  1. regarding the blown save numbers of Koch, Marte and Gordon, Koch was usually brought into games at the beginning of the ninth inning with no one on base. Quite a few of Gordon and Marte's blown saves came in the 7th or 8th after the starter put a couple of runners on. Those count as blown saves as well.
  2. If we win and KC loses, we pick up a full game.
  3. Just want to point out that we have been beating Detroit and Cleveland (this week) while KC and Minn have been beating Oakland and Seattle.
  4. This board does have it's share of flakes.
  5. I think it all boils down to the fact that our offense sucked early. That made every blown save by Koch that much bigger. Buehrle struggled, but might not have struggled so much if he would have gotten a couple of well deserve wins early in the season.

    Koch

Not only has Koch historically pitched a lot of innings, but he has had high pitch counts during those innings. So, on the surface, we really took a bath on this trade. However, by this point next year things may look completely different. If we use Koch sparingly the rest of the year, his arm may bounce back. Who knows if Cotts will ever amount to anything, but that is always a possibility. Foulke probably end up walking away from the A's after this year.
  7. :dips*** Just look who it's pointing at.
  8. How can somebody not respect Karl Malone????
  9. Correct on the Geotown thing. And that team didn't make the Final Four.
  10. I never had the pleasure of knowing one of my grandfathers, as he died when my father was 13. My maternal grandfather was in poor health the last 8-10 years of his life, and I lived in Chicago while he lived here in KY. However, he was quite a renowned baseball coach in this area. He managed a team that would probably be consider American Legion ball today. He had a few players make the majors. The only one I can think of of the top of my head was Bob "Hawk" Taylor, a catcher, iirc, in the early 60's.
  11. Manager: Jerry Manuel.... need I elaborate?
  12. What I am doing, if you noticed, is blaming the whole bunch..... including KW.
  13. I didn't say that at all. I said Williams is as much to blame for this team as anyone. He assembled it. And all this "talent" has produced a .500 team for 3 years now.
  14. Prior got banged up pretty good in that collision. He said that after an inning or so, soreness started developing.
  15. Let it be written. Let it be done. ........... Ummmm, wait.
  16. I wish Mark would shut up about it so I can stop having to defend him on threads like this.
  17. Kenny Williams is as much to blame for this team as the players and JM. He's been the GM for the past 3 off seasons and basically, this is his team now. He's used Schuler's foundation, but he also decided who to keep and who to trade off, and for whom. He may not be pulling the strings on this malfunctioning puppet right now, but he certainly helped assemble the parts.
  18. They sent him down to Charlotte after the game and brought up Porzio to pitch Saturday. Probably temporary though.
  19. I hate to say it, because I like PK. But, he has played his way from an asset to a major liability.
  20. Hawk was already a terrible GM.... he did enough damage then. Let's just leave him in the booth.
  21. No you are not the only one that noticed that. I felt like Rowand was just getting on a streak, and JM sits his ass. His stroke looked good and he was hitting the ball squarely.
  22. Wally Backman is a respected major league veteran. If these guy6s can't respect him, they need to hang it up. And are you talking Hawk Harrelson???? No Way!
