  1. If this guy struggles with Philly, getting him in a deal for Valentin may be a possibility. If he doesn't struggle this year, the Phils won't move him as they will be in the thick of the race.
  2. Ouch. Let's hope nothing quite so drastic happens. You'll be in my prayers.
  3. You mean the White Sox actually have a decent SS prospect? I'm flabbergasted.
  4. Sorry to hear you're having back problems. I hope those pain killers are helping. Good luck to you.
  5. I remember there was a poll on the Trib that a bunch of guys here kept voting and voting and voting to make it turn out to be pro-Sox. That one didn't matter either, though.
  6. Yet, in 2002, Koch was better than Foulke.
  7. I think there's just a hint of sarcasm in his closing remark.
  8. And ... we won't feel obligated to hold on to him for a full season if he sucks as bad as Ritchie.
  9. LMAO. Shades of Sammy Davis, Jr.
  10. Hence, the "ignorance" part. I'm not saying HisRoyalHighness is ignorant, in general, but it would be understandable that he was ignorant to this aspect of the Ozman's life.
  11. I happened across an interview with her on this subject. She's not too far of base. Basically, what she is talking about is purely a matter of respect. And, I'm a firm believer in the fact that the respect should go both ways.
  12. You're even more conservative tham I am. Wow.
  13. Thank you. I was wondering why so many people couldn't see that more solid families and less single mothers would not be advantageous to the nation as a whole and African Americans in particular. And before anyone accuses me of being racist. Think again. You can argue the fact that a larger percentage of Afr. Amer. kids are growing up without the benefit of having their father in the home.
  14. I finished with Bush and Cheney tied at the top of the list at 50%. Next closest was Lieberman at 30%. Which didn't surprise me at all. I always thought Lieberman was best of the Democratic candidates.
  15. Smith did turn around a lousy defense into one that was good enough to win a Super Bowl (though, just by the skin of their teeth). I don't know if this guy is the answer, but he absolutely has to tough. Can you imagine growing up with a name like Lovie? (I'm hearing Johnny Cash sing "A Boy Named Sue" as I type this.) My gut reaction would be to pick Smith over Grimm, also. Spurrier? No thanks. Now, Levy would have been a great choice. I don't care how old he is. And another name I would have liked to have seen the Bears consider is Art Shell.
  16. If Evans is concerned with a deal "making the Sox look good" then he needs to be in another line of work. He should only be concerned with how any deals affect the Dodgers.
  17. OK. Good answer. Though, I disagree with that thought process when deciding between two unproven players. Put them on the field and may the best man win. Getting Uribe as a utility guy and future starting SS also makes sense to me. However, and this is a big however, I suspect that with Harris being one of the guys that KW acquired in a trade, that he wants to give him every chance to succeed. Miles, if you recall, had made the big club last season as per JM. KW overruled him and Miles was sent down. At least, that was the scuttlebut last season. I think KW was not ever going to give Miles the chance to beat out Harris in a head to head competetion for the job. Just my opinion, but I think it has merit.
  18. MLB has no choice but to baby step this problem. I think they were lucky to get what they got from the MLBPA on this issue. In fact, if the fans hadn't have sent the message they did prior to the strike deadline, I doubt this issue would have even been addressed.
  19. LA wanting to move Green makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
  20. If we would have signed Norton, the first 10 posts would have been along these lines: "f*** KW!!! The Cubs are trying to get Maddux and we sign this guy." "Yep! .... A b****ass retread. Get off your ass KW" " :fyou KW!" " Start celebrating. The pennant is ours! "WTF ... Why didn't we sign Daubach instead of this guy?" "Daubach can't play 3rd" "I know, but he's a better hitter than Norton will ever be." " " and so and so forth. :fthecubs
  21. Rant on Parque all you want, but he was a gutsy little lefty that was dependable, if not great, until his arms problems came up. I always liked the guy. He reminded me of Greg Hibbard.
  22. If King George has a piece of the Bulls, there is no way the same group can own the Sox. MLB would not allow one man owning parts of 2 different teams. And at JR's age, I can see him selling the Sox.
  23. Roberto Alomar is a future HOF'er. No brainer. Unless, of course, he bet on baseball.
  24. I mean ... Who really gives a s*** about this?
