Baseball needs more 8 year kids that care enough about the game to vote 25 times. Yet, I see in this thread where someone is saying we should all vote 25 times.

This is fun. Reading about the pros and cons of a trade that didn't happen six months ago.

You can't learn to be a major league pitcher in the minors. It's a whole different ballgame in the show and there will be a learning curve for damn near everyone.

Actually, Trachsel has proven that he can be effective in NY, so he can handle "the spotlight". He may be someone that we can pick up reasonably cheap if we don't want to pay the price for a #1 or #2.

Damn. Until I saw that post reminding us of Glavine's standing in the MLBPA, I was thinking maybe we could trade Maggs for Glavine and a prospect. I think Borchard could fill in well enough to justify losing Maggs and gaining Glavine. But with his MLBPA standings, that AIN'T gonna happen. BTW, Glavine would be a number #1... Not a number 3. If we were starting a playoff series, you'd almost have to start off with Glavine considering his post season experience. That is what defines a number 1 pitcher.

Diaz should get another shot. Set him up in Charlotte to get his turn in the rotation to coinincide with when he is needed here. Limit him to 85 pitches in his last start before call up so he'll he be fresh and strong when he gets here. Give him the best chance to win that the organizationcan give him.

You have explained yourself point by point, true. However those points are based on opinion and selective stats. I'm not trying to start an arguement here. I'm just saying that you usually are more apt to look at the big picture, such as 3 years worth of stats, than stats put out there over a few particularly productive weeks. In other words, this obsession (for lack of a better word) with Simon is so unlike you. I've seen you berate other posters for taking "over the short haul" stats vs. "over the long haul" stats to prove their point.

If all your seeing on boards like this is that he is overated, then stay off of Cub boards.

I wish Miles all the luck in the world, but I'm more than happy with that trade. I don't see any reason to bash Miles.
