I don't get it, I was listening to Mike and the Maddog this afternoon and they had Peter Gammons on, he was talking about the 3 way trade with RJ and how we would get Vasquez. Now I like Javy and think he would be a good picher for us, but then what.

 

Gammons said we would send Konerko and Garland to Arizona. If we get Vasquez, then it seems hard to believe that KW would get another starter in the FA market. Then we would still have an empty spot at the 5th starter position. For some reason that idiot KW seems to love Jason Grilli, I think everyone will agree that he totally sucks, so won't we still have a problem.

a Konerko deal wouldn't make sense anyway now that the diamondbacks have Glaus. Tracy would be the third or first baseman and Glaus would play the other position IMO. Konerko wouldn't make sense...

It would be White Sox sending Konerko and Garland to the Yanks for Vazquez, Gordon, Crosby (Bubba) and cash (to cover Vazquez) and then the Yanks trading Garland and Konerko to Arizona for Johnson. It's one of those rumors floating around right now and the GM's are still talking about this trade now.

Other messege boards so don't take this for any credablity. Heard it from ESPN, CBS message boards mostly. Just a rumor floating around now, but I don't think it's all bogus.

Butter, I think you misheard. EVERYTHING I have read says Konerko OR Garland, not both. And I would really, really have to hope that KW would do everything in his power to make them take Konerko over Garland. I do agree with your statement about just going back to have 4 starters, becasue that just wont work another year. Garland needs to be our #5 next season, OR Kenny needs to go out sign a Clement/Odalis Perez/Pavano, then trade Garland for Javy,

This makes more sense, but BOTH is way to much. I still hope we keep Konerko and Garland. Gammons hasn't been right about any move that I know of. KW has said that we will use Uribe at SS and Willie at 2B. He has also talked up Konerko and what he brings to the team. They sign Garland to a new contract. Trading them isn't what I see happening.

This Vasquez thing is too well known to be a KW move...

Only way I think it could involve both is KW getting Hillebrand or another bat back because then you would lose Maggs and PK from the lineup replacing it with Dye and Gload... Vazquez doesn't make that big of a difference in the rotation to justify that

We wouldn't be better.........we'd be worse........UNLESS another starter was signed. Barring that this deal stinks even worse than the original RJ deal.

Jesus...add Gordon and Vazquez for those two and I'd do it in a heartbeat. Crosby is a solid backup outfielder too, imo.

For the money differential, tracy in a heart beat.

If we were going to get Gordon from the Yankees, why sign Hermanson? Does not compute. Also, Garland is as likely to have a better year in 2005 than Javy Vazquez, as Vazquez is over Garland. This trade does not make sense to me. If Garland is included, I don't like it. It's that simple.

I'd say Vazquez is MORE likely to have the better year because he has more sucess, and has better stuff.
