  1. Question: What do you think of the White Sox' execution? Answer: I'm in favor of it.
  2. What is that, number 7 for Crede?
  3. And all this time, I thought you knew baseball.
  4. I think you will find that this was something that was known about all the way up the chain of command. If not, it's their fault anyway. With the prisoners at Gitmo, they blew off the Geneva convention with the foriegners and the Constitution rights of any US citzens. I can see them taking the same smug attitude with Iraqi prisoners as well. Of course, this also drew much more world critcism than the repeated rapes of Jessica Lynch.
  5. I've had Buffalo meat loaf, which was quite tasty. Also, when I was kid I had a roast from, iirc, a black bear. That was very good.
  6. I think last years numbers should have put that "situational lefty" tag to rest. He was very effective against RH hitters as well. Wunsch can come in and give you one good solid inning. Some teams would be able to use him in a setup role.
  7. I called Selig and told him this was totally unacceptable. End of story.
  8. I didn't think it had changed either.
  9. No problem. I didn't want you to think that I was making some vague comment about Puerto Rico. We good!
  10. Not at all. It was a legitimate question.
  11. 1. He is one of the best defensive shortstops in the game. 2. He is the ONLY lefthanded power hitter on the team. 3. He is one of the few players that actually know how to play every facet of the game. 4. Discredit his value in the clubhouse if you must, but that is part of the overall equation of a player's value to a team. (See Clayton and Jiminez as examples of the opposit). 5. He is the type of player the knows how to get under the skin of his opponents. 6. Pure and simple ... Jose Valentin is just a very damn good all around baseball player, without whom the Sox would be much worse off.
  12. A Flop Thrower? I've never heard that one before. Is that a common term in PR?
  13. FWIW? ... It's worth very little. It's a stat, but an arbitrary one at best. Pitching well enough to win .... Sucking it up and stepping up when the games is on the line ... Learning how to pitch effectively when you are tired or don't have your good stuff. Those are the things that make a quality pitcher. Not the number of "quality starts".
  14. It was during the 50's, when Bill Veeck owned the Browns. I don't know if they changed it to Busch later orr not.
  15. Garland needs to develop some mental toughness. He's got to stop being satisfied with 5 or 6 good innings.
  16. The only meaningless games are played in March.
  17. Damn right he's underrated defensively.
  18. For someone that's throws stats around to make your point as much as you do, I find it interesting that you chose to disregard them in this case.
  19. I personally think ARow will come around. But, he better do so quickly.
  20. My initial reaction to privacy vs safety in the schools is this: In 12 years you'd have the first generation of young adults that were systematically trained to accept the fact that "government" has the right to invade their privacy. Not a good thing, imho.
  21. Call me jaded or whatever, but after reading this article my gut reaction is that this is bull and the lady is trying to set up a lawsuit. I mean, how did the lady happen to swallow a 9mm bullet without realizing it was in her mouth?
  22. Interesting you picked Simon out of all the politicians that have been around lately. I agree with you. I didn't really care for Simon's politics but he was a straight shooter.
  23. I can't sit here and remember specific games. So I'll have to admit my opinion is based on a general impression I got while wathing Foulke pitch over the years. He did blow key games angainst the Twins. He blew a save in the 2000 playoffs and iirc, he blew one for the A's in last years playoffs. I also recall a time when we were having a horrendous west coast trip and we were badly in need of a win, when Seattle got to him and beat us. But, as I said, this is all distant memory and a general impression of things.
