  1. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) i agree, but if we get iguchi, will we have enough money for pierz? thats all i care about, i bet cora would cost less, but sounds like iguchi has more talent. and if we get pierz what happens to davis and burke im guessing burke is sent to the minors? I don't think Cora offers anything that we can't get from Willie Harris. Other than having an adequate replacement in case of injury, Cora doesn't add anything to the team. Iguchi would add OBP and speed at the top of the order in tandem with Podsednik.
  2. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) yeah sorry my stomach was thinking not my brain! They do have great steaks though.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) What cheap middle reliever did he turn into a successful closer? Keith Foulke
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) You guys are welcome to eat with us. I'll call Houlihan's and see what their reservation criteria is and then we can go from there. The only request I have.. if you commit to it, be there. I'm not going to be happy if I make a reservation for people and they not show up.... Heaven help you guys if you piss Steff off!
  5. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) In today's Tribune and Sun-Times the Sox ran ads for the Guillen and Minoso ticket plans. The Minoso 9 game plan ad has a picture of Shingo, and the text is Game 1: You show up to see him toss up his elusive Frisbee pitch. Game 3: You show up to see him strikeout the cleanup hitter on a 58 mph "fastball". Game 7: You show up to see him post his 30th save. Game 9: You show up in his jersey. The Guillen 13 game plan add has a picture of four guys tailgating in the parking lot, and the text is: Game 1-4: You'll talk about the game. Game 5-8: You'll talk about the game and beer. Game 8-12: You'll talk about the game, beer and women. Game 13: You'll talk about the game, beer and women who talk about the game and beer. That Guillen plan ad sounds like it's pitched to casual Wrigley-types to me. No. The add specifically states they'll talk about the game. In fact, it's mentioned first in all four sentences. That's the difference between Sox and Cub fans.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) You missed the "don't want to leave the hotel" part... I'm not going to attend SoxFest, but perhaps if some of the >21 crowd would show up at the
  7. Oops ... quoted the wrong post.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Ah didn't believe in no dinosours 'til I looked in the mirror one day. Yes, we took a risk. But, with the report in Sept of KW and OG talking to Lee and telling him what he needed to work on, and the after trade bad press on Carlos, I believe there was more to Carlos Lee than met the eye of the average fan and that what we didn't know was a negative. When KW and OG talked to Lee, they might not have liked his attitude or responses to what they had to say. The main advantage the Twins have held over the Sox is their cohesiveness. Carlos may have been more of a problem than he was an asset. I know this speculation on my part, but I don't think I'm just blowing smoke here. I believe there's something to this.
  9. Per Rotoworld, Green is Arizona bound:
  10. I said early in the free agent period that Leiber was the bast value pitcher on the market, but El Duque may turn out to be even more so. Can't fault KW for that signing at all.

    lineup...

Mr. Zero, is that Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull in your avitar?
  12. Vazquez wants the NL because he's spent a year going against those 1-9 solid lineups in the AL. Very few easy outs.
  13. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 03:28 AM) maybe he was on the opposing team for that game Yep. And if I remember correctly, the Tigers won that game something like 16-0
  14. Oh man! The old "I thought my wife was a monkey ploy." Why didn't I think of that one?

    Relief Aid

QUOTE (NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) <!--QuoteBegin-YASNY+Dec 29, 2004 -> 12:27 PM--> QUOTE (YASNY @ Dec 29, 2004 -> 12:27 PM) <!--QuoteEBegin--> I didn't say bush did the "f***ing" in Asia. He failed to seize an opportunity to change the world's view of the USA. He's showed his tendency to be a world leader when it goes against the wishes of the free world. Yet, when he has a chance to step up and be a world leader in a time of disaster and human suffering, well.... Let's go mountain biking! What would you have him do YAS? Would it satisfy you if he went to Sri Lanka or Indonesia and pick through some rubble with the survivors? This is really petty and carping criticism of the President if I ever heard it. What's more substantive? A press conference or the C130's that were landing with relief supplies hours after the disaster occured? All that he had to do was step up to the mike, express his condolences and the US's intention of offering a substantial amount of aid. And to do so in a timely manner. It's not too difficult.
  16. I honestly think that Harris will be more aggresive on the basepaths this year, if he can get on base enough.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 1, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) Thanks for the welcomes but i got those in August . I'm more of a lurker since i read this thing religiously. But once in a while i have the urge to post a smartass comment. I like it here in the Peanut Gallery. Smartass remarks are the life's blood of Soxtalk.
  18. If Podsednik's 2005 equals an average of 2004 and 2003, I'll be more than happy with the guy.
  19. Management is covering their asses with spin? I see it like this. They are identifying what went wrong last year and trying to go out and change some of the things that faltered.

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) 1. I hope he signs with the Cubs. 2. Then, his knee condition limits his play and he is on and off the DL for the length of the contract, what does he care? He got his money. I will boo him harder than Sosa in the crosstown showdown. He's totally not the person that I thought he was when he became a favorite of mine in the past 5-6 years. Oh well...Good riddance. :headshake
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 1, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) That reminds me, I heard somewhere that Kreutz definitely did not deserve to go to the Pro Bowl this year, supposedly being a weak link of our offensive line this year. Kruetz felt like he didn't deserve a Pro Bowl nod. But the weak link? I don't think so.
  22. Happy New Year all!

  24. Well, I've never understood that Bonilla for DeLeon trade.
