  1. I agree with you guys. I think this is just the tip of the iceburg.
  2. I was and you did. As I said, can't have any fun. I just wanted to stir things up a little.
  3. I feel it is somewhat overrated, as far as head to head matchups go. However, if you take the Sox lineup, with all of their RBI type guys hitting from the right side, if a pitcher gets in a groove, hitting or just missing that outside corner at the bottom of the strike zone, he can sit there all night long. We need a good LH hitter to make the pitcher change his thinking, location, rythem and comfort level. A good right handed pitcher gives the Sox fits on most occasions, and mediocre ones do at times.
  4. I agree Brando. But, if was going to pay any 38 year old pitcher that, Maddux would be one I'd consider.
  5. Interesting chart. It does reinforce one thing, though. Maggs and PK hit into too damn many DP's.
  6. We've only needed a good LH bat for about 4 years now. Give KW time.
  7. A guy can't even have a little fun here!
  8. Vegas had the Sox and Twins as co-favorites to win the division with 8-5 odds.
  9. All this does is take away one possibility from the mix of goes who might step up and supply us with some quality starts. I hope this all turns out to be a false rumor though.
  10. Day old news. Numbers being tossed are $20M for 2 years.
  11. This is probably entirely unfair but, when I hear "Odalis Perez", I think "Jamie Navarro". Trading Frank Thomas straight up for this guy just doesn't make any sense. Trading Konerko straight up for him even causes hesitancy on my part.
  12. Let's see now ... Gammons makes a pretty penny to watch baseball all the time, including getting to go to all the "event" games, and then telling what he thinks about what's happening. Here we are doing it for free. Yep. That sounds like an idiot to me.
  13. There seems to be a lot of people on this board that think Maddux is washed up, but I just don't see it. He had a horrendous April 2003, but after that, he was still Greg Maddux.
  14. I've kind of drifted away from hockey since I moved to Kentucky, so maybe you guys can help me out with something. Please explain the offsides tag up rule they are talking about reimplementing. Thanks in advance.

    How in the hell?

I've heard of people that talk to themselves, but this carrying it a bit too far.
  16. Are you saying the injury he had did not contribute to this?
  17. Hypothetical situation here. Let's say ABC has the broadcast rights to this year's World Series. ESPN is owned by ABC. The powers that be at the network decide that having Maddux on the Cubs would increase ratings on regular season games involving the Cubs, which they coould turn into cash from selling commercial air time. Then, ABC also decides that having the Cubs in the Series would be a massive windfall of income due to astronomical ratings. Expecially if it's a Cub-RedSox Series. It would behoove them to possibly offer WGN, oh, say $5 million dollars for selected promo spots under the condition that they sign Maddux. There have been more bizarre things done in the race for the almighty dollar.
  18. The "organization" is the CAUSE of it. They've done too much already.
  19. Everyone is so worried about KC and I just don't see it. In fact, I think they'll finish in 4th place behind 3rd place Cleveland and under .500
  20. I can't wait to get your impression of Honel when he's pitching for the Barons this year. Be sure and keep us posted, as always.
  21. Hmmmmm Thought I'd something more to say.
  22. Yeah. That sucks that he expects hustle out of his players. The nerve of the guy.
  23. If he is asking for that, and the Sox have offered a 4/48 ... Seems like they should be able to come to an agreement somewhere in the middle.
  24. That's a very good point. The Giants were supposed to be payroll handicapped this year. WTF?
