi, either.
  10. Why is it that every time Ozzie makes a substitution to the starting lineup, somebody has to throw a f***ing fit. If you want Ozzie to play the same 9 guys day in and day out, they'll burn out in August. Just ask any member of the '69 Cubs. Great game by Jon Garland!
  11. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) He most certainly is a value pick. Thank you. That's all I was trying to say.
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Suppose they play .500 ball the rest of the season, they'd finish at 87-75. Probably not enough to take the Central division but certainly in the hunt. Let's say of the remaining 143 games they play at a .525 pace, going 75-68. That puts them on track to win 90 games, possibly enough to win the division. A .525 pace certainly isn't out of the question. Sure, they could play worse but they can definitely play better too. I'd say there is ample reason for optimism. As they say, these games in April mean just as much as the games in September.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) But are they any better? He adds no value to their franchise at the current time. He will cost a lot of money while sitting on the bench doing nothing and he is not even a sure thing to be a good QB. I think they dropped the ball there and could have used defense. That's not the point I'm arguing. He's a value pick for a team that needs an understudy QB. He won't help the team this year. That's a given.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) I think its bulls*** because the billy goat tavern has long been a cubs fans hangout, so why would the owner curse the team? It's not bulls***. It happened.
  15. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Cashman admitted in print that he goofed on re-signing Jon Lieber. He tried to go cheap, didn't want to pay him 8 mil. Phillies get him for 7 mil per, and he's 4-0 so far, anchoring the Phils' staff. Good for them! They throw money at every player on the market and then they try to cheap out on a guy like Lieber? Stupid.... Leiber's a pro. I wish we could have gotten him for ELo instead of Contreras.
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) I thought the only terrible team we played was the Royals...the other teams are expected to contend for their division... Detroit, Cleveland and Minnesota were all picked to finish above us.
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) I hate to say it, but I'm worried about the same things. There's no way the pace can be kept up - we're going to have to find some other ways to win. I'm not as pessimistic as this, but I do think we're over-achieving right now - look at the schedule. Everyone we have played is - to be candid - terrible, save Minnesota. Now as we start to play some real teams, we'll see if this holds up. The west coast trip should hold some better answers. Of course we aren't going to keep up this pace. I don't think we'll finish the season with 120 wins. But, we can keep up a good pace.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) Winning hideous is more like it.. Wow. You nailed that one.
  19. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Jesus Christ, you'd think we were 0-19 and it was already time to pack the season up. We have had good pitching, clutch hitting, and good defense. If the offense gets on track, I think we can maintain this type of winning play. Well, we certainly aren't going to maintain a .750 pace.
  20. Wow. That's a very negative outlook. You're entitled to your opinion though.
  21. QUOTE(Darren @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) Thanks! I'm glad I found this place, it's good to know there are so many die-hard Sox fans out there! Of course I can see reading and posting here might take up a lot of my free time, but hey, it's baseball season again!! -Darren Enjoy yourself here. Post often. Green text signifies sarcasm, do keep that in mind as you browse. And the most important thing to remember, southsider2k5 is always right!
  22. QUOTE(Darren @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) Here is my blog, it's new so if you all have any ideas be sure to let me know! http://www.ozzieball.com This is sure looking like it's going to be a fun year!! It's my first real year back into baseball after a few years off. I am a Sox fan going back to 1977 and after a few years of not really following the team too closely they went and hired Ozzie to manage and I've been hooked ever since. Win or lose I knew Ozzie would bring fun baseball to the table and I'm sure not disappointed!! -Darren Welcome to Soxtalk!
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) Metal working was all the rage back in the Iron Age... It really became big in the bronze age.
  24. This is not good news at all. We are going to need his bat in the lineup.
  25. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) Now THAT is a quality outfit!!! AWESOME chain and pendant! Medalions were all the rage back then.
