  1. Anybody of one particular race that looks down or discriminates against anybody of a different race is a racist. So, yes, racsim goes both ways.
  2. There are no Soxtalk posters from Wisconsin?
  3. As far as the Supreme Court goes, I'd much rather the Republican Party choose who gets on the bench. But that's just my opinion, and I respect those that believe differently. However, I do not trust GWB with my constitution. That's right, I claim the US Constitution as mine, since I am a US citizen. They (BOTH parties) need to keep their grubby hands off of it. There is no need for an amendment defining marriage. Let the states handle that one. Once, they open a constitutional convention, ANYTHING can be amended to it. It does not have to be the issue that 2/3 of the states ratified to call the convention. That is what scares me about any proposed amendment to the constitution. As for Kerry, I just think he's a moron. He's as much of a two faced hypocrit as any of them in DC. I am so disgusted by the choices in this upcoming election that it thoroughly sickens me.
  4. LLWS is in Williamsport PA Omaha NE is the home of the College World Series.
  5. I really hope you are right. But I don't think so.
  6. Wasn't '67 the year of the 4 way race, and in '68 we totally sucked?
  7. I can't see the Rangers making that deal. They have a good young nucleus there and they now have the payroll flexibility to add missing pieces, like Benson, in the off season. They are ahead of schedule with their rebuilding and should not disrupt that plan now.
  8. No thanks to both Simon and Olerud.
  9. The only lead off hitter that I know is available happens to be Kenny Lofton.
  10. I'm sure Kenny Williams is thoroughly intimidated right about now.
  11. I'll add this thought, though. Torii Hunter should have been rubbing his ribs on his way to first base in his next at bat. That also is hardnosed baseball.
  12. Regarding whether or not it was a cheap hit by Hunter, I think David Justice expressed a viewpoint that has not been mentioned here. He refered to a play where Joe Girardi suckered him by making him think the plate was open, then slid his leg in at the last second to block it. Burke was standing in front of the plate receiving the ball, Hunter saw this and reacted, and did so in a split second. Burke could have tried to pull the same thing on Hunter that Girardi did on Justice. Hunter eliminated that possibility. I do not think it was a cheap shot in any way, shape or form. It was hardnosed, do whatever it takes, baseball. The type of baseball the White Sox better start playing if they want to beat these SOB's.
  13. Where losing Maggs and Thomas hurts is not the loss of power, but the loss of 2 high OBP guys. It was Maggs and Frank that would be on base for Konerko in the past. Our table setters have got to get it going again.
  14. I love the enthusiasm. We could use more of that around here.
  15. Since you were referring to yourself here, this is the only sensible thing you said in your entire rant.
  16. That's not quite fair as JR was going to extend payroll to sign Colon. Since Colon didn't re-up with us, he went back to his original payroll budget.
  17. My perception also is that Loaiza and Garland have a knack for doing this. They seem to "relax" a bit instead instead having the killer instinct and shutting the other team down. But like cwsox, I think it would be interesting to see stats and not just rely on perception.
  18. In the same post you complained the Ozzie left Borchard in the game, and that Ozzie didn't start Borchard. No wonder Ozzie keeps making mistakes.
  19. To say the Sox "cannot win" is Bulls***. They didn't win in this series. They'll get them the next time. The Twins were reeling the last time we left Minnesota and we are reeling now. It happens. I'm not a guy that views the world through silver and black glasses. I've seen my share of heartbreaks and disappointments over my 40+ years of being a Sox fan. But one thing I never do is give up hope. When we are 5 back with 5 to play, we still have a chance of winning. Stranger things have happened in baseball. Ask the '64 Phillies, '69 Cubs and '78 Red Sox. But to come in here, saying we are dead and have no chance .... 3.5 games back .... in f***ing July .... does not constitute being a fan in my opinion.
  20. Joe Crede has not lived up to expectations. But I still think he will.
  21. Yesterday he was. Today, he sucks!
  22. It's fairly common that when you give a team more than 3 outs in an inning, you give up runs. It's not just Sox pitchers.
  23. The market has changed since those contracts were given. Plus, those contracts are perfect examples of why Loiaza won't get that much.
