  1. I can see the Brewers taking that deal. Detroit would get a speedy CF to cover the acreage in Comerica, but can they afford to deal the pitching?
  2. First off, Beane has stated that he will not give a "window of opportunity" to a team in order to try and extend Hudson's contract, so that is out. KW would just have to gamble after feeling out JR about it. Also, including BMac is OK with me, but as stated earlier, then we have to hang on to Garland.
  3. That remains to be seen. I just don't like the thought of giving up Garland & Konerko for a pitcher who may or may not be as effective as his past history. His rumored loss of velocity scares me, ala Billy Koch.
  4. You are forgetting one very important element, especially when it comes to the White Sox ... Payroll $$$$$
  5. Oh hell ... you don't believe that do you? Everyone knows KW is a world class liar. ........... or, he's just flying under the radar.
  6. I saw Lee's performance like this .... When Magglio and Frank were healthy, he was trying to use all fields and get on base as often as possible. Hense, the 28 game hitting streak, with only 5 HR thru the first couple of months. After they went down, he started cranking it up because he thought the team needed him to supply more power. No, I don't think Carlos was only concerned with his self interests. I think he was trying to be whatever the team depending on the circumstances.
  7. Giles is arbitration eligble and speculated to make $2 million in 05. I just read this somewhere this morning while reading about a possible A's/Braves trade involving Hudson. Don't ask me for the link, as I read a lot of articles. LOL
  8. So, basically, this is not a rumor in the sense of the word called the definition .... just a speculative possibility.
  9. Is this an actual rumor, or just an idea you had?
  10. What? She was saying that the payroll from was raised by $12 million dollars from the '03 season to the '04 season which was a direct response to this:

    Honestly

That was my whole point of raising the question ... the unintended consequences.
  12. I went back and reread the article ... in all fairness I have to post the paragraph immediately prior to the segment I posted above......... "They know everything went perfectly. They got all the medical reports. They said they never had them? That's [nonsense]. I was one of their employees then. They knew everything that was going on." EDIT: I have to question ... how did "they know everything" if he followed Magglio's instructions not to inform the Sox what was happening. This seems to be a contradiction. Partly truth and partly fiction.
  13. Here's the appropriate text from the Rag ... I mean Trib.
  14. I have to admit ... I never gave a thought to the doctor/patient confidentiality issue. It never entered my mind. So ... why would Magglio ask the doctor not to update the Sox on his condition?
  15. I agree. This seems to be a lose/lose situation for all parties, as a direct result of timing of that injury.
  16. They had, at the very least, potential darft picks at stake. Of course, if they did what you suggest, then we'd be hearing that Sox abandoned Maggs when his career was at stake and wouldn't even take an interest in his health while still under contract to them.
  17. Hell, I can bunt and know how to run. The fact I'm 47 years old and never could hit a curve shouldn't matter though.
  18. If he was "representing the team" when he referred the other doctor, then he should have reported the results of his consultation to the team. If he was acting as an independant consultant, then that wouldn't be necessary. IMO
  19. I think it has more to do with how they say it, as to what they are saying. For example, when someone who has no professional baseball experience whatsoever, to say nothing of budgets and running a business, thinks they have all the answers and think they'd be a great GM, then the fact that anyone that has a differing opinion is talked down to like a piece of s***, then yes, they'll get thrashed.
  20. Read the thread. To be honest, I don't know where the quote originally came from. Anyone?
  21. Because it pisses you off?
  22. Now I know why Phillies fans threw batteries at you when you went by the name Richie.
  23. What part of "Weil says he wasn't working as a White Sox doctor when he giving Magglio the information did you not comprehend?
