  1. Make light of it if you want to, but Robin Ventura can help this team.

    First accidents

Several years ago, after working a midnight shift and then some OT, I was driving home ... Actually, I was within 1/8th of a mile of my driveway and fell asleep. I crossed over the other lane, went off the road and down into a ditch. As I was going into the ditch I woke up and saw the backside of a "Stop Ahead" sign that was mounted on a 4x4 post dead ahead. I hit the sign and clipped it off. The sign and post flipped up over my car and landed behind me. Meanwhile, I hit the gas, drove out of the ditch, on to the road and then just turned right into my driveway. No injuries or vehicle damage.
  3. Wasn't Prior's first missed ST start "precautionary"?
  4. The problem was that Ichiro left the box headed toward first. Caruso was usually headed back to the dugout.
  5. If any one incident can be used to justify our contention there is a double standard when it comes to media coverage of the Sox baseball experience and the Cub baseball experience, this is it.
  6. Thank you for making that point, sir.
  7. I think Seattle would take a Lee for Garcia deal. Carlos ain't chopped liver. He's a quality major league hitter that happens to be having a slow start. He'll hit.
  8. Nope. He's got to get them in there from time to time and try and get them going. Crede's been starting to hit the ball with some authority lately, so let's see if he's beginning a hot streak.
  9. It's all about bang for your buck. Besides, Everett cannot play CF. He's a major liability out there.
  10. I'd love to see a repeat performance out of him Sunday vs the Twins.
  11. Happy Birthday!!!! and for your boss: :fyou
  12. I'm sure it will be Burke that goes down. Everyone else on the team has contributed to some extent. Who's carrying Thursday's game on the tube?
  13. Robin may not be the player he once was, but he's a good solid veteran LH bat that can play effectively defensively at two positions. Ventura would be a part time player, fill in and pinch hitter and I think he could add something to this team in that capacity. I don't have any problem with Ross Gload, but I would rather have Ventura on my bench and be available to hit in a clutch situation than Gload.
  14. I have no problem with the way they are handling Cotts. He'll be all the better for having this major leagueexperience and knowing that he can be effective against major league hitters. As for Danny Wright, this guy is a mystery to me. He look sharp in ST from what I understand and since then has been terrible. Whatever the problem is, he needs to sort it out down in AAA and not in Chicago, that's for damn sure.
  15. For the record, the Sox are now 6-2 in games started by Mark Buehrle.
  16. I don't know what the off season plans of the Sox are going to be, but if they don't pick up a LH run producing hitter, they BETTER resign Jose. Uribe or no Uribe.
  17. And I, as well, would like to give public props and gracious thanks to "The Hammer". It was truly amazing listening to this music and thinking about the historical aspects of what I was listening to. I still have the 68 and 69 CD's to listen to and am looking forward to them very much. Once again, my most sincere thanks.
  18. The amount of time the murder at Wrigley stayed in the news vs. the amount of time the mugging of that radio personality at USCF stayed in the news. Discuss.
  19. It couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy. And team, for that matter. :fthecubs
  20. This is such a shocker! Bonds clearly stated that he wanted to top Ruth's home run totals because Ruth was lefthanded, not because he was white. To find out Bonds has some racially movitated thoughts is just so disheartnening. What a scumbag.
  21. Manuel never manufactured a run. Ozzie is overplaying the small ball aspects a bit. When the team is hitting he needs to back off and let them hit. When they are in corpseball mode, as they were this weekend, he then needs to shake things up a bit. Though, he did try this weekend and it just flat out didn't work.
  22. Thanks for getting my back on this one, Brando. I'm way too lazy to look all that stuff up and not inclined to argue with some of these guys. I know what I know and am not going to change their mind, nor will they change mine.
  23. I would say Koch qualifies as a failure. I'm very concerned about that nosedive as well. I can see it happening if they don't start using their brains when in the batter's box.
