  1. The Sox aren't done. I don't think Kenny Williams is done either. KW's not the type to throw in the towel. If he can swing a trade, he will. And contrary to some opinions expressed in this thread, I hope he does.
  2. If he got a pitch to hit, which he apparently did, what's the problem?
  3. Loiaza won't get $8Mill per year.
  4. Random thoughts based on what I read here. Everett was not the reason this team failed last year. If anything, he tried to teach them how to win, but it just didn't take. From what I read, Borchard hit the ball on the screws in the 9th but it was right at the 3B. How is that his "fault". Valentin has struggeled lately and really screwed up today, but to let him go is insane. BTW, Jose got picked off due to an attempted sacrifice. The pitch was high and tight and unbuntable. Jose hung himself out to dry, but that is not uncommon for a runner at 2nd under those circumstances.
  5. The Sox have some adjustments to make. They have somewhat gotten used to playing without Frank OR Maggs in the lineup, but now they need to learn how to win with Frank AND Maggs out. Different players have to assume new roles and step up to pick up some slack. I think Lee, Konerko and Rowand have done a good job of that. Valentin, Uribe and Harris have not maintained their earlier level of play, and that is what's really hurting this team right now. Crede will be fine even with a gradual improvement. Timo Perez needs to learn the meaning of the word "hustle" or I'd bench his ass. Everett will produce, he's a known quantity so that's all good. I think our middle infielders will determine the level of success the team has. If they don't get it going, we're sunk. If they can we'll win the division.
  6. 18 bb in 416 ab doesn't look too great, but the rest look pretty good. I hope he can develope some patience at the plate.
  7. Welcome to Soxtalk. If you like whine with your rumors, this is the place to be.
  8. He's certainly too young and too talented to give up on. I think he'll get a chance to crack the rotation in spring training next year.
  9. Starting SS for 2000 division champs
  10. Shingo choked! Send him back to Japan. I can't believe some of the crap I read in here at times.
  11. No problem. I'm sure I could find it if I was interested enough to search for it.
  12. It's cool to see some of the names in the box scores. I realize how many I had forgotten about. Neil Allen. Wayne Tolleson. Deron Johnson. Mike Proly. etc
  13. Borchard. Always felt that way. I'm glad KW insisted they take Reed instead of Borchard.
  14. The first boxscore of my life would have been opening day, 1958. Of course, by the time 1958 spring training was over, I was a die hard Sox fan. rolleyeyes.gif
  15. Mario sent me an email telling me about Soxnet. I checked it out in it's infancy and occasionally came back and just browsed. I eventually signed up and started posting. How Mario got my email address I still don't know. I was, at one point, a poster at WSI. I didn't hang there too long though. There was a certain amount of arrogance that I didn't find too appealing. I suspect, though, that Mario found me over there somehow.
  16. I had the wrong Rupe because the Tribune did.
  17. .... for this line in today's column. It actually shows some signs of a functioning brain and a hint of wit.
  18. Based on some previous posts on this thread, this was a crappy trade for the RedSox. Pavano and Armas still have potential to become very good pitchers and even with Pedro, the Red Sox haven't won a World Series. Just a little perspective added here. One final note on the Everett (part 1) trade. Rupe is now pitching in Japan.
  19. Damn. I hate it when I have brain cramps like that. Thanks for not ruthlessly bashing me on that one, though it was undoubtedly deserved. :banghead
