To begin, the Sox aren't going to continue with their lack of production with the bats. To me, that's a given. Secondly, if the Sox are walking and striking out hitters at a rate similar to others yet still winning then one of two things are happening ... they are playing better defensively than other teams, or our pitchers are coming though in the clutch. I think it's combination of both.

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) Boras = NEVER not after the B.Seay fiasco Add Jeff Weaver to that, if I remember correctly.

For out of town fans, it's really a b**** to get to games. Besides the cost of the tickets, you have to include travel expenses ... gas or airfare, hotels, etc. But still, to sit in Bumf***, Egypt and complain about lack of attendance is ridiculous.

The first Sox team to finish in first place in my memory ... the 1983 "Winning Ugly" White Sox.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Dispite what the records say, Oakland and Minnesota are the only "good" teams we have played. Seattle I could accept as good, but they were also missing their best hitter at the time, and we ducked their best pitchers. Detroit, Cleveland, and KC just flat out suck. You make a good point here, but then, I don't think Minnesota has been playing the cream of the crop either.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) Last night on baseball tonight, they did a 'best of April', not ONE mention of anything White Sox. No they didn't. But they did give props to the Rangers. I mean ..... WTF?!?!?!?

All the more reason that a uniform should be implemented. That would nip this little fiasco in the bud. Either that or "My penis loves your vagina" T-shirts are next.

QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) I'm still having a hard time figuring out how being a loudmouth equates to being aggressive. Think about the passiveness of Jerry Manuel. From that point, it's not much of a stretch.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Lucky for you.. As am I.

I don't want the Sox to draft a closer. Draft pitchers with heat and command, and take the one that doesn't have endurance and make him a closer.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) OKay with this ass-clown, here we go.. 1. We had Harry Carry.. WE had him in the good years, not the if you spell grace backwards it says ECARG..Hawk might not be the greatest, but its better than 95% of the other announcers out there. If you don't belive me, order the Direct TV baseball package and sit back and listen. 2. THe Cubs Fans are stupid, plain and simple.. What other team ticket scalps its fans to make money, and then doesn't put that money into their team.. The Cubs could have the same payroll as the Yankees, yet they don't need to their fans are to stupid not to support a losing cause. Case and Point this year Cubs payroll is about 10mil more than us, yet they sold out everygame have a huge TV deal and rip of their own fans...something doesn't add up 3. I read from someone else, How is it that the BlackHawks are not on that list, or what about the Expos/Nationals..They have had one sellout.. This list is a joke, using your "power" to show your biased opnion. I agree with you 100% on this post. And we both know that saying a lot!

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 07:35 AM) I'm not high, and I don't care about his bat. I think Perez is a major league glove, and I just saw the Crede-Widger-Harris combo. I would like never to see that again. For what it's worth, I suspect the Cubs wouldn't trade Perez for Cliff and Pablo. Then you'd be b****ing about him being an automatic out .. which he will be ... soon.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) In July Polanco won't be owed $4.6 million, it will be half of that. Keep that perspective in mind. That being said, I don't think the Sox make a move for someone like this unless Uribe is hurt badly. Not just 15 day DL hurt, but groin tear hurt. And that is not the case here. Yes, but the Sox won't shoot their financial wad on a bench player. I don't see Polanco coming to the Sox. I think they'll save their bullets for a better target.

1. Do you believe in miracles? YES! 2. The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! 3. I can't believe what I just saw! And my favorite: Alou into foul territory, reaches up and A FAN DEFLECTS THE BALL! (Actually, I don't know how the call went. But it's a good memory)

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) "Birds May Be Behind Exploding German Toads" http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...exploding_toads Crows are evil. I've felt crows were evil, since I first saw Hitchcock's "The Birds".

Just call this a hunch, but if the cyclical nature of these numbers had been reversed, I believe it would have been another point you would have brought into the discussion, showing that "human presence is responsible" for the decrease. The people that would have been pointing to those numbers as an indication that animal populations are not safe sure would want us to believe it.

This process has already started. Cub fans are pissed that Hendry didn't get a closer. They are very unhappy with the team. That lovable loser protection the franchise has enjoyed was deflected out of Moises Alou's mitt in the '03 NLCS.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) i wouldnt want anyone from the cubs maybe besides angel guzman, cant imagine who kenny is looking at Nendry called Kenny. I doubt he's looking at anybody.

Cleveland. The city of champions! In the NBA, they have the Cavs. Need I say more about that? Compare their history to the Bulls. No f***ing contest. NFL. The Browns, part 2. The victims of "The Drive". Never made the Super Bowl. STFU NHL .... Well, never mind. They don't even qualify. Sox vs. Tribe ... about the same. They made the series in '97 but lost. They lost in '54 and we lost in '59. Not much for either franchise to brag about.

I'm wondering what people's reactions would be if one of these games cost us a playoff series. Just a thought.
