There is not one person on tghis site that has even the vaguest idea what Frank Thomas is thinking. This should be a non-issue, but the press loves to stir the s***, as we have seen with their reporting from the Q&A sessions and the way they either misqouted, misrepresented by selectively quoting and exaggerated what really happened there. Steph and others have been victims of this, and it's real easy to see how Ozzie, KW and anyone else that talks to the media can be misrepresented.

The Tigers are doing EXACTLY what they need to do. They are trying to upgrade their postion players to make the team more competitive, while they try and develop some young pitching to build a team around. They KNOW they aren't going to contend, so why pay for a top pitcher? Give them a chance to rebuild from a "shell of a franchise" the right way. There were no quick fix optios available and they were smart enough to know that.

And the two "starters" we lost, we only had for half the season.

Harris certainly deserves hit shot. But the again, so did Aaron Miles. He actually earned his in ST and never got it. But that is old news. I hope Willie learns to "slap and run" from the batters box. I don't care if he ever hits a home run, just put the ball in play and run like hell.

I seriously doubt he's been blackballed. When he found out a contact was not going to be offered by the Sox, all of the ML positions and most of the minor league positions had been filled. I expect to see Backman as a ML manager someday in the near future.
