Calling the police as soon as the store turned down the exchange would have been the thing to do. Would you call the cops if you were trying to perpetrate a fraud? Then, follow up a call to the CC compnay, a lawyer and a spoken threat to store management of media notification and numerous internet postings.
I think Magglio got his wittle feewings hurt after the attempted trade and basically cut off any opportunity for the Sox to resign him at that point. And we all know Nomar reacted the same way. Let the Cubs have both of those crybabies to go along with a pouting and angry Sosa next year. Wrigley field should be such an enjoyable atmosphere.
You have to admit, though, that this past season has made the GB/FB ratio much more important in you eyes. The Cell wasn't that bad before the upper deck restructuring done last winter.
All thru the offseason and up to the '03 trade deadline, we were all trying to figure out a way to get Vazquez from the Expos. Now that he's with Yankees, he is a question mark in many peoples minds. It's strange how perceptions can change after 1 season.
There has to be more going on here than the Sox just getting Vazquez for PK/JG ... then the Yanks getting RJ for the same players. Flash coming to Sox doesn't make sense with Hermanson's signing.
If we were going to get Gordon from the Yankees, why sign Hermanson? Does not compute. Also, Garland is as likely to have a better year in 2005 than Javy Vazquez, as Vazquez is over Garland. This trade does not make sense to me. If Garland is included, I don't like it. It's that simple.
Carlos was originally a 3B, so he's comfortable taking ground balls. Also, he has been taking IF practice a 1B for quite a while now. I guess he figures he'll end up over there eventually and it will extend his career. Which is actually good thinking on his part. So, yes, I think Lee at 1B is very doable.
If Kenny Williams trades Konerko, Garland and Anderson or Sweeney for Javier Vazquez, I'll disown him. I've stuck by him thru a lot, but that is f***ing ludicrous.
