  1. They couldn't even get a majority of the owners to go along with the worldwide draft. Forget the MLBPA.
  2. If you think this Tribune bias, you're crazy. Hell, the Cubs fans are thinking World Series this year.
  3. I say let them battle it out for both the 4 & 5 spots and see who comes out on top.
  4. This is a ridiculous statement. The guy has had 4 major league starts and you are already labeling him as a AAAA pitcher. Unreal.
  5. Damien Moss is just as much of a question mark, in my mind, as Danny Wright.
  6. So there's your answer. The Tiger's sign IRod for exactly what the Marlin's offered him, then they trade him to Florida on May 2nd. Watch and see. I think this will happen.
  7. It hurts to admit it, doesn't it?
  8. Steve Bartman is a classic example of an "educated Cub fan". They are so smart, they don't even know when to keep their hands out of the way of their own fielders.
  9. Let's see now: Frank needs to STFU Ozzie needs to STFU Yet, I didn't see a quote by either one of them in that article. Lighten up people!
  10. Who knows, Pastime? If we are in a division race, who will KW add to the mix? Will a couple of breaks go our way in the playoffs? Sure, we could pull it out like the Angels or Marlins did. I mean really, who would have thought the Bartman thing would happen for the Marlins?
  11. The way I see it is that we have 2 big question marks. That's #4 and #5 starters. I think our lineup will be fine and our bullpen will be decent. This tean can win the division.

    Kerry Wood

It may be a good thing Wood only agreed to one year.
  13. There ya go. It's not just KW that gets burned on some long term contracts. It happens all over baseball. Some work out, some don't. The big difference is that teams like the Yankees can afford 3 or 4 major mistakes while other teams can't afford to have even one blow up on them.
  14. To this club, Valentin is worth $5 million. He's the only LH power source we have.
  15. If I was a Brewers fan, I would consider this WONDERFUL news. They're locked in to a lease and can't move, and the Selig regime in Milwaukee has recently been worse than the Reinsdorf regime in Chicago.
  16. There is no way Reed makes the big club. Half a season at AA doesn't cut it. He's not ready. Joe Borchard can make it, and if he has closed that hole, he might even earn a starting spot. Picking up Bernard can't hurt, if this rumor is true.

    Made in the USA

I wouldn't say I make a conscious effort to find USA made products, but I will purchase them vs imported if I notice and have a reasonable choice.
  18. I was surprised to find Murray St., a school fairly close to me out of the Ohio Valley Conference at #40. They been playing good ball. Their 2 losses are to Pitt and Louisville on the road.
  19. For one game, right now, I'd have to go with Brady. The dude just does whatever it takes to win.
  20. That's true, but JA is going to give Smith every chance to succeed. I'm sure he'll hire co-ordinators that Smith feels comfortable working with. I hate it that we lost our special teams coach, though.
  21. Now what was wrong with my response to him. I thought it was very civil. Yes, I corrected him, but I did so nicely.
  22. This is exactly what the Yankees did with Jon Leiber. Yet, they signed him to a major league contract. Dempster is worth the gamble of a minor league deal. Maybe even a 2 year major league minimum salary deal.
  23. Here's wishing Josh Paul the best of luck against the Twins & Royals!
  24. I don't recall cwsox say "we" gave the nickname to Fisk. I believe he said that we are giving Fisk's nickname to IRod. I agree with him. There will be only one Pudge in my book and that is Carlton Fisk.
  25. I would think that anything baseball related is fair game here, with a White Sox point of view as the overall focus. I also believe that the Cubs are, in fact, our rivals. So we only play them 6 games per year, but those 6 games are usually the most important games of the year to the average Chicago baseball fan. Note that I said average, not knowledgeable. You can't deny that if the Cubs sign Madducks that it will have an impact on the Sox in some way.
