  1. He went up into the ESPN booth during the game. He said that he wants to make it fun, freindly and affordable for the fans. If he keeps talking like that, they'll drum him out of the owners' corp. I really like the guy.
  2. Someone show me one word or statement in that column that, when taken in context, is untrue or incorrect. I think Rooney's time has passed and he should retire, but I don't have any problem with what he is saying above.
  3. As much as it hurts, you have to root for him against the Twins and Royals.
  4. Yes, I agree. However, that body armor he wears allows him to crowd the plate and turn on anything over the plate. That stuff should be as banned as steroids.
  5. If they do sign Maggs to a 6/68 contract, he'll never finish it with the Sox. The first time we come out of the gate like last year, he'll be traded.
  6. I'm not defending Colon. Wells was 39 with a bad back, but won 18 for the Yanks in 2003. Colon's excuse? Hmmmm ....
  7. When Bonds gets to 666, he'll proclaim himself the anti-Christ.
  8. I'd also like to purchase some tickets to this series. I can't gamble of gameday availability as I live 385 miles away. I would prefer Friday and/or Saturday tickets, but will settle for Sunday if I have to. I need a pair per game.
  9. I've never been "the sky is falling" type of guy. Ok, I'll settle for last years 51 home wins (iirc) and .500 on the road. That's 92.
  10. Both of you guys make good points. The thing is that you don't know what is going to happen until you put that talent/money on the field. I will say this much, though. The Sox lost the division in 2003 for the failure of upper management to turn loose of $1 million more than they had shown a willingness to spend.
  11. .500+ on the road .667+ at home. That's the formula for success. 41 road wins, 55 home wins. That should be more than enough.
  12. That's funny. I heard talk about us going 0-6 on the opening road trip. yet, we come back 3-3. I don't think any of them deserve to be booed.
  13. We gave them one last week they shouldn't have gotten. We need to start showing the rest of the division that we will dominate. And it needs to start right now.
  14. As much as I hate to say it, I can't argue with Brando on the Maggs issue. Since JR "throws around nickels like they're manhole covers" (I love that Ditka quote!) we cannot afford to have 25% of our payroll tied up in one man.
  15. Buehrle has already had one deserved win purged from his record this year. Hopefully that will be the exception, rather than the rule, this year.
  16. Sure its invasion of privacy. The same way they can get a search warrant and rummage through your underwear drawer. There is nothing new about this. As for the CBA, this may just force the MLBPA into agreeing to a more substantial testing and/or punishment policy.
  17. Hey! Who put the Detroit Tigers in Seattle Mariners uniforms, and vice versa?
  18. I'd like to see him win one. That has to get old, being the "best golfer never to win a major".
  19. You may be right. I don't know. I do know, however, how he handled himself on the baseball field. He was all business. He didn't take any s*** from anyone (ask Deion Sanders) and he did it all while performing at a HOF caliber.
  20. The Yankees ran into a good pitcher having a very good day. Like the Sox did against Vasquez.
  21. I think the guy who wrote this article is forgetting one thing. Cotts is in the bullpen because he's a good pitcher. It's not because he can't cut it as a starter.
  22. Sometimes I wonder if people have been watching the same shortstop as I have for the last few years. Jose Valentin is an above average shortstop. He's no Ozzie Smith or Luis Aparicio, but he is a good shortstop.
