Reagan 1911-2004: nonpartisan thread
Jimmy Carter is a very decent and honorable man and deserves all the respect this nation can muster for him. Ronald Reagan was a good man and great president and will be honored as such. Bill Clinton should not be honored any more than say, Richard Nixon. There legacies are comparable. Clinton was a sitting president and lied under oath. I always questioned his sincerely about the oath of office from that point on.

Reagan the new face of the $10 bill?
I know it's a matter of opinion and I'm not going to disrespect yours. However, I feel Reagan was a far greater president than Kennedy. And I do think JFK was one of the best.

Clinton's an idiot on this one
Conversely, we can always talk about the class showed as the Clinton's left the White House. Somebody should have gone to jail over that.

Bill Parcells "racist" comments...
Considering Parcell's age, he grew up in an era that "Jap" was commonly used. I agree, this is overhill on the media's part.

Why not Marte?
It's my lot in life, I suppose.

Gammons Update
I think Gammons is speaking rhetorically, because I've heard him say that on more than one occasion. Regardless though, it's inaccurate and should not be reported as fact.

Koch is relieved of the Closer duty!
I wonder if we can possibly dump him on the Mets. I know Wilpon shot down a deal in the offseason, but Howe and Peterson may feel they can salvage Koch off the scrap heap.

Josh Fields
LOL ... That's a cool name for a town. But, I offer this one up: Possum Trot, Kentucky

Blurb about Mag's Contract
The bottom line is that no one really knows whats happening with these negotiations. It's all rumor and innuendo. I love a good trade rumor, but I can't stand these kind of baseball rumors.

The Official Billy Botch Page
I hadn't seen that quote before. Since it's a tongue-in-cheek type of page, I'm going to ask. Is the quote legitimate?

update on trades
If the ChiSox and BoSox sents scouts to Anahiem to see Sheets' start, they got a real eyeful tonight. 6.2 perfect and a 1 hitter through 9. Wow. And that's against a team that can rake.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Billy Koch
This idea may have worked for Buehrle, but I think Koch is hopeless.

Twins-Mets update
The Mets handed them that game. Another reason to hate New York.

When is the last time you've seen a game

Ordonez feeling good after surgery
I'm unable to follow your reasoning here. Care to elaborate, please?

hypothetical
By the end of the season, Garland may very well establish himself as our ace. It's certainly not beyond the realm of possibility.

Calling Out Ozzie
Chill out, man. I'm not trying to prove anything. We disagree. Let it go. No hard feelings. Cool?
-
Calling Out Ozzie
I guess we'll just have to disagree on this one. I try to look at the big picture. How things have to play out over the course of a season, not just today's game. I have witnessed a baseball season or two in my time.

Calling Out Ozzie
Politte got the job done. Shingo and Marte were available. What's the problem?

Mucho gracias.

Saturday Starter
A guy has a bad game and is forever banished to the minors? Wow. I'm glad I don't have to perform my job under that kind of pressure.

Calling Out Ozzie
Ozzie can't use Shingo and Damaso every game. If he does, these guys will be toast by Sept 1, when we really need them for the stretch run. I have no problem with him letting Jackson take some knocks for the team with a big lead. If Politte would have gotten into trouble with the 3 run lead, shingo and Damaso were still both available. cwsox, I was glad to read you are pleased with Ozzie so far. I have wondered what your thinking was on him now that you've seen him in action.

An Overview of the First Day
This guy sounds like he would have been a perfect draft and follow type candidate. So he goes back to school and you sign him before next years draft.

Possibly Good News
Shingo knows how to close games already. He knows the mind set you have to have to be a successful closer. Sure, it was in Japan. But it was still closing games. Marte has a better chance of failing as a closer because he hasn't been an established closer. In fact, last year, Tom Gordon kind of just took the closer spot after Koch lost it. Both Marte and Gordon had the opportunity to step up and grab the spot. Gordon did.
