QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Why would the Cubs want Politte? They have enough righties in their bullpen who have two pitches.....a 95 mph fastball and a slider. Have you checked Politte's stats lately?

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) I agree with the call but the ejection went a little too far an ump has to understand the situation a controverisal call was just made and player will be upset all the ump had to do was walk away give him a warning or something. I seen that in the AZ/LA game last night Troy Glaus Batting with bases loaded 2 outs took a very questionable called strike on a 3-2 pitch and he had words with the HP ump and flung his back to the on deck circle and the ump gave him a warning and walked away end of story this was a case of an ump going on a power trip and there was no excuse for it. Very very good point, as arguing a pitch call is considered grounds for automatic ejection. That shows one umpire has a clue, and the other has an ego problem.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) What for? Have you ever heard of a calls being reversed or games played over? The umps probably sit around and laugh at it. It's OK, we're coming home and gonna kick some Tiger ass. Actually, yes. The George Brett pine tar incident resulted in exactly that. The game was picked up from the point that call was made, and played to completion.

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) Carl Everett in LF can't be any worse than Dye in RF. Everett LF - Pods CF - Rowand RF Oh c'mon. Get real. Dye is a good defensive outfielder and Everett couldn't play good defense if his life depended on it. Dye botched a fly ball. So did that butcher in Minnesota named Torii Hunter. He sucks defensively ... at least based on your comment.

Rosie's dropped out of the limelight since she came out of the closet. She has to get her name back in the news. :sleep

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) Nah, I'm just going to discuss other mechanisms that underly this finding (that's the scientific way to say BS)... AS I said, you have a bright future. Have you ever considered going into politics?

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Always blame Wille.. everything is his fault. You are very consistant.

Yep. I'm on there too. I would guess it's because I'm listed in the white pages.

Not laughing off the issue. Just laughing at Canada. There's a big difference.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Oh I am sure we did... lots of b****ing pissing and whining I am sure... Now why would you jump to that conclusion?

QUOTE(AirScott @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) one more point: the fact is that even though the bullpen is shaky, Ozzie needs to be able to trust it. if the score is 7-3 going into the bottom of the 7th, and Buehrle starts showing signs of wear, go to Damaso, Vizcaino, or Hermanson. go to a fresh arm to finish the game, that's why the have the bullpen. plus, Buehrle isn't going to go 9 innings every time he starts. I'll agree with that. That decision to stick with Mark was Ozzie's contribution to last night's fiasco. After the lead off hit in the bottom of the 7th, I was saying "Get him out of there". I like what Ozzie's doing with this team, but I wanted him to pull Buehrle.

QUOTE(AirScott @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) I just want to say that game last night was 3 notches above excruciating. we did the same sort of thing vs. KC, but we somehow won that one. we will not beat good teams making 4 (3? was that a type-o in the box score?) errors and balking in the tying run. it also showed the flaws this team has: a shaky bullpen and little depth. True. But every team has flaws unless you have one of those magical seasons where everyone plays above their head.

QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) And realistic to the ways of our Government. Yep. The money grubbers missed it in 1929, but they'll get it now.

QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) implying that farenheit 9/11 is good ??? that's like saying bob and doug mackenzie were nobel laureates... Only in Canada.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) That error by Byrnes was alot different. That ball was a low, hard liner by Rowand (I believe). It was a tough play. Dye's error came on a routine fly ball. I'll agree with that. But honestly, if that was one of our outfielders, the board would have gone nuts on that as well. Nuke said he got a bad break. Isn't that the OF's fault? Wouldn't a good break have made that ball even more catchable?

QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Ugh, what is it about short right field where our fielders forget how to play? 2 yrs ago, it was Jimenez dropping an easy popup for a 3 run error. Yesterday, it was Dye dropping a fly for an error. Let's get the win today and get the hell out of that craphole. People are forgetting that Oakland's LF dropped a catchable flyball that allowed Rowand to score. As I've been saying .. this kind of s*** happens

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) If he posts 16 wins, he'll get Matt Clement money. And since Burhle, Garcia, and the two Cubans are locked up for next year, get ready for B-Mac. No he won't. He's not FA eligible.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) I bet you can do it without vowels. I can give you a linguistic explanation, but, I oh, screw it, I will give it to you. It's believed that in most languages (like English) consonents hold the power of identification. Although, this extends to, and is mostly valid with reading, it is related to spoken word recognition. Due to the highly variable nature of vowels (you can pronounce vowels with more variability in your speech production than consonents due to the voiced quality of vowels), some experimental psycholinguistics believe that vowels are not encoded in the mental lexicon. Thus, it spreads to the orthographic representations of words too. So, while vowels make pronunciation easy--they might not be what actually carry the meaning of the word. I don't necessarily believe all of that--but it is part of the basis of my master's proposal. So .. you're going to BS through your masters proposal. I see a bright future for you! LOL
