  1. Old Indians don't die, they just become White Sox..... Alomar, Lofton, Colon, Alomar ... now Shuey?
  2. If fans thought there was a chance that any games were fixed, baseball, or the majors as we know it, would die. After 1919 and Judge Landis, this was basically carved in stone. Cheating has always been a part of baseball, but (and here's the big difference) cheating has always been done to try and WIN. Look at the guys like Gaylord Perry and others. Spitters, scuffed baseballs, nailfiles, etc. So, on the big picture, what Sammy did compared to what Rose did is small potatoes.
  3. Sure ... send Sammy to the ASG as a reward for cheating!!! The things that pass for intelligent journalism these days....

    Rios

Like with Jiminez, it would be nice to get something for him. But, if not.... c'est la vie
  5. ARod has begged out because of a sore neck. Bonds is not going to participate either.
  6. Definitely! We had to take that chance.
  7. Look at what we got for Lofton (Meaux and Diaz) Look at what we got for Sandy (Pacheco and Sandy back) Look at what we got for Guerrier (Yan and Marte) Look at what we got for Wells Fogg and Lowe (Ritchie???)lol p.s. Who were the other players in the Olivo and Chad Bradford deal? and who did we get for Howry? It was Olivo for Bradford straight up, I think. We got a minor league pitcher named Fransisco, I believe. He's one of the guys Texas is alooking at in the Everett deal, isn't he?
  8. This is a tough break for Patterson and the Cubs. The one thing the Cubs couldn't afford to lose was on of their better bats. I'm not going to examine and figure out what I'd do if in their shoes, because I really don't care. But I hate to see the serious injury to a fine young ballplayer.
  9. Williams is not that damn smart, guys. I'm sorry. Who would you rather have at second base today, Durham or Alomar. Personally, I'd rather have Ray. Now, look at what we got for Durham from Oakland, then look at what we had to give up to the Mets for Alomar. We got much less for a better player than we paid for the aging former star. If we don't make the playoffs, both JM and KW should be gone. Just MHO.
  10. Roman, get a clue as to what being a fan is all about. Guys, I agree, JM never seems to go with the "play the hot hand" theory. I never have figured that one out about him.
  11. I saw that. and you are right, it was very ugly. One was against KC, another Minnesota.... stupid Red Sox!
  12. I agree with Killa and Bmr on this. But, hey, you've got to take your shot when you have a chance. That's why the white flag trade is still panned. That and the fact that most of us don't remember seeing the White Sox in a World Series.
  13. That's gonna be ShamME next weekend since he won't be able to "entertain the fans" at the HR Derby or the All Star Game He can't "entertain the fans" anymore. He broke his one and only corked bat. LOL, excellent use of green Thank you. It seemed appropriate.
  14. The point was that we had designated Jiminez for assignment. He was going to walk as a free agent in a few days.
  15. Here's my two cents.... I don't consider Mark Buehrle "great" at this point in his career. I believe greatness has to be proven over the long hual. A pitcher can pitch a great game (Don Larson) and not ever be a great pitcher. However, I could not even begin to say Buehrle will not be considered a great just because he had that 2-10 start this year. If he resorts back to being the Mark Buehrle of old ... and does that for 12-15 years. Yes, I'll say he 's great.

    Sosa

If you remember, JM walked Patterson intentionally, to load the bases with one out, and get to Sosa. I worked too, Sosa K'd and we got out of the inning without any runs scoring.
  18. I'm just glad we were able to get anything of value for Jiminez.
  19. I think Varitek will be the biggest worry.
  20. I'm with witesoxfan on this one. 240 or 250 batting average this year and Olivo is an asset.
  21. I'm at about 30. I'll flood it tonight when I'm at work. I'd rather do this on company time!
  22. Dunn really has cut down on his BB per IP this year. Looks like a good move. I thought we'd just lose Jiminez and receive nothing.
  23. I just put in, I'd estimate, about 30 votes for Frank. There will be more coming from me as well.
  24. This poll is a no brainer... E-LO
  25. Question #1 .... Why would the Yankees want Koch? Question #2 .... How do we know Danny Wright can be a good closer? Everybody has seemed to jump on that bandwagon. We've never seen him in anything close to that role. He may not have the intestinal fortitude to handle that job.... We are talking about that same guy that always gives runs in the first inning? That's a helluva gamble to take in a pennent race.
