Hawk's biggest mistake was firing LaRussa. I don't know if you guys remember this or not, but the main marketing theme that year revolved around Hawk. When a team markets it's GM, you know it's going to be a long year.

Here's my take on this issue. No one will convince me otherwise, so don't even try. I fully believe that the Creator created as specified in the bible. I also believe that evolution is tool the Creator uses to allow life to adapt to it's surroundings and needs for survival. I also feel that the science community would, of course, disavow creationism as a viable alternative. Science is their "religion". So using that as reason to dismiss creationism, with me, is a ludicrous as my belief in God is to you.

It'll take more than either Garland or Contreras to get Vazquez. Probably another solid major leaguer.

I think AJ would be a good signing for the Sox. He's the type of hardnose player they need.

Everything you've said, in and of itself, is accurate. Yet it doesn't flow in a logical pattern. For example: Buerle's not an ace because he hasn't proved he can win big cames in Sept. The Sox should have used the money on El Duque to sign Clement. But, Clement failed in the stretch last year and El Duque has proven to be a big game pitcher. The type of pitcher that can get you " to the playoffs first". Unlike Clement, who failed misably in the clutch for the Cubs.

Yet, El Duque has shown the ability to perform well in big games.

This response is too appropriate to pass up. Very interesting, but stupid!

Best bullpen. Best rotation. Whatever. The Sox potentially have a very solid pitching staff from top to bottom. That's more than we've been able to say about thye Sox for quite some time. I'm very happy with our pitching staff as it looks going in. Things never work out over the course of a season as they look on paper. I'm willing to go into the season with what we've got, pitching wise, and take our chances.
