I vehemently disagree with that statement. You underrate Jose in all areas, defensively, offensively and his contributions to the team as a team. That is $5 million well spent. I know I'm gonna get hammered for this but I don't care. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Oh hell. Ron Schuler wouldn't pull the trigger on a mid-season deal to acquire veteran help for a pennant race if his life depended on it. Instead, he white-flag's the '97 season away. I always hated that about Schu and it's one thing I commend KW very highly for.

I believe Harris has to bunt occasionally to be successful. It keeps the defence off balance and, as Jason mentioned, it opens holes in the infield. The very real threat of a bunt attempt has to be there.

I know how I felt about the trade at the time it was made. Foulke was going to walk after the end of 2003 and Kock was tied up for 3 seasons. Financially and baseball wise it made sense. Valentine for Cotts is not a bad deal either, and if Mark Johnson was such a valueable backup where is he today? My reaction to losing MJ was as follows: "Yawn".

I always liked Chet Lemon because he was our only all-star for, well, years. But the dude knew how to run the bases about as well as Jiminez.

That was too many key parts of the team faltering at once. I don't think anyone could have managed that and made it work.

Every time someone comments about the importance of chemistry to a baseball team, I always think of the A's of the early 70's. No "chemistry" among that group whatsoever. Just 3 world championships.

I'm not all shot in the ass with JR. That having been said, he hasn't moved us and he has attempted to lock the team into a lease for 2+ decades. However, I would love to see an owner come in that believes the Sox could be a profitable franchise if and when there is a tradition of excellence, as opposed to "competitiveness". I firmly believe it and I believe in Sox fans. If we had that opportunity to get behind a winner, a real winner, a team that makes the playoffs and other teams are afraid to meet in a short series, I believe you'd see a completely different definition tacked on to the term "Sox fan".

I'll take a piece of that. I say St Louis finishes above the Cubs.

We are going to need 50 wins from our "big 3". Let's hope it works out that way.

If you had a gauranteed contract, you might let a chip sit on your shoulder for awhile. This will all be worked out in a few weeks. Or.... Frank will be traded to LA. KW said Maggs and Lee aren't going anywhere. Frank and PK were conspicuous by thier absence in that comment.
