You have to really like our outfield defense, now. Carlos wasn't bad and neither was Maggs. But these guys should be able to cover some ground, with Rowand shaded slightly toward RF.
Which is why they needed to retool this team. I don't know if Scotty Pod will get on base any more often, but he will get in scoring position when he does.
If you anyone that hasn't really been talked about grab that fifth spot, it will be BMac ... Or AMac ... or DMac? .... Hell, let's just use the vairable "X" until this is decided. XMac it is!
I think this "spin" by KW in case something doesn't work out. I fully expect there to be more moves made this off season.
Also, I don't expect the PTBN from the Brewers will be anyone that will knock your Sox off, so to speak. Just a warm body.
I know this much. The Murderers Row of Frank, Maggs, Carlos, and Paulie has won zero division crowns from 2001 through the present. Going into 2005 with the same of team makes no sense whatsoever. It was time to try a different approach. I believe this team still will do some retooling and the Sox that take the field in April is not the one we see on paper right now.
A couple of weeks ago, Reinsdorf said the Sox do not see Gload as an everyday player. So, that tells you their thinking on Ross. Regarding, Delgado, I think I recall him saying that he wasn't a fan of the Cell, back in July.
I agree. I look for Twins to get a couple of good arms from the Cubs for him. The Cubs match up really well here as they need someone to replace Alou. It's also about whether or not the Cubs are stuck with Sosa.
If that one year of Hudson ends with a silver and black pile of celebrating ballplayers at US Cellular Field, then it's worth it. Lovely thought ain't it?
