  1. My comment is about Rauch. I feel that you can throw out the fact that he has been in AAA for two year, and not called up last year, right out the window. First of all, he was recovering from an injury, which a pitcher has to pitch through, but limits his effectiveness. Yoiu don't want a guy in that situation on the big club. Second, a very good point was made earlier about the club maintaining the ability to option him back down if the need arises. In fact, I think a smart club would do more of this kind of thing. It also limits his service time, and therefore pushes back arbitration and free agency eligibility. Ring didn't make the Mets list. Hmmmm. That kinda gets the old wheels to grinding. Let's see, this guy was a first round draft choice. The Mets farm system is considered average or mediocre, at best, and Ring couldn't crack the top ten. What does that say about our scouting?
  2. I don't know, but that's one helluva idea!
  3. She's "affluent" now. But, I believe she may also be "fluent" in English.
  4. So we get, in a few posts, Ishii >> Konerko (which is garbage, imo) and Ishii is not worth having. Ya gotta love this board!
  5. McNown's problem was that he was such a world class jerk, that his teammates wouldn't give that extra effort to make Cade look good. He might have been better if he was on the same page as his teammates.
  6. Yeah, Rapaport has quite a column on Namath in the Sun Times this morning. A good read, but not a pretty picture of Broadway Joe.
  7. So what's new? ANother person leaves the Sox organization feeling that they were treated less than fairly and less than professionally. It seems I've heard this tune before.
  8. Get ready to be pissed, fellow Sox Fans. The moron at the Sun-Times strikes again. Jay MORONati's column
  9. I'd stack 'em up like this: CF Damon 2B Kennedy DH Thomas LF Lee 1B Erstad 3b Crede RF Borchard SS Valentin C Olivo Or: CF Damon RF Reed DH Thomas LF Lee 1B Erstad 3B Crede SS Valentin 2B Kennedy C Olivo Actually, I'd swap Lee and Thomas in both lineups, but I don't see that happening in a real time environment.
  10. Oh, I don't know. Watching a show with people talking baseball in the middle of January doesn't sound too bad to me.
  11. I would have been shocked if he wasn't a pitcher in HS.
  12. Does anyone know how this all turned out?
  13. Sounds very similar to the McGinnis fiasco before Jauron was hired.
  14. Wild horses couldn't drag this story away.
  15. Yes, I agree. I'll tell you though, I'd really have to hesistate and think long and hard about giving up Reed. As much as I like this trade, that would be very very difficult to do.
  16. OK. So Ozzie planted his foot firmly along side of his molars. However, he has made repeated attempts, apparently, to contact Frank and talk to him about this. Frank should be man enough to at least hear what Ozzie has to say instead of hiding in Vegas and pouting about it like a petulant child. What purpose is served by letting this fester over 3 months and then deal with in spring training. Talk it out, settle it and move on.
  17. I'm sure this isn't the first time Boras has been ripped in the press.
  18. And to think, you USED to be Heather's favorite minor league pitcher.
  19. The only way I can see Philly considering this trade is if they are thinking along these lines. They screwed up by signing Burrel to such a heavily backloaded contract and since they have Millwood this year, still, they have just to decided to take a "go-for-it-all" approach for this year, taking there chances on the possiblitiy of signing Magglio to a long term deal. But if you are the Sox, you take this deal even if the prospect is Cotts.
  20. Damn. KW and the Sox "thinking outside of the box". Amazing. Simply amazing.
