  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) A week on the job and already it's "we"... :rolly I have to start strutting my stuff at some point.
  2. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 04:57 AM) I am willing to bet alot more pitchers take them than people think. Does not mean they have to turn out to look like freaks like sosa, bonds, giambi, etc. Basically all i was doing is throwing it out there a possibilty and it is a possibility without anything to base it on. It is just speculation on my part. I agree that there are propbably more players, pitchers and non-pitchers, using them than people think. I just don't think it's right to arbitrarily pin this accusation on a particular individual without something more substantial.
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 03:40 AM) You don't lose that many miles an hour out of the blue. I definitely think he is a candidate for taking them Maybe. But the dude never looked like he was on them. Loss of velocity can be attributed to messed up mechanics that he could never get right again, or a frayed rotator cuff or some other type of arm ailment. For the record though, I vehemently disagree with someone throwing around steroid allegations without anything to base it on. If there was "smoke" in his case, I'd be ok with talking about the possibility of "fire".

    Wow. Just wow.

    Or to spin it another way: Forty-seven of the fifty-two intelligence reports even failed to mention Al Qaeda in any way. Only two mentioned suicide operations and none of the fifty-two reports connected suicide operations to aviation. It just depends on what message you are trying to send. Of course, the NY Times is NOTORIOUSLY liberal.
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) No more steroids? Koch? ... I really doubt it.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Hell ya he is. Probably the most clutch kicker of all time. He'll probably be the second Kicker ever inducted into the pro football hall of fame. With the first being Jan Stenerud. Morton Anderson will get there before AV.
  7. They just need to throw this under the jail and forget about him.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) Percival was still hitting 95, 96, 97 in the game i watched in september. Did he lose velocity over the winter? Billy Koch disease.
  9. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) See, if it were up to me, I'd put Bruce Bowen in there ahead of Manu Ginobli. Just about any coach will tell you that he's second to Artest if we're talking about just straight up suffocating an opposing team's #1 perimiter scorer (more often than not the #1 scorer, period). Since when is defense important in the NBA All Star game?
  10. QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) No, and it's actually mentioned on the White Sox site today, but see the Jason Grilli thread also. Grilli gone, Campos not on the White Sox radar. With Grilli officially gone, Campos might be re-evaluated.
  11. With all the focus being on Palmeiro, IRod and JuanGone I wonder if Canseco has implicated any of his ex-teamates with the Sox. We may have to circle the wagons after this book comes out. Just saying.
  12. As far as power numbers go, I think we can figure a few more out of Crede and a somewhat significant increase from Everett.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Its in the mail I thought we decided to set the standard at 5000 posts before we issued the badges.
  14. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) i can live with .269, .337,.446, 10-15 hr's, 30-40 sb's, and gold glove caliber defense. oh, hes also a switch hitter. all i know is that i rather have him starting than Harris. I feel that Iguchi's power numbers will be better than most people anticipate, including the so called experts. His home park in Japan had the longest dimensions in the league and had tall fences to boot. At least, I've been led to believe this from Soxtalk threads. Taking that into account, and the Cell's tendancy to give up the long ball, I would guess about 20 HR from Iguchi, even with the usual power decline shown by other Japanese ballplayers.
  15. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) SOX 05 projection vs LH: http://baseball.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/batt...Type=2&type=reg .261A .326O .463S .789OPS -/+: -Lee 156AB .308A .385O .551S .937OPS +Pod 147AB .224A .294O .354S .648OPS 04 +Pod 148AB .270A .333O .426S .759OPS 03 : major decline -Maggs 59AB .339A .371O .542S .913OPS +Dye 161AB .280A .376O .491S .866OPS : decline -Olivo 40AB .450A .477O .925S 1.402OPS +AJP 97AB .227A .224O .320S .544OPS : major decline -Val 136AB .191A .262O .404S .666OPS +Ure 178AB .264A .302O .551S .853OPS : major upgrade -Harris 72AB .181A .224O .264S .488OPS +Iggy 116AB .284A .331O .422S .753OPS : major upgrade DH's Wildcards: Everett & Thomas Thomas 050AB .200 .420 .420 .840 04 Thomas 149AB .315 .446 .732 1.177 03 Everett 52AB .231 .293 .288 .582 04 Everett 64AB .266 .319 .406 .725 03 : major upgrade - We can expect our DH to do much better vs LH in 05. Overall: slight upgrade vs LH Again, why "just" use Olivo's and Ordonez' stats for this type of comparison. Both players were in the Sox lineup less than half of the season. Compare AJ to the combined stats of Olivo-Alomar-Burke-Davis. Compare Ordonez-Perez-Borchard to Dye. I believe you will find more than a "slight" upgrade.
  16. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) IMO Garland should be the #4 The fact is that he has the more consistant track record. Proven year after year he can be decent in a full year at the Cell. Contreas hasn't proven anything. IMO it doesn't matter where they start the season as long as they are in the rotation. I believe by year's end you will see Garland displace Contreras in the pecking order. Editted to add: Welcome back Heather. Good to see you.
  17. I was hoping we'd be able to retain Grilli. I liked his approach and attitude and I still believe we never saw a completely healthy version. This is a good move by the Tigers and it was the smart move for Jason Grilli.
  18. Methinks some people are being too picky.
  19. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) Not a true Illini fan Me? Hell no!
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) If he finishes the season as our #5, I will be surprised and believe it is far more likely we won the division and 1-4 had great seasons. My best guess now is he finished the season as our #3 or #4 with 16-17 wins against 10 loses. He's just now hitting his prime years. I have similar expectations.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) I found a hot chick, THEN got on Soxtalk And mreye, the admins get tail all of the time, and don't even think twice about it. Well ... at least your priorities are in order.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) Step one to finding a hotchick. GET OFF OF SOXTALK!!! :lol Like YOU of all people would know!!!!
