  1. Just guessing here ..... Since Boston did loose him as a free agent, a comp pick between the 1st and 2nd rounds is probably what they'll get.
  2. I like Kenny's approach right now. Magglio was very good player for the White Sox and we wish him well .... end of story. No more arguing about who said what and when. Time for the SOX to just STFU and move on ..... And no, Dick Allen, if the don't refute Boras's statement it does not mean they were lying. It means they're done with the whole mess. And rightfully so.

    JD Drew

As much as I like Drew, before I gave a 5 year contract I'd investigate the cheaper short term option of ........ (drumroll please) ....... Steve Finley !!!! LOL. I know you are all shocked. But it makes a lot more sense. Two years of Finley at even $9 million per vs 5 years of Drew at the same money per. Then you've got Sweeney and Anderson ready to step into the line up. To me, acquiring Finley is a no brainer, even if you have to overpay him.
  4. Based on the Sox history of putting profits back into payroll the next season, yes I do think so.
  5. You nailed it. It's the perception of the Sox as an organization and the way they have usually bad mouthed players that were headed out of town. And that goes back a good solid decade. Fisk, Onedog, BlackJack, Robin, Ray Ray, etc. I have noticed recently that KW seems to be trying to buck that trend. He's been trying to just let Magglio's performance in a Sox uniform speak for itself and not get into a war of words with Bore-Ass. Even with Koch, he had nothing but positives to say about the guy other than something along the lines of "it just didn't work out for him here."
  6. Good point. That combo also gives you some solid bench depth too. Cairo at 2B, SS and 3B. Wille at 2B and CF.
  7. If the Sox decide to non-tender Scott, they should offer him to Baltimore for Gibbons before the non-tender deadline. C'mon Kenny, think man. Think!
  8. There's the guy that should be our bench coach.
  9. A couple of more: Colon deal. B Colon was the horse we expected down the stretch, too little too late though. Clayton deal. F ... That was subtraction by addition. I was never so glad to see anyone leave town, excepting Navarro of course. Contreras deal. C .... on paper, it looks OK unttl you consider salary. Actaully still needs to be determined how this one works out.
  10. I'll agree with that. The rumors flew for a while, then died down. It turned out that Kenny was calling Minaya(sp?) 3 or 4 times a day for weeks trying to work this deal.
  11. I just wonder how much Renteria's agent payed Rogers to write that column.
  12. There was a LOT of talk about the posiibility of acquiring Colon before that deal was made. No one thought KW could pull it off, then they credited Cashman for it when he did.
  13. Morris for that money would have been a great deal. Millwood would be ok as well, but the Cards made a good move resigning Morris.
  14. I really like this move. I seem to recall Jason targeting DH several weeks ago, but I could be wrong. This a very solid veteran versatile pitcher. As of this moment, the bullpen is basically set and looks to be decent overall. Of course, things could change due to a trade somewhere along the line.
  15. When Hidalgo is healthy, he can hit.
  16. Why do we want another big slow RH power hitter? EDIT: The more I think about this trade, the less I like it. Perez is very impressive, but I think the price is too high. 2nd EDIT: This is from Perez' ESPN scouting report.
  17. The difference between Finley and Dye is well worth the money, imho.
  18. LOL. That post puts things in the proper perspective.
  19. Thank you. Have you read the thread about Jaret Wright signing? Total b****fest. Yet, have the people b****ing about KW not signing him, would be b****ing about overpaying if he had signed Wright. Which is exactly what I pointed out in Flash's post about Dye.
  20. Exactly qwerty! Leiber has more of a history of being a quality pitcher, consistently, than Wright. You also can forget about the Mazzone factor with Leiber. Wright just might turn into the Jaret Wright we remember prior to Mazzone's impact on him.
  21. You did, however, criticize both out possible comes. And with the lynch KW mentality going after he wisely decided against overpaying Jaret Wright, I don't see anything unwarrented other than the accusation of a "personal attack". I mean if STFU gets under your skin, I suggest you get a thicker skin.
