Look at Maddux's stats from his 4th start of the year forward. They were very Maddux like. He had 3 HORRIBLE starts to begin the year, and those skewed his ERA stats all year long. Greg Maddux is still a damn good pitcher. I'd love to have him in that #3 slot.

There is no doubt that Maggs is not in Vlad territory. He's damn good, yes, but, first of all the Angels overpaid for Vlad. Second, Maggs ain't the overall player Vlad is. Signing Maggs would definitely send a signal to Sox fans, but that is only as good as what happens next. If they sign Maggs for 5 or 6 years at $12 to $13 million a year, is that gonna keep us from having the flexibility to add players in the future? With this ownership group, damn right it is. As for marketing and PR ... these guys don't have a clue. Elvis night is big deal? C'mon ... gimme a damn break. I wouldn't consider what KW said at SoxFest to be carved in stone. he may have no deals in the works or have no plans to trade Maggs or Lee, but he should always listen to any other teams offer. If he gets an offer that he feels will improve the team and can make it work financially, then I'm sure he;d pull the trigger, regardless of what was said at SoxFest.

The dude started last season in A ball. You see him pitch for 4 games and he's got no future.

Financially it made sense because we had Koch locked up for three years without having to negotiate with someone in their free agent year. Baseball wise, do you remember how Foulke always seemed to choke in the big games? You have to remember I'm looking at this from a perspective of last off season. Koch was more of a sure thing at that point in time than Keith was. And how can you discount minor leaguers. We have page after page of analysis of our prospects on this board. Cotts vs. Valentine ... I still like that part of the deal.

I don't get it. Rumor is not fact. It's not being reported as fact. When someone speculates (like I did regarding the possibility of Thomas to LA ... it was just looking at the possible matchups, the needs of the teams, the ownership/financial situations and determining that this was possible .... Did I have a source? No. It's was purely speculation on what COULD happen) .... it's just that, speculation. When someone reports a rumour, it's only a rumor. Not tomorrow's headlines.

I can't see KW trading both Maggs and Thomas. I'd rather see this deal go through, but I'd bet on the Thomas to LA deal happening instead.

First, I have to ask why is everyone so shocked? After KW said Maggs and Lee weren't going anywhere, I mentioned that Thomas and PK weren't named and with the LA ownership situation settled, if was very conceivable something could happen. McCourt said he was going to make splash. Wuould you consider acquiring Paul Konerko a splash? It's going to be Thomas, if anyone, imho. However, Thomas for Perez is nuts.

I like her. Not a big fan, but I do enjoy her music.

There is nothing useful in that article. Just unnamed sources say things like "we have very little concrete evidence" of this or of that. Sure. Fine. No problem. If I'm on an airplane that they get wind of the possibility that the plane might be used for a terrorist attack, I hope they don't ground the flight because there is "nothing concrete".

Believe me, I disagree with with about 99.99% of what Apu has to say in here. However, I do in my own way, respect what he has to say and how he goes about presenting his arguments. He also serves the purpose of a watchdog when it comes to the federal government and some the shenanigans they try to pull. That is the beauty of freedom of speech and I hope Apu never stops watching, digging, reporting, opinionating, etc. One more thing. I have never had the pleasure of meeting Apu, nor interacting with him in any way except on this board.

I've read two of Bugliosi's boos. "Helter Skelter", of course, and "The Sea Will Tell". It's been awhile though. I may have to take a look at what else is out by him.
