  1. There's one in every crowd. At least one. :headshake
  2. I have to go with Frank, but Aparicio, Appling and Walsh have to get honorable mentions.
  3. I'm in total agreement.
  4. I agree that Cotts was kind of thrown to the wolves. He hadn't pitched in 10 days, so that has to be considered in addition to what else has been mentioned. I hope KW keeps working the phones, but you can't assume Cotts won't be able to do the job based on tonight's performance.
  5. We'd have to get more than Benson. Hell, he may break down tomorrow.
  6. It is much more important that Cotts comes out of tonight's game healthy than it is for him to pitch 5 or 6 innings. Cooper needs to keep a very close eye on Cotts and Ozzie needs to listen to Coop if he says it's time to pull him.
  7. HSC could always be quite vocal when she felt strongly about something. Especially when it concerned the Sox. But, God love her, she's a good lady.
  8. Granted that Everett in our line up would be a welcome addition. But, if he is playing CF for us, he'll give away defensively any advantage we gain offensively.
  9. Carl Everett is not even close to being a centerfielder!!!!!
  10. To expand on that thought, who acquired Schoeneweis last year with the idea of having him in the rotation this year? And that was before Ozzie was part of the equation.
  11. I agree, Nuke. They are their own worst enemy. Politically correct or not, that's my belief.
  12. The suspension has not been served because the Cubs tried to pull a fast one and have Wood's DL stint go back to his last appearance which was prior to the suspension. In other words, it has been reinstated and Wood still has the option to appeal.
  13. Last place must be Sully's comfort zone.
  14. Lucky for Pitino there's Tim Floyd for comparison sake.
  15. It won't suck for much longer. They have a beautiful ballpark and a good young up and coming team. If they falter this year, they'll be right in the thick of the AL West race year.
  16. I think this move will pay off for KC. I hope it makes them harder for the Twins to beat in their soon to be played games.
  17. You can't have an odd number of teams in each league. The schedule would be unworkable. EDIT: I should have read the entire thread.
  18. As cwsox said, Joe Crede will be fine. He's our 3b and I believe he will stay our 3b. As of right now, platooning ARow and Timo seems like the best solution in CF. I'd look to see Joe Borchard continue his recent upswing in AAA for awhile before we give him the job. I'd still leave Reed down there to get more seasoning. I agree that Harris should play 2B at least 80% of the time. An occasional foray into CF for the sake of a productive matchup wouldn't be out of the question. With Uribe's ability to play 2B, SS and 3B along with Harris playing 2B and CF, there is no reason why Uribe, Harris, Valentin and Crede could not each play in 75 to 80 percent of the games. And Uribe really is thriving in this utility role, so I wouldn't change a thing with they way they are using him.
  19. I'm not against this idea at all, as long as he's in LF, not CF.
  20. Let's just bury these guys as deep as we possibly can. They have shown a resiliency in the past.
  21. We agree on this one, Nuke. Not only has he done a decent job, but he's not shy about pulling the trigger on a deal.
  22. Considering Uribe is considered a utilityman, he is probably not even on the ballot. And if you were going to write him in, what position would you pick? If Uribe makes the team it will be as a resrve. He keeps this up and he'll be in Houston on a Tuesday night in July.
  23. Everett, Burnitz ... if he's going to trade for a centerfielder, I wish he'd trade for one that can actually play the position.
  24. This is good news indeed. Let's hope he can keep it going.
