  1. I agree. There is a completely different equation when considering how much a pitcher should pitch. You develope or trade fora good pitcher, sign him to keep him, then you don't want to blow his arm out in two years and pay for 4 more. Dusty Baker, please note above.
  2. Cameron would be a good addition. No doubt. I just think Drew would gives us some sorely needed LH pop.
  3. I say that's about a year to long and a million a year too high. Go ahead Twins, sign him for that.
  4. I wouldn't consider the spike in his offense as "expected". A gradual increase in offensive productivity, yes. A spike to a .300 hitter, no.
  5. If JD could put together a healthy season, he would begin to get there. The guy has some talent, but every time he gets rolling, he gets hurt. Some times a guy is fragile and other times a guy is just unlucky. I don't know where Drew fits in that area, but he's a good solid LH hitter that has the potential to be a huge difference maker right now.
  6. If Piazza is catching, Clemens will be able to rare back and throw as hard as he can at Piazza all he wants to. The guy will be totally unhittable.
  7. I'd love to put a player like J. D. Drew in the middle of our line up. If he can stay healthy, that is.
  8. As I read some of these proposed trades, I can't help but think that I'm very thankful KW is the GM.
  9. Gammons did not really have a choice other than to call the Sox one of the better AL teams. The record speaks for itself.
  10. I agree with those of you that said Olivo should be graded higher. He has certainly exceeded my expectations. I thought Cotts and Adkins were rated too high, since they are both basically long-middle relief mop up guys and have faltered at times. Olivo B. Cotts and Adkins C.
  11. You've got to be with that roadtrip. I know if someone told me we'd take both series before the trip, I would have been very happy knowing that.
  12. Loiaza may not be around in 2005. That is something else KW has to take into consideration when making a deal. If we get a FA eligible guy our rotation could be Buehrle, Garland, Schoenewies, Rauch, Cotts next year. With Diaz, Munoz or Adkins as possibilities.
  13. You've made your point. I was just referring to the fact that happen to be in first place at the moment.
  14. I was referring to this. However, I do agree with your most recent post.
  15. Check the current NL East standings.
  16. I saw Garcia pitch in Texas. He was lights out for 7 innings, but unfortunately for him, he pitched into the 8th. As far as Garcia putting butts in the seats, ummmm ... we ain't talking Koufax here.
  17. I'm interested in hearing from you guys on what is and what isn't acceptable behavior at the ballpark. The recent couple of articles in the Tribune about fans with cellphones made me start thinking about this. Your thoughts on the wave, cellphones, camera hamming, drunks, etc would be most welcome. Anything from tailgate parties to leaving the stadium would be welcome. If you have a pet peeve let me hear it.
  18. The one thing that you aren't taking into nconsideration is that today pitchers are paid millions of dollars. Their arms are investments and have to be treated as such.
  19. Personally, I only concern myself with actual posts. Lurkers and anomynous viewers don't even exist until they post on the board. I don't think about it nor do I worry about it. It has no effect on my enjoyment of Soxtalk.

  21. I've heard since the event that we had attacked a wedding party. And I've heard it on numerous occasions. I wonder how much air play the truth will get.
  22. I agree that there are no easy answers. But there is a ceratin type of people, and I'm not refering to any specific race, that teach their kids how to buck the system or how to make money without actually working. They teach their kids that they are owed something and they shouldn't have to be productive members of society.
  23. I enjoy watching the WS of Poker.
  24. Carlos Lee was our best player last year. He's gotton off to slow start this year, but he hasn't lost his talent. Joe Borchard still might "get it". Maybe. There is no way in hell I'd make that deal.
  25. Lee and Borchard for Garcia? Ummm .... NO! You can't let desperation force you to overpay. And that is major overpayment. I'd go with Borchard in left if Carlos was traded. At least, he'd get the first shot at it.
